Is the 2022 Toyota Supra 3.0 a BETTER performance car than a BMW M240i?

The Supra name is one of the most iconic in the auto industry. Toyota continues on with the Supra for 2022. This sports car is meant to go up against the Porsche GT4, BMW M2, Nissan Z, and BMW M240i. On the outside there are 19in wheels, LED lighting and a very unique shape. On the inside you will find leather sport seats, digital gauge display, and some cargo space. Under the hood is a 3.0L turbocharged straight-6 pumping out 382HP. Is the 2022 Toyota Supra 3.0 a BETTER performance car than a BMW M240i?

The buffeting can be eliminated in the aftermarket with wind buffeting eliminator. You can get a carbon fiber or non-cf. A downpipe, intake, and tune would definitely push it over 420 whp. This Supra is geared towards the aftermarket and enthusiasts.

A first gen Supra was the first car I went over 100 mph in. My girlfriends dad had one and let me drive it and did triple digits in 1988. WANTED a Supra ever since!! Now that I can afford one it's a BMW!!! 🤔😂

When the GR Supra first came out 2 years ago, I was very skeptical about it being Auto only, but now that the GR Supra (sharing some parts with the Z4) has a manual, I am so excited to see it next month at my Toyota dealership.

I’ve only seen one of these on the road around my area and it’s pretty sharp looking. Love the color combo. You’d think it would be a tad quicker than the BMW being lighter but the AWD in the BMW is the difference. I think the Supra would be more fun to toss around. Joe - It's tough to decide between the Supra vs M240, since the Supra has so many BMW parts. But on looks alone, I go with the Supra. The M240 has too many angles that do not flow through out the car. If anything, I like the previous generation 2-series better.

The 6MT Supra will be THE ONE to get for any enthusiasts. It's going to become an instant classic. Mk5 with a 6-speed as it should have been. Even though it'll be a touch slower, it's going to be the driver's drive compared to the new 400z. Civic Type R is probably going to be the nearest competition but that is a FWD ! Just can't be beat with the feel of a 6 speed RWD roadster.

I rented one on Turo for a few days. I loved it. This Supra is a magnet on the street and highway. but the location of the wireless charging with plasticky thing was super annoying. For me, If i can afford Porsche, I will buy the 718 Cayman 4.0. If not, I will buy the Supra.

Regardless of performance, I tried to buy a Supra but Toyota was miserable to deal with. BMW dealers are much better at selling BMWs than Toyota is at selling BMWs. I started shopping for a brand new 2023 Supra 3.0 Premium, ended my car search by buying a BMW M240i xDrive and I could not be happier. I got the better car for less money.

This is easily the best performance car in it's price range when you factor in styling, aftermarket performance upgrades, and expected reliability. People seem to forget that the B58 in the Supra was required to pass Toyota's stringent quality control standards & stress tests prior to selling. It's a major reason why you don't hear about any major reliability concerns from the Supra since their release almost 3 years ago. Great highway mileage makes it a potential daily driver and weekend monster All-In-One, and it consistently breaks necks anywhere you go. The value of the 3.0 will stand the test of time!

The left or right axle shaft may be missing a retaining ring, which could allow the axle shaft to separate while driving….How long has this design been out and it’s still getting recalls? Also there’s 485 technical service bulletins for the 2021 models. Average number is under 100. Camaro is at 485.

M240 is easily modded as well. Same engine. But with all wheel drive and a back seat, more practical. Especially for us northern folks. Stock for stock, m240i beats it 0 to 60. Love the body styling on the supra better. But both great vehicles. Was about to pull the trigger on an m240 but recent news of a possible xdrive M2 has me second guessing.

Ever since the Toyota Supra A90 came out, I loved the styling. The styling of the new Supra definitely screams that its a Toyota, not a BMW, and this silver color fits this car to a tee. I would personally take the Supra over the M240i because I prefer the styling of the Supra, and the fact that you could get a manual for the 2023 model year is a game changer. I'm surprised BMW doesn't offer the M240i with a manual transmission. They're probably saving it for the M2. Can't wait for BMW to unveil the new M2 and I'm looking forward to some On Throttle action with the manual transmission Supra.

Looks like Toyota is on a cost cutting mission considering the era of gas vehicles will inevitably reach an end ahead. In my country they have considered cross badging some of the best selling models from Suzuki. 😢 So with the Supra, they collaborated with BMW to power it. They're so much out of the best performance car OEM race, unlike the Nissan which is still focused on the GT-R's

I bought the original Supra in 1978. But THIS is a wonderful machine. Interior is stunning! Performance is surprisingly kick-ass! Sorry Joe, but I can't agree about the styling at all. Well #1 that was BMW's middle finger to Toyota ... that they accepted. #2 not everyone needs a manual to have fun or to properly shift. Not everyone wants to shift all the time. i own 2 manuals and i love to shift them, but at the end of the day, an automatic is just easier. I enjoy the motor and its feel and its rev rather than how its shifted. All 3 of my automatics have sport shift so i can rev it to when i am ready to shift, YES its not the same but its the best of both worlds. I can also say that in an automatic, there is no better feel than launching from a stop light and going from 0-120 mph with NO shift interuptions.
