Wonderful video once again, majestic mountains, great trip through the valley, except for the poor old pigeon who flew right under the train, but there you pigeons don't have a lot sense anyhow. But thanks again for another great cab ride, and keep them coming...please.

Beautiful scenic cab ride and well filmed. It would have been even better with the use of windscreen wipers. Apart from that, I enjoyed it. Mike

The wipers were on, but they sat just above the camera, these old locos have tiny little wipers. Plus I didn't think that I'd get into a short rainfall on the trip ;)

At this video you have passed in total 17 railroad level crossings and under 65 (bridges and tunnels).
@AndreiTupolev6 жыл бұрын
Is that the Rhätische Bahn depot over on the left at Landquart? So the RhB track crosses the standard gauge track on the level outside Chur? That is unusual.
@RailwayEmotions6 жыл бұрын
They cross above the normal gauge. You can see it at 1:04:00
@johnbeaulieu24046 жыл бұрын
The narrow gauge track that crosses the standard gauge tracks just before Chur Station are only used to exchange passenger equipment with the RhB line to Arosa which departs from the station forecourt to the left. All other RhB trains use platforms to the right of the platforms used by the SBB, this includes the Glacier Express and the other trains to St. Moritz and Disentis-Müster.

Pitch black tonnels. Very impressive!
@chrisbillington33416 жыл бұрын
The vehicle in this video sounds heavier than some of the others. Perhaps that's just my impression but there is a definite feeling for me of the weight and momentum being carried down the track.
@RailwayEmotions6 жыл бұрын
It is the oldest locomotive still in service. It weighs the exact same as its successor, but is simply louder, older, mechanics instead of electronics... it really feels heavier on the rails, but it isn't.

@RailwayEmotions6 жыл бұрын
Ab Re 450 und neuer gibts die Zuglängenmessung, davor gab es das nicht. Dort ist es Erfahrung und schlicht und einfach abschätzen der Länge.
@ishkabiddle89306 жыл бұрын
Not a tunnel expert, but the long tunnel early in the video seemed very poorly lit to me. Just wandering what your thoughts on the lighting adequacy in there are. Thanks.
@RailwayEmotions6 жыл бұрын
Unlike road tunnels, railway tunnels are usually unlit. So yes, it is quite dark, the only light source being the headlights, emergency exits and of course the signals. Since we drive by signals and not on sight, the absence of light does not affect the operation.
@samanli-tw3id6 жыл бұрын
Railway Emotions This is because car drivers have to steer their cars away from the tunnel walls, where as trains are steered by their tracks.

how long is this ride and does it go all day? im trying to figure out the best way to chur from interlaken to catch the bernina but ive heard you almost have to stay the night prior in chur to take the bernina. Ive also heard the bernina express track is used by other trains that just have smaller windows and those run more frequently through the day but along the same tracks, so the views are the same... any advice would be appreciated!
@RailwayEmotions5 жыл бұрын
I suggest you check the timetables on sbb.ch. From Interlaken you could go to Luzern via Brünig and then continue to Chur from there. I think it would be worth taking the whole day from Interlaken to Chur and explore whatever is in between (Bern, Luzern, Zurich, depending on the route you take), start in the Morning with the Bernina and eat your lunch in Tirano.

What does the 'H' in a white circle mean?

It shows that a small stop (in contrast to a proper train station with signals and switches) follows in stopping distance. The H stands for "Haltestelle" in German.

Finally, someone said it! I'll talk to the officials and make them stop saying Chur is a city in the alps. While we‘re at it, we could try to move the alps, so Chur won‘t be longer situated right in the middle of them.
