Imagine getting him as a trainer, someone who knows his trait and has wisdom too. I would be in the gym everyday

You should be in the gym everyday anyway.

It’s a shame lifting heavy doesn’t work well for boxing . I love both

100%. I did some heavy lifting and then boxing a few days later. I was stiff and it slowed me down some.

i noticed lifting heavy w pulling movements hasnt impacted my boxing negatively. But tbf i only lift twice a week max and box everyday

Actually this is wrong info. You should lift heavy. Keep the volume down, thats all. 7-8 is hypertrophy training, not strength training.
@daniellago600811 ай бұрын
@@Bom-pff Yes... science advocates strenght/Power training for boxing that is essencialy low volume high intensity

What if you lift heavy but stretch out your muscles for the same amount of time? Say 30 minutes heavy lifting then 20/30 min stretching to keep flexible ?

I hope you live a long life with us, I'm turning 22 this year, your teaching is always amazing, it really helps me, i used to practice alone at the local boxing gym by myself near to the place where i lived, at closed hour but i was lucky that the head coach trust me and allows me to practice at closed hour. So, your vedios is so helpful for a boxer like us

No problem with lifting heavy and increasing general strength. Just like any other sport, strength training is done in phases. The earliest part should be dedicated to building maximal strength (for one’s respective weight class) and tapers to speed, conditioning and more sport specific work in time for fight camp…Just like actually boxing training itself, the hardest sparring is done furthest out from the actual fight. Even certain body building isn’t all bad for boxing, and certain movements are actually a necessity for injury prevention. Getting ur elbows and knees strong through bicep and hamstring exercises, for example can only help a fighter in the long run. There is of course a point of diminishing returns in terms of burnout, or when time in the weight room becomes more prevalent than time in the boxing gym, but that’s a different conversation.

I would agree with all this and I also find it strengthens the joints to absorb impact better

But look at Beterbiev - top3 p4p boxer in the world rn at 39 years of age... p4p unmatched when it comes to KO power. He's lhw (81kg) and lifting some crazy weights even for bodybuilders of that weight - there are multiple videos of him bench pressing 130-140kg's.

I am not an established boxer nor am I a well researched exercise science professional but the science says for building not just slow twitch muscle fibers for fast twitch muscle fibers too (for explosive power) you need to do an endurance reprange of 12+ near or to failure. Pullups chinups dips pushups and incline situps are a great base for boxing, but for lifts I highly suggest olympic lifts, squats, strength bench (1-3 reps), and smoking your shoulders.

I use calisthenics for boxing and try to control my diet to avoid gaining excesive weight, i'm on 70kg and i can only do 20 push ups per set, i can do arround 10 sets of push ups ging all the way down to 5 push ups. How can i increment the ammount of push ups to 30 at least? Wich is a decent level of strenght. I workout 3 times a week and consume 3000 calories (i am an ectomorph) on each day that i workout, on rest day i consume half of the calories due to a low level of actvity on my body due to spending most of the day inactive, my point is i don't do hard intense calorie requiring exercises.
@amenn566111 ай бұрын
As long as u reach failure 3x a week your push ups should increase
@kd245311 ай бұрын
You need to eat just as much on rest days. Thats when your body repairs itself. Youre not going to gain excess weight. It takes a long time to build muscle.
@kaisalis78955 ай бұрын
There's your mistake, consuming only half of your required calories on rest days is nuking your metabolism and stunting your progress. You need to find your maintenance calories and eat slightly above that for gaining weight. As far as increasing push-ups, do multiple sets through out the day below your max. If you can only do 20 max, do sets of 10

Push ups , sit-ups , medicine ball , skipping , road work , all essential to the boxers training , weights not essential for boxers ! Weights only essential for grappler's

Archaic thinking. All combat sports athletes would benefit from deadlifts. Literally all of them

Boxers who have pumped up on weights (naturally) are no longer operating at their optimum fighting weight. In the days before roids there were very few boxers who were successful moving up in weight.

8 reps is like the perfect amount for bodybuilding? So now I'm confused

same, I would be ok if he says max 5 or min 15

He didn't said the weights
@reseed49507 ай бұрын
yes take this with a grain of salt because that's the best reprange for mass and deadlifts aren't very helpful for explosive power nor are normal bench press

The only time you will use weight when you practice boxing for competition, it's for cervical. For the rest, you will loose velocity. I did boxing in my children and teenager years, hit harder then at 63kg than now at 83 kg.
