I am professional author who has used KDP before I obtained a publisher. As Amazon "progresses" with POD, they take more and more out of your sales. Many of us authors and artists are so discouraged with Amazon. One of the issues with POD is now everyone can publish (but should they?). Quality is starting to go dooooowwwn. SO, one of the most important things to remember: quality over quantity. Plan. Have a test group who would use this type of book tell you if they WOULD use it. This is a nice, straightforward video. Creative and intelligent.

Basically. I’ve seen all these low content videos, and I’ve always thought that sure I’ll follow a lot of those steps, but I want to do my own spin on things. I don’t want just some carbon copy sheets and some randomly thrown together covers. If I make and sell a product, even if I get the template from elsewhere, I’m making it into something of my own and I’m making something ID actually want to buy. Something of quality. Not the same old things people pump out over and over again.
@NateChillinShow3 жыл бұрын
@@ohmyprettygirl yes and that same old thing copied and sold over and over again is what is not selling. I thought about thise same thing 2 days ago while watching this vids and I thought to myself when I shop at Walmart for a daily planner, I bought something that allowed me to schedule my time based on every day and hour printed so I can just hand write next to each hour of each day what I want to do for that time period. Sounds obvious. Of course I had many choices for such an option among other daily planners in that section in the offline store correct? No, actually is was just the one that offered that option so I bought it because it met my need and ignored the rest because they offered little writing space and some have no dates and expect me to write in the dates because doing so is easier for the owner of the product but to sell something is to make my life easier as a customer not your life easier, that is why I pay you as a business owner. Fast food is easier not better for you, but if I can cook my own food, eat healthy and it's easier long term in multiple ways and that idea is sold to me as such, I will buy because it solves a problem. When you solve the problems people have, you get their business. I know I'm preaching to the choir with you but you're not alone. You're on the right track. best of luck to you and everyone in low content publishing. I have not started doing this yet but I'm very interested. Have a great day.

@@ohmyprettygirl You should aim to make quality stuff, but you shouldn't aim to only make things that you'd want to buy. That's just limiting your product and thus sales because there's millions of people aren't there who'd wanna buy something that you never would. My 2 cents.

Like you say, it's totally free to start which is a big incentive for me to try. I've tried business promises in the past that have so many upsells once you start them so then if you can't make it work you've lost money maybe not everyone has. I don't mind putting money in once I know the process works and I learn it, after all you have to spend some money to make money. We need more honest people like you in the home business world :)

Thankyou for being so honest you've won me over all the others. The problem with all the others is they describe something that might work in "theory" but not none of them actually do it, let alone "prove" their theory for making money online works and makes the thousands of dollars they claim it does, in fact they haven't even made a single dollar with their theory. They all give misleading information and leave out hidden costs and frustrating obstacles that can be impossible to conquer. I have found most of them are making false misleading videos based on theory, telling you it works but dont prove it works, and are simply wolves preying on us genuine hurting people in need of more income to live and all our views make them rich. Again thankyou for being the honest one, I have been convinced youtube is ruined with scammers and their rubbish.

I never thought this video of mine would get so many views, because I went against all the advice and I just told it as it is. People who genuinely want to learn will appreciate it.

I made some money the first two months, but now it has come to a halt . However, I am not discouraged at all. Why? Because I am having so much fun learning new things, designing, creating, and managing my time better. I will say this you can't give up hope. You've got to have confidence in yourself, and that comes with time. Baby steps is truly the key. Like you said slow down and take time to #1 enjoy the process, and #2 concentrate on making a good quality product that doesn't looked rushed. Finally do listen to others on how to accomplish your goals. I think this is why so many people trust you because you are honest, and so humble that you inspire us to be better creators on our journey. Thank your for this video. i'm new to this but needed your honest opinion on making sales on KDP nowadays. Also to realise that we have to wait a while to get those initial sales.You have a natural friendly approach which i feel so comfortable with and I said ahh! out loud when i saw your cat as i also have a black and white cat which i have even put on the front of one of my books :)

just learning the process and you can do anything! To many people focus on one thing and don't look at their options. thank you that is great.

Yea true, when i don't have sales i give up for a while, then when i have sales i start produce again, the hardest part in KDP i would say is motivation to work.

So true. But don't give up.

I keep seeing the message that Prime Day is coming. What exactly is Prime Day, and what does this mean for authors?
@TheHomeBoss3 жыл бұрын
Prime Day is a little bit like Black Friday. I doubt that it will have any effect on our books, people are usually looking for bargains in electronics, not books so much.
