Omg I stopped getting notifications and then today you popped back up! I missed you and I really enjoyed this so informative I shared it to help people. Also I've started posting videos on my channel about my chronic illnesses learning to edit is tricky! Please could you do some slow cooker recipes? My husband has a new job and is home later in the evening, by the time he's home I can't cook because of my fatigue and I'm struggling to find slow cooker recipes that are not curries xx

My peanut butter has flax seeds and molasses in it, and I'm good with that. :) I think your advice is good -- but it's not always cost effective. I live below the poverty line. Organic and simplified is expensive. :)

Leander T I feel you. Careful budgeting is a must, and not just with food. You can still eat well though, if you are willing for your life to be different from the ones that are popular in the media. That is what worked for me when I was completely broke.

I keep dry varity of lentils in my pantry too. However, I also keep Trader Joe's stemmed French lentils on hand for a quick go to. I'm addicted to those😊Thanks for all the effort you put into bringing healthy nutrition tips to the rest of us!

Great video... I also love quinoa!! Also, I eat its cousin - canahua!! Love that even more... dry toast and then add your liquid n herbs/spices and cook. SO SO DELISH!! Both of those are complete proteins!! The other pseudo-cereal (seed) that I eat is amaranth. It's also very good... and I buy the amaranth flour at Costco to add to my garbanzo flour to boost the protein and nutrients.

I see you have oats. Are those Bob's? Some of their products (like their gluten free oats) require refrigeration after opening. Also, the organic almond butter I use requires refrigeration too! Can you do a refrigerator tour next?

I heard that soaking your nuts boost their nutrition level and is easier on your digestive system! But not sure how soaked nuts work into becoming nut butters.

Lauren Nunley there are some videos about how to make sprouted almond butter. I guess that you need to let them dry hyper well or dehydrate them after turn them into butter.

Any advice for how to use Coconut manna/coconut butter? I have a jar in my cabinet but have no ideas for using it.
@BeverleyButterfly7 жыл бұрын
Dark Blue Nutrition use it instead of oil in pans for heating food, I use it in baking instead of butter to line my pan too, it can also be used on toast instead of butter. I'm sure our healthy eating guru will have a lot more uses too
@DarkBlueNutrition7 жыл бұрын
Thanks!! Appreciate the tips.
@dawnlouiseh7 жыл бұрын
Dark Blue Nutrition hi, the manna/ butter is great used very similarly to nut butters as it's literally just the whizzed up coconut meat so it has the flesh and the oil. where as the coconut oil can be used in many different ways, like an alternative to other oils, butter for spreading and baking, homemade chocolate to skin and hair care. x x and when finished that jar make your own from dried unsweetened dessicated coconut or coconut flakes by whizzing trying food processor or blender. have a look online. coconut mama Garway website dedicated to allusions coconut. x hope that helps

great info thank you. I got some quality brand organic quinoa and my first experience was terrible it tasted a bit bitter. I kept with it for a few days trying the batch I cooked that I put in the fridge, tried making milk from it. nope still couldn't palate it. I was so hyped about it after watching loads of your videos and reading your blog. any tips. I cooked it according to your started guide. second please I need ideas for alternatives to nutritional yeast as very allergic to it and also to oats. oats are used a lot and again allergic to it? third question, sorry, do the quinoa flakes and flour taste same as plain cooked quinoa? thank you for your time x
@debkatzz7 жыл бұрын
Dawn Heald hi, the quinoa I buy needs washing to remove a chemical the plant produces so the seeds don't germinate until the conditions are good for growing and it tastes bitter (some brands come prewashed). If that doesn't do the trick some recommend soaking for 8-12 hours before washing, and it cooks quicker. I use nuts blended with some salt till look like breadcrumbs on pasta, nor cheesy but texture and salt add a nice savouryness.

My organic nut butters have a build up of oil on top... is that normal? Should I be refrigerating them? It's SO difficult to mix lol
@Simplyquinoa7 жыл бұрын
It is normal, yes! You can try storing them upside down actually (just make sure the lids on tight so they don't leak), or you can try blending them in your blender once you open them for the first time and that should help!

@Simplyquinoa7 жыл бұрын
+Ada Zhu do you rinse it beforehand? Id definitely recommend doing that if you don't already! Some people have a more sensitive palate and Quinoa can be pretty bitter. So try rinsing or try another brand 😘

I've started buying non fortified nutritional yeast because I learned too much synthetic folic acid isn't good. But I guess it depends how much someone consumes and I use it a lot! (Google Dr. Joel Fuhrman and synthetic folic acid if interested).
@dawnlouiseh7 жыл бұрын
patty 8873 I can't have nutritional yeast and I was really unhappy about it as it does make a big difference to eating a plant based and gluten free diet, especially at the beginning. mind you I can't even tolerate gluten free oats. an alternative I've seen Anya Cass use is tahini and tamari sauce. I did this and I was impressed. x

Please take this as constructive criticism. I don't want to come across as mean, just a makeup tip. You may want to consider taking your eyeliner all the way into the inner corner of your lash-line. Again, sorry if this seems mean, I just think you need some color in that inner corner. It looks like you don't have any eyelashes there. You're SO beautiful and just wanted to give you a small tip. Hope that's OK. I adore your videos a lot! This one was great, but I have been wanting to be brave enough to give you that feedback because it's always distracting. Lots of love. :)
