The worst part about this is how terrible it is for the planet. Cruise ships make the most greenhouse gases per passenger out of any mode of transportation, and they’re completely unnecessary. People don’t even go on cruises for the sole purpose of boats; transportation. You can go to a waterpark on land, a casino on land, concerts on land, and restaurants on land. Doing them on a boat is pointless.

@@JoongKittyCruise ships main purpose is to be on the ship for entertainment. They often visit different ports, but not necessarily. The cruise ship itself is the destination of the holiday. Ocean liners on the other hand are basically ferries, albeit often more luxurious (if you have the money). The Titanic’s main purpose was to move people across the Atlant Ocean. Ocean liners were basically the only way to travel between continents until air travel became much cheaper.

To explain why cruises are cheaper than a lot of land based living options; 1. The same company controls everything on board and buys all the stuff in bulk. 2. The staff is payed terribly. 3. They do not offer the kind of medical care you would expect in a nursing home. Living on a cruise ship really only makes financial sense when compared to assisted living, (where old people get non medical assistance with their day to day lives) or to constantly traveling around as a digital nomad (someone who works online and roams the world since their job isn’t tied to a location.) Otherwise, you will probably run into problems.
