No crap from me on crab-walking, I was a munitions systems specialist in the Airforce and we used "tugs" with crab steering every day to haul trailers of munitions, push things around, etc.. I also spent a lot of personal time in the Utah deserts off roading. Crab steering is really useful if uou actually *drive* the vehicle in extraordinary conditions and having a civilian truck that crabs is terrific, especially with larger trucks in tighter spots. The most *fun* we had with them is when we came back to the shop to park at end of shift and we'd all head for a parking space, crank the wheel, hit the lever (independent rear steering) and throw them sideways into a parking space, at speed and see who could slide into their spot the straightest to the lines. 😂 If you're actually going off road and into tight spots, crab is useful but who's taking a $150k vehicle into the rocks and trees?? If your pulling a trailer of some sort and hit some tight spots then, *occasionally,* having "crabability" lets you maneuver and line up & hook-up or park a little easier, great... Other than that, it's just strictly a toy to show off when you park it at the club in front of "the boys." 😊 I doubt it's independent, from what I've seen I'd imagine you hit a switch and then either tighten your radius or side-slide it, both commensurately with the turn of the wheel. (Does it only slide or can you steer the opposite direction to tighten the turning radius? That's the most helpful). The "slide only" crabbing would be "better than nothing" but not optimal for true, four wheel steering. Having a lever and manually controlling the direction and degree of crab is ideal to take advantage of the system *but,* it's confusing at first, takes two hands to operate and takes some time to master... I could see it now, people sliding into other cars in Sam's Club parking lots all the time. 😆 As I say, it's a novel concept and useful, in theory but in a civilian configuration, it's mostly a toy to show off on the boat ramp, trying to line up your trailer. There's *no way* im paying $150-200k for an electric Hummer. The one place you'd really need it is the one place you wouldn't go, way off road up in the mountains or out in the desert somewhere. Runout of charge because you're slow-crawling around and using extra juice everytime you crab walk and finding yourself stranded until the helicopters find you is *not* how I'd like to spend my vacation.
@3brothersrc418Ай бұрын
A couple of things. First of all, I appreciate you trying to see how "real" the offer is. Before I bought my BMW I found the same thing. And that is unrealistic prices simply lure you in. However I will say that the Hummer EV is proven to have a range as claimed. Also, camping with one towing a trailer is very doable. And no, you won't run out of battery unless you are very naive, and so you would with petrol also. I have an H2, and the Hummer EV has a better range. It's definitely a cool toy, and probably my next purchase, after depreciation 😊

why would you not use the electric vehicle as your daily driver? Daily driving is where the savings come in. It makes zero sense to spend that kind of money on an EV if your not going to take advantage of the savings at the pump. That gas truck should be the one you drive on the weekends to the mountains. If you drive less than 300 miles a day, the EV is where its at because you charge up over night at your home.

Lol; you were walking away before you finished the conversation; you completely shut down further convo. No one deals with lot sales anyway. You probably know this well, but if you email the Internet sales/lease folks, and simply state what you want to get the deal, it takes away the b.s. If they want the sale; if they can do the deal, they'll commit in writing to that deal. I have never walked into a dealership without my deal already completely worked out via email. I always buy under invoice, and I have never been jacked around about a written deal. I've purchased 10+ vehicles this way. Why do you say there is an EV mandate? I heard a few people mention the mandate is unconstitutional but from my understanding the EPA has a goal they want to reach by 2030 but I don’t see anything about a mandate.
