Good afternoon Forrest. I have heard about this technique from you a while ago. I do it daily and it is really extraordinary! Its amazing that something that seems so "simple" can be so life changing. I got the inspiration from within to do it every night when I wake up for no reason and rather than just lying there with some monkey mind I do the Om Japa 7 times in every chakra. it is extraordinary! Thank you my brother.

Thanks for the nice video. What do you do though when the source of ones anger isn't in the past but in the present? For example like a constantly noisy neighbor raising ones anger again and again. Same procedure?
@ForrestKnutson2 жыл бұрын
When the source is continuous it's much more of a sticky situation. In that case we might not be able to resolve the negative emotion completely. However there is always a chance of transcendence which is what we're trying to accomplish. But in an ongoing practical situation it's always great to start with things which are very practical. So for example you could tape up or staple up blankets on that wall the whole wall which is being a bother. That will dampen some of the sound and give you a little more peace. You could also make a plan how you're going to move and find a better place a more suitable place for yourself and just having that plan in place will help to calm the mind and the emotions. And of course you can practice OM Japa in the chakras. Just know that you probably won't be able to fully resolve it until there is freedom from the experience. ...Sometimes time is the ultimate teacher. When I was a monk in the postulate ashram all the young monks were given rooms right next to the train tracks. I'll never forget the first time it woke me up at 4:30 in the morning, I thought the train was actually going to come through my room. But after living a year in the same room the train could come rumbling by and I barely noticed. There was nothing I could do about it at the time so I just accepted it eventually.

Namaste Forrest ji, when i don't practise mahamudra i feel that the energies get disturbed as soon as i get up from my meditation posture. The mahamudra helped me with this. But i feel the same disturbance of the energies when i eat something(especially when i am meditating a bit more) and i feel a kind of pressure in the chest/ribs. Can you please guide Forrest ji? It kind of feels like a polarity problem but why does it happens when i eat anything, even when I drink water?
@ForrestKnutson2 жыл бұрын
As we reenter our life, we want to get out of the Deep Freeze response that we've been in, and we want the energies to read and live in the front Channel and digestive channel of the body. Otherwise if we stay in the freeze as we are eating and drinking then the digestion will be interrupted which is what I think you are describing a little bit. So one thing that you can do which is very helpful is to rub very quickly the front of the body and the face quite a bit. This will reawaken the ventral vagal, and create balance. Also, mahamudra will do this beautifully at the end of your meditation, as well.

Is practicing hong-sau the equivalent of doing om-japa in the forehead chakra? Can you do hong-sau in the chakras (by focusing on each chakra when doing hong sau) instead of om-japa in the chakras? it seems like the same thing except instead of OM, you're mentally chanting hong and sau. I like hong sau.
@MysticalTaurus3 ай бұрын
Hong sau technique doesn't involve chakras ... It is observing the breath mentally chanting while keeping concentration in kutasta.. but here Forrest is referring to mentally accessing the chakras and mentally chanting om in each chakra for brief time. You can find this in srf lessons.

sorry to be a pest but I'd like to hear your thoughts on how om jappa in the chakras compares to the inner smile practice advocated by mantak chia
@ForrestKnutson2 жыл бұрын
The inner smile is really magical because it is teaching self love and forgiveness in a very deep way straight through the very grounded body. This can give some similar results. But the OM Japa is more of a dissolving element and will cause the Consciousness to roll up the spine towards the brain in a much more Dynamic way. That being said a combination of these two techniques would not be a waste at all in fact it would be beautiful.

Hi Forrest, A bit off topic but I’m curious if you’ve heard of Win Hof and what you might think of his method ? Tx
@ForrestKnutson2 жыл бұрын
I really love the amount of exposure he's given to yogic practices. However I've had a number of students tell me that they were practicing it and the hyperventilation at the beginning and the amount of stress it was putting on their body was a little too much a few times and those times it made them feel very sick. So because of this it's really not one of my favorite practices. However the breath holds are a wonderful thing so long as you are working into them in a very relaxed, slow, easy progression. I don't much care for the way that he just jumps into a minute. I think it's a bit Reckless to give to everybody. I would much rather see people slowly stretching themselves and to holding the breath for a minute. This would be much less dangerous and people would get much more balanced results. It's just like stretching the body. You want to stretch it in such a way that you are making gains every time you stretch but not so far that you injure yourself.

@ForrestKnutson2 жыл бұрын
Some of these meditation instructions are very well-meaning, but very misguided. Because they are asking you to reproduce the results that somebody else had. That's why I stick with very grounded and very practical results, which is what I would recommend instead. As you are practicing your meditation look to see if you can notice the four proofs that I talk about so much on this channel. Those will teach you that you are on the right track and they are grounded in the body itself.
