Great video🫶🏾 I came across a video from AfricanHairGod on here explaining the effects of hard ater on hair and how to manage the effects. That video and others explaining the same (or mentioning it in videos like you have been) are the only reason I didn't shave my hair this year. So, thank you for sharing. Also, visually seeing you overcome natural hair setbacks has given me hope that I, too, can do it.

Praise the Lord you just help me a lot we have hard water and that just might be the key to my hair coming out so much in the shower thank you so much there’s alway that film around our shower nozzle l just clean it with vinegar not thinking it can be causing problems for my hair God bless you and your family be safe🙏🏾

Your videos are the reason why I have filters coming for the shower and kitchen sink and why I use distilled water as my final rinse until the filters get here. I need to invest in that shampoo though or do an ACV rinse for all the build up before I started using distilled water

Great tips! I rented a house that was on well water in the desert a few years ago and wow did it have a terrible impact on my hair! It made my hair so hard. I used shower filters, but it wasn't enough. Thankfully I now live in a place with fairly standard 'hardness' to the water, but still use the shower filters. I also will use 'Redken Detox Hair Cleansing Cream Clarifying Shampoo' every time I do a deep treatment like a henna treatment on my entire head (not just root touchup), which works out to about 3 times a year. I don't find it stripping at all. Plus again, using the shower filter. I can definitely tell the difference the filter makes even here, because when I occasionally wash my hair in the kitchen sink it always comes out rough feeling and harder to style. Hard water is what I think makes people rave so much about apple cider vinegar rinses. Sure, they flatten the hair cuticle, but they also remove mineral deposits to some extent!

Well said sis! Honestly if not managed it could cause so much damage! ACV is grey! We want a closed cuticle after all the hydration of wash day anyway 🤗

This is the video that I desperately needed Now I know I have some level of hard water because my shower curtins get buildup on them, not sure how "hard"the water is but I'll look into the test strips If I confirm I need to change my water to wash my hair I will go with the camping shower bag because the filters can get expensive as well as the soft water system Thank you for such a through video❤❤❤😊

I experienced hard water damage in 2022. I noticed my hair thinning and products not working how the used to in my hair. Unfortunately i didnt find a hard water shampoo until may of that year. I use Ion hard water shampoo and that was a life saver. I also have a water filter and a water softner installed. I usually straighten my hair twice a year to make sure its healthy all the way around(Sept and Dec). Welp my September straightening told me i caught the damage too late because my hair was thin thin. It looked nothing like it did the previous year(Dec 2021). So in Dec 2022, I blew out my hair because the blowout was less depressing and big chopped. 2023 ive been keeping up with strengthening my hair and keeping it moisturized. I didnt straighten my hair this September because I want to compare this December with last years blow out. (For context my area experienced a fire that damaged our water souce in Oct 2021. I moved back to the area after they cleaned it up on new years 2022 and it was downhill for my hair from there. My pfp was taken November 2021.)

as a rinse or final step in moisturising yes but it would be to close the cuticle not for hard water because product would be a barrier for it to get to the hair. for hard water I’d do a rinse after my wash🌺

Have you ever tried a protein treatment? I’ve been trying to figure out if my hair needs one. I’ve watched countless videos I’m still confused as to whether or not I should try a protein treatment. If you have tried it before how was the result?

I use strength and restore from Shea moisture but it’s not a true proteins really just maintain.
