In a sea of so much bad fitness info on KZbin, Sean has been the most solid voice of reason and sincerity for me for so many years. He is for me a top KZbin OG. I can honestly say he has helped me more than any single source on KZbin since I started my fitness journey many years ago and for this, I will always be grateful. I respect him so much because he really has been trying to give people the no-BS truth for the everyday guy who is natural. Maybe he did not get everything 100% right (as new science evolves, who can?) but his intentions are 100% legit. In this regard, he is very much like you...just a cool level-headed guy trying to weed out all the stuff that doesn't help. Plus you both are natural so you can relate to the average guy who has absolutely no wish to be a juiced behemoth. I hope you can do a collab with him. He also has a wicked dry sense of humor, so I think you guys would hit it off. PS You misspelled Nalewanyj in your title (forgot the "a").

Sean has been my first introduction to logical and science based fitness. Surely, some advice from his older videos is outdated but that's normal because science evolves. He's 100% legit and has a lot of experience.
@RichardSmith-nd9vk

I wouldn't call Sean "science based". He is just a normal guy giving information, he did that video where Athlean-X got involved where he used scientific word salad and he didn't know what he was talking about. I'd put him in the same category as Jeff Nippard. People think they are scientific because they brand themselves as scientific and they are young and hip on youtube, but they are non experts and I think a lot of times it really shows when they sometimes report science that they don't understand and screw it up. It reminds me a lot of when I was watching the series The Strongest Man in History where Eddie Hall, Brian Shaw, Nick Best and Robert Oberst lift heavy weights. In the comments people wrote that the series is so great etc. and they said it's educational. No, Dateline is educational. Reading a book is educational! haha. Watching youtubers like Sean is the opposite of science based. You're watching non experts. You can say he's a good youtuber, I'm not saying watching him isn't a net positive. But it is important to know that is the opposite of following exercise scientists and professionals.

Jeff has a masters in exercise science, always sites his sources while being adequately critical of the research he does site, and has experience as both a competitive bodybuilder and competitive powerlifter. Idk how his hypertrophy expertise practically compares to other big science guys like Wolfe, Israetel, Pak, Henselman, or Helms but they are all in the conversation. Saying otherwise is ridiculous. Jeff is also actively involved with research, along with Pak and Wolf.

Sean N., Geoff Schofield, Jeff Nippard, Dr. Mike I. and, of course, Dr. Milo W. are all pretty good. I stopped watching Athlean X when he was busted deadlifting fake weight plates. Greg D. is just tiring. If you are only using integers, then 9 is a fair rating for Sean N. If you decide to use decimals, he is above 9.

I've found Sean to make a lot of sense, so the click-baity title feels suggestive that the answer is "yes" had me a little concerned. While there are nuances, I find a lot of consistency among people like Sean, Jeff Nippard, Mike I, and Jeremy Ethier.

Where to start… 1. I’ve been following Sean for over 10 years. Bought his training plans, bought his supplements and have looked forward to his content drops forever. 2. Sean IS the original natural no BS influencers on planet earth. As someone pointed out his older content may be dated but that is by definition to be expected. 3. Dr. Wolf’s reactions seem honest and respectful. He did mention the “shorts.” You need to see Sean’s content from years ago when he would do deep dives on training topics that were honest and very informative. 4. I was surprised that Dr. Wolf doubled down on not knowing how to pronounce Sean’s name. Of the HUNDREDS of videos Sean has produced he states his name in a clear manner (don’t get me wrong, the spelling in crazy) For a truth seeking scientist to not be able to find the correct way to pronounce a person’s name is baffling. Maybe it’s a passive aggressive thing. 5. To end on a positive note, it is clear that Dr. Wolf is an up and coming KZbinr that is gaining a lot of respect and for good reason. I wish his all the best. 👍

Look, I know it's different for most people, but I absolutely need a larger calorie surplus. Especially considering I track everything and my earlier bulks were 450 calories and my later bulks were closer to 700. It made a huge difference. So to me it's obvious. As I have moved away from my newbie gains territory and in later bulks started adding more calories, I ended up with better gains. But I have a naturally very slim build (started out tall and lanky) and generally have had trouble gaining weight my entire life. I do, however, agree most of my friends that bulk get a little too fat at 500 calories. It may also have to do with my high activity level but I doubt that. I think it's like almost everything else in fitness: you have to see what works for your body. My takeaway is, don't be afraid to go up on calories if you have tried bulking lower and AREN'T gaining very much fat at all.

10-12 sets is enough. Above that you're just either wasting time or overdoing it. If you have time and like the gym so much go ahead and do it since it works as the science proved it, but I can't really fathom anybody with a job and family will go out on their way to the gym to do like 20+ sets per week for a muscle group.

I encountered Mr. Sean's content in the year 2020 and have been a dedicated follower of his work ever since. Unlike many other fitness influencers, he does not employ manipulative tactics to influence his audience. Instead, his videos consistently demonstrate a logical and well-reasoned approach, catering to both beginners and intermediate fitness enthusiasts. As I explore the content of other fitness influencers, I find myself increasingly drawn to Mr. Sean's work due to its superior quality and credibility.

Those studies on maximum Hypertrophy with 20+ sets need to be repeated in the context of a real muscle building program. No one does 52 sets of quads per week while neglecting all the other muscles just because that’s what drives most Hypertrophy. If such studies do exist, I’d appreciate your take on it.
@hzk1234
@hzk1234 3 ай бұрын
If studies show equal hypertrophy in free weights vs machines, shouldn't that be an argument to use free weights? I'm assuming the study tested the target muscle. If they are the same there, free weights definitely have added muscle growth on non target stabilizing muscles (besides for their better functional cross-over)
