@fc7596
@fc7596 2 жыл бұрын
I have to disagree with you here, he really hasn't evolved his game. He's still the same player, raw power and great passing ability. What sets him apart is his longevity. He added a 3 point shot a bit but still isn't a really consistent. The biggest thing he hasn't evolved is his free throw shooting, it's actually gotten worse. The crazy part is how everything else makes up for what he's lacking

I think that Wilt Chamberlain has to be talked about as the greatest athlete ever. Not only was he one of the greatest basketball players of all time, but he was also a legendary volleyball player as well as being extremely proficient in all aspects of track and field. He was extremely strong yet extremely quick around the court, and his productivity only declined because he needed to sacrifice his scoring volume to get his teammates involved. Wilt’s early years around the time where he averaged 50 ppg and over 20 rpg were the only times he was fully committed to utilizing the most of his abilities, and even then, he barely put in any effort at all and still dominated the league. Furthermore, despite his freakish traits, he chose to shoot more fadeaway jumpers because it was too boring for him to dunk over everyone on each possession. LeBron has been incredible, but Wilt is just on another level regarding overall athleticism.

@@jrsmith1998 wilts verticle ranged from -2-+4 from lebrons, ofc he was a lot stronger and clocked the same speed as prime lebron all while being 7"1 275lbs, the difference in thier strength is far to large of a gap, his verticle at best was 2 inches worse then lebron(the thing lebrons verticle has been measured from a running start all clips of Wilts verticke were of a standing jump) both of them ran the same 40 yard time. @@jrsmith1998 wilt literally had this knee broken and jaw broken due to the beating he was taking in the paint and wilt was taking it coast to coast on many plays because he'd get to the basket before the other big can get there due to his speed, wilt during his prime could snatch a block from 13ft in the and dunk it on the other side while getting a n 1, if wilt never got Injured purposefully by his opponents who knows what he could've shown, he was literally gonna retire after his rookie season due to the injuries he was receiving every day so ofc he couldn't last 19 seasons if lebron battled the way wilt did to get his point lebron would be out in 13 seasons along with the fact medical and technology wasn't as good in the 60s. But we if we compare what they were like in thier primes wilt could block shots far higher, dunk with far more power, have equal speed, also last thing wilt was able to dunk from the free throw line while in college which is why ur no longer allowed to do that, as wilt in college would take 2-3 steps back from the free throw time take of and dunk and I think k we can all agree no one else in nba history can do this nor snatch balls up to 12 feet-13 feet above the ground or block sky hooks at its apex.

Yes bc he has been in the spotlight since 17 years young. Lived up to the hype. Got drafted by his home state. Brought them their first ring over a decade after his rookie szn. Never had a bad year. No injury ever stunted his game. Has been a all-star every year since 2005. Has competed in ten nba finals. Invest heavily into his body ( reason #1 he's still playing at a high level at 37) ... So even tho he lost six of those finals, ill say for my generation & maybe even beyond that, he is the BEST ATHLETE/BASKETBALL THAT EVER LIVED! But yet again there is Kobe Bryant but he's a different breed Now how you gone deny all that.. LeBron James is the great. As much as stats is a good argument of a player's greatness with ball sports, I hardly agree it should translate as a major category. Take Westbrook for example. He has good offensive stats before he transferred to the Lakers, but did it translate well once he suited up? Hell, no. In fact, he became a defensive liability to the team since he doesn't engage in defense now as much as he did when he was in OKC.

In Basketball, sure you have an argument. But outside? We have a lot of old guys dominating at their sport at the age of 40. If we look at boxing, Pacquiao just beat the number 3 Welterweight in the world back in 2019 as an undersized 40 year old. Being in the top 10 in the world of boxing at the age of 40 is insane. Then if we go one step further we have Bernard Hopkins, dude was a champion in his late 40's. That kind of longevity proves how determined and physically gifted he was. If Lebron can continue his career at 40+, then he'll have a much solid argument for being the greatest athlete.

LeBron James is the best basketball player from 2010 to 2020. He gets that decade in the NBA, and that's it. Kobe was the best from 2000 to 2010, Jordan the best from 1990 to 2000, Bird the best from 1980 to 1990, Maravich the best from 1970 to 1980(college included), Wilt the best from 1960-1970. That's just the NBA. Michael Phelps, Simone Biles, and Usain Bolt are some of the greatest athletes ever. Considering how many cyclists use PED, supposedly, Lance Armstrong is one of the greatest athletes ever. Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, Babe Ruth, and Ken Griffey, Jr. in baseball. NFL? Jerry Rice and Randy Moss, Tom Brady, who won for two decades, Barry Sanders, Walter Payton, Adrian Peterson, and Lawrence Taylor. Wayne Gretzky in hockey. Messi and Ronaldo(Brazil) in Soccer. Tiger Woods in golf. Sugar Ray Robinson, Julio Chavez, and Ali in Boxing. I know I'm missing many, but there's no greatest athlete of all time. There's the greatest athletes of all-time, and there's the greatest in various sports.

People saying MJ jumps higher and is more 'agile'....Lebrons early days he flowed and was more fluid. Lebron can do EXACTLY the same thing MJ did. Lebron has the ability, he is capable. His movement in his later years and now is stiff becuse of his size and weight. Dude is beefy and that is why he doesnt look as nimble as MJ. BUTTTTTTT if you are talking about points in the paint or even dunking, Lebron is more efficient and has more points. I bring that up because of Jordans ability to fly in the air and finish at the rim (which i assume his stans are talkin about when it comes to his vert and acrobatic finishes). Wanna take it further? Lebron has a better percentage at the 3 point line with more shots. His shot selection has had, and even more now, includes fadeaways, mid range shots and even deeper threes. Look at his younger days and he was flying on the dunks too. The only thing you can knock lebron in is his freethrows, and even lack of defense (today with his old ass), yet somehow with his style of play, doesnt get as many freethrow attempts as he should. But its like saying Zach LaVine is the goat because he floats in the air. Its impossible to say who even the goat is because every single NBA player is talented. But only few impact the game like these two did. Its like having jordan play a game of horse with anyone in the nba. People are able to mimic his play and do things he can do, why arent they mentioned in the debate? Accolades? Ok MJ is the "goat" to yall, but say he only played for like 5 years got injured and retired. Will he still be in the goat debate today? Or not even close? He's still MJ right? Shouldnt his talent alone supposedly be enough for the goat debate or is it cus his rings? (Which he needed help to obtain). Another example, tom brady has a shit ton of rings and is considered the "best" but put him against some other qb's side by side, he lacks talent and speed and strength and agility. He aint no Lamar or Wilson. He has good vision a decent arm and was on great teams but hes the goat cus of team rings. Whos to say LBJ isnt the goat? MJ fans refuse to believe it is closer than what they prefer. He leads the league in a bundle of stats, surpassed the greats and people wanna knock him cus he complains too much (which is todays game). Dont forget he even played mid 2000's with the older type players. He dunks and blocks guys(with a full head of steam) bigger than him. He is a PASS FIRST FACILITATOR ALL AROUND PLAYER with a crazy high IQ for the game. He passes MJ in points with LESS shot attempts and LESS free throws made with a better true shooting percentage and a less usage rate percentage (somehow). Lebron knew the gane since he entered the NBA at his young age. He didnt need Phil Jackson (who helped even Kobe win all his rings and Jordan refused to play in the NBA for) tell him that there are other players on the team too. They also made the MJ comparison when homie was in the womb. Not him... the world. Give him his credit man. If only homie had decent teams or the same championship style team when he won the rings, homie would have had more than 6 rings. Imagine if he had PRIME Wade and Bosh with even Allen for those 10 finals appearances. The stars didnt align for him i guess. Most scrutinized player of all time.
