Had the opportunity to spend some time up close and personal with our Cizeta V16. 1 of 9 Italian Supercars produced for the world in the 1990s, the Cizeta is a hand made work of art! We still need to change the plugs and complete a service before driving, but we are almost there! Enjoy!!

Never forget as a teenager reading the issue of CAR magazine in the UK with the Cizeta on the cover, as you say one day it will be the king of kings, stunning car and love you sharing your amazing access to great cars with us. Jaguar XJR 15 is another contender, the EB110 is already there.

I've always loved this car - especially as the Diablo owes so much to it.

If supercars are about extremes, this must be the ultimate, thanks to a crazy 5995cc 16-cylinder engine - transversely mounted! No wonder the Cizeta was so wide, it had eight cylinders across its girth! With 560bhp at a dizzying 8000rpm, the noise was supposedly awe-inspiring at full chat, thanks to 64 valves doing their stuff. It was claimed the V16T could top 204mph, but nobody ever officially tested the car, so who knows? Despite the prototype emerging in 1989, it was 1992 before the first cars were ready; the last was made in 2003. A great looking car, even by todays standards. If i was rich, cars like this would definitely be in my collection. IF i was rich! Thankfully we still have yt to see them.

Loving the content and the 4K quality John. A question if you have time: on a car like the Cizeta, very small production numbers with a unique bespoke engine etc is it something you would restore ? Or do you sell it as is ? Just wondering about your thought process here, if you leave it untouched or if you detail the whole car including engine bay/interior. What makes sense to do in terms of financial return when you sell it ?

Fun fact: Claudios test mule was a Ferrari 308. It had the V16 engine and driveline stuffed into it! And Claudio was so secretive about it that said it had a Miura engine in it or some sort of uninteresting boat engine. He even kept it a secret from his wife until the first running prototype was made!

Marcello Gandini was the designer and he didn't designed the 250 but the 308 GT and he also designed Miura, P140, Lancia stratos Zero, De Tomaso Pantera SI

It is so interesting that the Claudio at the time had a Miura and a 250 gto and he sold them in order to fund manufacturing cost of this car and they asked him why v16 and he said why not everyone is doing v12s I want to do it my own way so they developed 6.0 liter naturally aspirated v16 only for a low volume production car developing an engine that’s not feasible but they did it
