Unreal engine might be a resource eating monster but it looks bloody good. But there are engines that look better than unreal engine (like cry engine, Decima, the engines ubisoft uses and fox engine looks good too). So why unreal? Well, its free to download and use, and publishing games on it don't cost a penny compared to the heavy license fees one has to pay for other engines of the same caliber. And now epic dont ask a penny if the revenue on your game was less than 1M. So it's very appealing. Not to mention great community support, asset store and documentation.

I have a question - unrial engine is render engime or something else 🤔, please reply
@andrewherrera77353 жыл бұрын
It is a game engine. Obviously it has a lot of subtle optimizations to make it able to render complicated scenes at 60 fps, which is why it is good for any realtime simulations such as architecture visualizations.

Then why movie makers spend so much money on sets ? They can shoot every thing using this (shooting everything on green screen)
@JordanMeher Жыл бұрын
There's a negative side affect where actors get mentally tired from acting in a studio day after day. A real set brings energy to their psyche which positively affects their performance.

so basicly unreal engine is like a tool to create a game or something?? something like roblox studio?...sorry men i just got into epic game few days ago so i want to learn about this thing.....so my questing is ... 1) is unreal engine a tool to create game like roblox studio
@oxo80473 жыл бұрын
Unreal engine is a tool to create another tool or software like games. Yes you can make Roblox like platform using unreal engine. Big example is "core games", which is basically an Roblox like platform. Create platform like Roblox will can cost so much time for you because your basically writing a whole user friendly unreal engine. Roblox created from ground up, but you can create like this Roblox platform in unreal which everyone know this as mod support. Using unreal engine as a content creation platform and deploy the content to your game from official content source which is very similar to Roblox. Just make the game fully moldable and support user created mod for the game officially.

I have a question! Why aren't there engines that use pictures instead of geometry? Wouldn't 2d be A LOT faster to process than 3d? So, essentially I'm saying Google Earth on steroids. In all seriousness.. why isn't this used for certain types of game development? Pictures can be loaded however many times per second while the engine doesn't have to actually render the scene; improving energy efficiency and performance. It'd essentially be rendered by the developers one time to be used as actual image files that the engine compiles based on user input and interactions. Someone answer this.. IDC how stupid it may sound. I'm not a professional developer but It's wasteful to have to constantly reproduce the same effect by taking a large sum of energy to achieve it - over and over again. Why not just use less energy; being utilized all at ONE TIME to reduce the load needed to create an effect out of it on other systems.. constantly? Isn't this what an engine is supposed to do anyways..? To save us all some heartache and to grant more complicated ways of thinking the ability of manifesting in a video game world. Couldn't we save our computers and the grid some performance by doing the same for it?

2D images may be useful for background plates and sky's but if you have a character walking around and looking around the environment has to be 3D in order to look like you are in it.

@@ni-world642 Both. Use Blender to make your models and import them into Unreal. Use Unreal for your interactive experiences. Use Blender for highly-realistic photo and video renders offline, use Unreal for really high quality real-time renders.
