While Seagal had doing a lot of straight-to-video stuff by this point, I always thought this was a clear step down because even though this wasn't the worst filme he had done, this was the first film where the box art looked completely amatuer, something most mockbusters would be embarrassed to have on the shelf. But hey, the movie has William Atherton. It can't be all bad.

5:36 I completely share your ambivalence about the living crustacean vending machines... I remember when Gordon Ramsay brought in a living lobster vending machine in one episode of Kitchen Nightmares, and I simply didn't know how to feel about it. 7:21 That's not fake blood, that's an allergic reaction. Whether it's from an allergy to sushi or to Steven Seagal's toupet is debatable. 9:21 G.I. Doughboy 🤣🤣🤣 Nailed it! 9:23 That is some top tier creepy smile right there... GI DOUGH BOOOIII. That first scene of seagal in his doo rag and black outfit along with his AK with its odd ass flame effect on the front really just makes him look like some Viet Cong dude. Steven Seagal as an Operator type actor dude is just so odd with how his movie career evolved. I'm excited for the next installation in the series Submerged which I think I've managed to see on Amazon prime. World's best Mercenary though, there has to be a big roster list of B-movie mercenaries to compare Seagal to that would trump him given his well, shlocky operator action bits.

Lol I have to admit I made myself laugh when I wrote G.I. Dough Boy. For real though. His character just wears whatever he showed up to set in. And that doorag must be glued to his head at this point, because he rarely takes it off these days. I can't wait for Submerged. You make the 4th person to tell me about that movie being one they have actually seen. Thanks again for all your support friend :)

I consider myself a aging martial arts comedic review aficionado but after watching this movie just now I am really struggling. They had a few great moments like segal pretending to speak Japanese and dubbing it in and a sound track that sounded like a bootleg blade movie soundtrack but this was just bad. Usually it's so bad it's good. I have a minimum of 20 of his movies from after 92 when he stopped making decent movies under my belt and this might be the worst yet. He generally doesn't even bother acting in them and the stunt doubles half his weight tend to be a good laugh but he seemed to put some effort into this movie. This one has me struggling to find the comedic aspects of how bad it is. Edit: I forgot to mention the really bad cgi government technology scenes. Those made me laugh.

@@RedEyeReviews what I mean is compare this to sniper special ops. That movie is hilarious and steven sits in a chair for 90% of his screen time. He says all of nothing after someone else speaks to him in emotional manner. He limp wristedly holds the assault rifle and doesn't even bother aiming. That makes it hilarious because it is so bad. Compared to that movie his performance here is Academy award winning. He put more effort into this role then I ever expected. It took the comedic value out of the film for me and it just ended up being really bad.

You know, I will never get over Seagal's silly slap fighting. Whether or not you think traditional martial arts would be effective doesn't really matter. I've seen dedicated kung-fu practitioners fight dedicated karate practitioners in serious competition. It looks way better than whatever Seagal did to that miniboss. Seriously, it had the same energy as a kid in his first fight on the playground.
