Security is important, but does every single platform need to know this phone and that laptop are the same person and those two people use the same computer? Isn't it better to pick and choose what you use 2FA with? What do you think?

@@NorthernChimp TOTP apps aren't connected through the internet (unless you use things like Authy). they rely on the date and time of your device to sync the codes from a local seed stored in the app

I really wonder how much safer brave is.. If I look at all the traffic that is communicated back to brave while surfing... If you look at proxyman there is too much there.

gonna watch this later; I may be willing to jump ship on a lot of things.... but getting friends and family to just with yah is a problem. Also you may just want to use some things for business or reaching other people like facebook for instance so it's good to know all the ways to improve the privacy on those apps.

@@MarioShotgun it was 18 bans over 6 years. Some were for thought crimes, some for posting "gore", some I don't even know the reason. A few of them were also false reports by a guy who liked getting my accounts and servers banned for no reason. It seems they don't even investigate reports, just ban whoever was reported.

Signal requires a Android/iOS primary device. Add the SMS requirement and you're really encouraging a lack of freedom. No Linux phones, no feature phones, no future alternatives.

@@Carahato A general compute device should have the necessary IO for tasks. A dongle could be a vector for exploits (as rare as that would be)-and adds extra bulk, prevents simultaneous charging while playing audio (unless you get an even bulkier dongle), and doesn't lead to better weather-proofing or is so massive it can't work (like a USB type-A or Ethernet port). The Bluetooth route now forces another identifying radio signal to be on as well as purchasing new headphones that require firmware updates and often only have upgrades via proprietary apps only compatible with Android/iOS. We shouldn't have to compromise on features in the name of security. This is less a knock against GrapheneOS (though I wish they were able to support more devices) but a knock against Google removing features from the a-series that a lot of folks relied on. I swear it was done in the effort to force more folks to buy Google's matching earbuds for greater profit. No, I won't buy a device without a 3.5mm headphone jack as a basic need-even almost every feature phone has them. As a result, GrapheneOS is off the table.
