And they think they're better educated than generations before them. If they only knew... my god. Can't read the time if it's roman numerals, can't do cursive writing, and I'd love to watch the comedy of them fumbling around with a slide rule. It's a good thing I'm a little older, because i grew up in a world free of this crap, and hopefully i won't be around when this all fully catches up with them. Annoying enough hearing "bruh" at the end of every sentence, but the arrested development, entitled behavior, overload of false information and putting feelings before facts. Nope, I'm out.

She provided all the evidence FOR the points Charlie was making (e.g., BRUTAL, recent, and sustained history of systemic racism against Asian Americans, from various iterations of Chinese Exclusion Act in the 1800s, experience of segregation just like Black and brown people, to the Internment of Japanese Americans, which involved confiscation by the US government of private properties) that Black and brown struggles cannot be attributed to systemic racism. I was very lucky to have grown up in the SF Bay Area. When I went to high school, the demographics were 1/3 Asian, 1/3 Hispanic and 1/3 White for the most part. Only a couple percent were Black or in the "other races" category, though. As a child, I truly didn't know racism until I started learning about Abraham Lincoln in the 4th grade. I loved growing up in a melting pot. I wish all children could grow up with that same innocence and feel equal and loved by their peers for just being them, without consideration of race.

The thing about a lot of college kids, is that they are still teenagers who still think they know everything better than those with experience, even after graduating high school. What makes it worse for them, is that their main sources are on social media, which is stunting their growth on a more emotional level. The best method to realize the errors of their ways, is when they start to experience the real world, and how much it really cares about their personal vendettas.

As a brown person, I say this: Racism isn't based on the individual's skin tone. It's learned. Kids can reject racism if someone tries to teach them that. Sadly, we focus so much on the sins of the past, we end up bringing them back. Edit: And to add to that, I'm not saying it's wrong to talk about the flaws of America's past. Rather, I'm saying that we should discuss progress and celebrate it rather than attack a race for oppressing another. That'll only bring more resentment towards those ethnic minorities.
@caribbeanbound8357
@caribbeanbound8357 8 ай бұрын
Good point, but sometimes racism is learned not from the parents but from living among the race you grow to dislike as they consistently move in and ruin your previously nice neighborhood. I'm not saying this is a legit reason to be racist, but what i'm saying is it helps if people understand where all the different aspects of racism may come from. Then we can help to alleviate that in the future. Another aspect of where racism comes from would be the younger generation of white kids being told that white = bad and everyone else = better. This will drive some youth to bad conclusions about other races. It is essentially creating a problem that so-called virtuous people claim to be fighting against.

Im white and raised by a single mother. She did her best but when I became a teenager she couldn't tell me anything. I started skipping school and gang banging and selling drugs. I've been to prison twice and of the couple friends I have that aren't dead I'm the only one not doing life in prison. I know that if I had a dad and didn't listen to rap music I would have been a different person. I made straight A's and was very competitive about my grades until highschool when I first tried weed and got laid. After that all I wanted was drugs, money and pussy.

I might be looking back in retrospect (that's redundant, isn't it?) with rose-colored glasses. I graduated college in the early 1990s. We had a few kooks on campus, but I don't remember mobs of students who were this nutty. Maybe they were there, and I just happened to be hanging out & studying in other parts of campus. Maybe I didn't notice them 'cause I was them. I just remember saying around that time: "I might be a liberal, but I am NOT a politically correct one."

In the UK we constantly hear the words "White privilege" but what is it. We have black music events, black history month and even a theatre show where only blacks are allowed in because white people would intimidate them. So where is the white privilege? We would not be allowed to do any of those things.

I'm Asian and a high school drop-out, I would have been class of 86 if I had stay. And no, I don't think I'm smarter than the next person standing next to me. What I lack in a proper education, I make up for with working hard If I could turn back the clock, I would have stayed in school. But I'm doing alright for myself, making 6 figures as a stone fabricator. And listening to these kids, "college students" nonetheless makes me realized I didn't miss out much.
