We all know KC flips the switch in the playoffs after the last two years. It's obvious and we all know it. You can bash KC for not giving full effort in the regular season. That's fair. You can argue good or bad or smart or dumb. But it is clearly what they do. This years team has much more talent than the squeaker games they won last year but this year's team is worse? C'mon now, we all know better than that. KC had 49er level injuries this year that devastated the team but a HOF HC, DC, and QB managed to prevent and avoid losing streaks.

The difference between the success of Allen and Mahomes has been the supporting cast. KC this season is 12-1 despite Mahomes play. What did we see in the 13 seconds game? We saw McDermott crumble in big moments and the defense following suit. That has been the case every time with the Bills. The best player on the planet was Josh Allen in that game. It's not debatable, but you can't win without a team. Allen didn't drop the Diggs pass. He didn't miss the field goal. If you look at the KC/Buf games in the regular season vs. playoffs. The Bills are winning the regular season games and putting up 3 more points per game in the playoffs. But what has the defense done? They allow 15 more points per game against KC in the playoffs. That is defense. That is coaching. It's not Allen. I'm perfectly comfortable saying that Mahomes is the most successful QB in the league right now, but to think that Allen hasn't been the most talented player since 2020 is just wrong. If Pat Mahomes played for the Bills, he would have zero championships and would have less success than Allen because of the way Allen extends plays, runs through, over and around everyone. He is a 1/1 unmatched player. We are too far into the careers of Allen and Mahomes to be lying about who the more talented player is and why Mahomes has had more success. And Mahomes is great, he's a HOF QB, but he's not a better talent.

The Chiefs have played AN ENTIRE SEASON more of footballl than the whole NFL over the last 6 years! The floor for this team is OT of the AFCCG. Nobody has done more with less than Patrick Mahomes! This season they’ve been down: WR1, WR2, RB1(just came back off a broken leg), TE3, TE4, TE5, K, K2, ED1(just came back off a torn ACL), CB2. People want to talk about the Chiefs like they’ve been a normal level of NFL healthy and are just not playing well. They’ve had to re-make this offense 3 times ON THE FLY! Kareem Hunt came in OFF THE STREET. DHop was a mid season add who’s well past his prime. The LT spot has been a nightmare; Kingsley isn’t ready to play and Wanya has been trying to play through a knee injury for a MONTH. No other team could take on the level of injury they’ve sustained and be where they are. Detroit is an offensive led team with a bad defense who’s banged up on defense so safe that one.. they’re also about to play a 3 game in 10 day stretch with a WEEK 6 BYE!! That’s damn near criminal. What this team has done to this point is damn impressive and they’re nowhere near their best football yet.

Agreed, Diggs had a good season or two left in him but ultimately it was time to move on and the current squad is simply better overall. Diggs is a very good WR but he isn't Jerry Rice 2.0 either, and it shows even though he was important in Allen's development that Allen has grown and the coaching has advanced and diversified. The Bills look about as good as they have ever looked in the Allen era and you can see a maturity in their play, it's not perfect but they have a healthy rhythm which is a good sign.

If anything, they need to improve their red zone conversion rate. Mahomes is still the best QB in the league in 4th quarter. Just take a few looks at some offensive stats for KC: -2nd in success rate -10th offensive epa/play -5th epa/pass -11th epa/rush

The only reason those games are competitive is because of Allen. It’s honestly hard to try and find one other player or coach on the Bills that is better than the Chiefs’. Allen has outplayed Mahomes, but the rest of the Chiefs make up the difference. You put any other qb on Buffalo in those games and the Bills lose by 30-40 points. You swap teams and Mahomes would get blown out by Allen every time.

No debate that many QBs have better stats this season. Even last season. But all you have to do is consider what Mahomes is playing through. Sure, all teams have injuries. But they practically lost every significant weapon on offense. On their 3rd kicker, without RB1 most of the year, top 3 WRs all were out, and horrendous tackles. Lost CB2 which hurt a LOT. They SHOULD look like SF. They're 13-1. Allen is a BEAST...he's undoubtedly the next best. Pat just has that intangible to go with allllllll the other tangibles. This team is battle tested...OG...of course they could get knocked off in postseason...anyone can....but to expect it is wild at this point.

Let Allen win a few MVP awards and make a Super Bowl or two and we can start to have the conversation if he's passed Mahomes. But until then, when Mahomes is the two time defending champ going after number 3 (and his team is ahead of the Bills) let's not be dumb dumbs. This discussion is insane and many of the comments are even worse. Who knows where we will be in 4 or 5 years, we should all reserve the right to be proven wrong over time. But as it stands? Josh Allen is a better QB than Patrick, and it is not very close. Patrick is on a better TEAM and has a better coach than Josh, and that is also not particularly close. This is kinda like an amped up version of comparing Philip Rivers, who was excellent but on a mediocre team with a "meh" coach to someone like Nick Foles, who was only ever decent but won a Super Bowl with an excellent team and more accomplished coach. If you want to argue that Patrick is somehow a better QB over their respective careers, you are wrong but we can discuss that. But the sanity check at the entry to this conversation has to be, "We all agree that Josh is much better this season and it is not at all close - correct?" because if you can't recognize that, then you're either just a die hard Chiefs fan or you don't know football or both. Patrick has played with more All Pros, Pro Bowlers, accomplished coaches, a more stable environment... and Josh still regularly beats/competes with Patrick - it's actually kinda insane. PS - I'm not a Chiefs fan nor am I a Bills fan, this is just a wild conversation to observe as a third party who looks at both QB's and asks "Which is better?"

It's so hard to have a genuine conversation on it because pat has rings and allen doesn't. As a bills fan in 2018-19 even early in 2020 I was just looking at mahomes and saying yeah idk he's just doing stuff no one else is. Now the last 3 seasons I'm seeing allen do all the stuff mahomes does and alot of stuff he can't do. And he's done it now with 3 different offensive coordinaters and a defensive minded head coach. I think ability and play level wise allen is better but he's gonna have to get a couple rings before most people will accept that. If josh allen played in Andy reids system and or with travis kelce it would just be madness. Look what he did with diggs and diggs hated him for the last 2 seasons 😂

Josh Allen is having a great season. His play is highlight worthy, but his stats aren’t super remarkable. It’s crazy how talking heads will bend over backwards to bring Mahomes accomplishments down. He still hasn’t ended a season worse than losing in OT in the AFCCG! That’s insane. It will happen sometime, but it hasn’t yet. Allen, Burrow, and Jackson just flat out don’t have the accomplishments that Mahomes has. Some of it is of course attributable to great coaching, but even a casual can see the plays he makes on the field, especially when it matters. His receivers were the worst in the league last year! Their injuries are brutal this year and they’re 12-1. Allen is great, but it’s ridiculous to pretend he’s surpassing Mahomes with one season.
