I've been carrying and using, 24/7 - a flip phone and smartphone for the last 14 years. I have been a caretaker for about 22 years, and a phone operator for 11 years. The flip phones are more efficient call devices when I'm running to the car. And when I'm carrying a bunch of stuff. and when I drop the flip phones I can easily buy another one if it breaks. As an operator, I always preferred people to use flip phones because they sound better at my end at a big call center here in California, than smartphones do. (believe it or not).

Reason is, they run on Android, sure if you are in North/South America, sure it will runs just fine but KaiOS is, sadly, abandoned by the creator + Google pulled out from the project. Not to mention, to put apps on KaiOS requires the entire software to be done from scratches. Most of the phone you named are either Android or AOSP, so there is that

Some people need WhatsApp to communicate with their family. Many flip phones have a basic Android that supports a proper version of WhatsApp.

Re:my previous comment's questions...Talked to another CC rep tonight who sd 'Iris Flip' is not out of stock➡it is being REPLACED by the 'Iris Easy Flip'➡the difference being it has less functions, such as voice assistant to speak texts vs typing them out, & GPS. It seems the Easy flip runs on Android, not the system you were so excited abt & hoping might be further expanded. But, having been misinformed by cc support yesterday, I'm not sure if I should trust the person I spoke to today🤪. I have 2 main concerns about the Iris Flip Phone. #1, it does not show caller ID on the lid when the lid is closed, it only shows callers phone number. You must open the lid to see who is calling. #2 The Iris Flip Phone does not acknowledge specific ringtones when you assign ringtones to individual callers. Please advise if you have noticed these major problems. Thank You!

One thing I had to work hard to find out-is how to download photos from this thing to my computer-for anyone else who might be struggling with this-go to settings-scroll right to storage-then set USB storage to enabled-then your computer will recognize your phone when you plug it in to download photos-(Consumer Cellular put this in their manual on pg 23 , -(Copy content between your phone & computer)-I think, but didn't put it under camera issues-so I hope this helps someone else.)

Consumer Cellular is good if you have strong AT&T coverage. As far as being better than the 2720v, it is a bit better for sure. However, if you need Whatsapp or any apps that only work with KaiOS 2.5, you won't have them available in this phone.

I have owned mine for about three months and have had a few glitches that CC has not been able to resolve. I was told to wait until they work out the software bugs to get my voice to text operational again. Was not satisfied with customer service.

Are you sure about the 60-day carrier unlock you mention at 4:34? The terms-and-conditions on the Consumer Cellular website says it's six months, which is the same as their network operator AT&T. I think 60-day is just Verizon.

Incoming calls seem to go to voicemail too quickly. Is there a way to change the number of rings so you have more time to answer the phone? Also, someone mentioned there was a way to make an emergency phone call to a contact on this phone, but I can't find any directions for that. If this is true, how do you do that? (Sure wish there was a complete instruction booklet for the phone - the couple of guides that you can download don't have very much information in them at all!). Thanks!

You have to unlock this phone for it to work on Mint, but it is possible. It takes about 60 days of use on Consumer cellular and then you can unlock it and use in other carriers.

@@diane5174 Hi, I have a temp method. Go to Settings-Personalization-Lid-Open to answer call, and select Off. When you receive a new call, flip the cover and you can get the caller information on the home screen and decide whether to answer it with the Answer button or not. Hope this helps!

I hope you can help me. Whenever I try to put in a contact name such as Target the T goes in ok but the next letter which is A, it shows up as O. And so on. Can't get any other letters in correctly. You should try changing from T9 to ABC. I believe you can press the * key or the # key to change those

You were right. When I press the * key it shows ABC on top of screen. Then the contact letters go in as wanted but * has to be repeated for the first name too. Plus has to done entering any future contacts. Not impressed with the hassle. I am impressed with your prompt reply and good help. Excellent service. Would you know if weather radar with moving radar image can be downloaded on this phone? I see local temperatures can be seen on Kai.... weather. THANKS!!!!

Correction to getting ABC on Iris flip phone. Press the # key. Not the * key. I had data shut off. Internet on the Iris flip phone is so bad that sitting by the ocean waiting for a floating bottle with a message in it was more productive.

So not impressed with the IRIS flip, my first one froze up could not do anything with it even getting with Consumer Cell. It was sent back an replaced, now the current one is doing the same thing, so frustrating to say the least, this has all been since the end of Oct 2023. The instructions on line or in the book provided, not to much help. Names do not come up when you get a call, you have to open the phone to see who's calling, but when you get a tex the name will come up. Had to major reboot it tonight, lost all contacts, pic's an messages, an now my camera won't save pic's to the gallery. This phone will be replaced asap ...

I had mine freeze up after the tech at Target had it up & running-he had transferred all my contacts, I had picked out a ring tone-thought it was good-got home & read an email asking me to turn the phone off & back on-at that point-it froze to that orange consumer cellular screen-I spent hours on the phone with CC -told me to pry the back cover off & remove & re-insert the battery-didn't help-they actually told me it was a dud to return it & get another one-I headed to Target, but there was no tech at that time-came home & started googling & found tons of people with the same issues on Reddit-followed their steps to take it back to factory settings-lost all my contact-but the phone # stayed-so I re-entered contacts & it has been working now-but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone with these issues-it's enough to make you flush it down the toilet.-very aggravating.

This is a dumb phone. So many problems and had to replace it 3 times due to screen freezing, charging problems, and just stops working. Plus, it's slippery. When trying to answer a call if it slips it hangs up on caller. Done with this phone.
