I’m an old guy who loves tech. I just picked up the X4 because I want to try it out and see how creative I can be with it. I also plan on taking it with me on my Harley rides, not for the actual ride, but places I visit. I also picked up the Insta 360 Ace Pro.

How is the X4s still single lense camera mode at night vs say an average cellphone photo at night? Ive just got my X4 and my wife is so disappointed with the photo quality at night, making her look darker, less clear, she says she prefers her phone😢. Am I missing something key?

I ordered one last night. After watching a lot of reviews and my yt feed being perfectly tuned on this device for the time being, ive learnt a lot. Although, your use case is very similar to mine. Im not an avid action guy either. I got it for the creative shots. I really like the features this device has and can't wait to try those out. I mainly shoot with a mirrorless in combination with a gopro 7. I dont want to use the karma grip that often and the 360 would be very easy to use for my wife. She doesnt even have to point and shoot. I do a lot of editing so I think that the 360 will add an extra layer. Thanks for the insights!

Love your perspective on this. I agree anyone can hold the invisible selfie stick while it's recording and you're sure to get something good! No need to worry if they completely missed "the shot"

Sorry no I only have the One R but if the x3 is doing everything you want, maybe hold off for a sale or wait till the 6 to see if there is bigger differences

Yeah if you already have an action cam that does enough, maybe hold off for a sale since the full price is a lot. Or keep using the GoPro until it breaks then you have a solid reason to upgrade!

I used X2 and X3 for the past two years. Pros - Maximizes amount of video sources. Cons - extra work on editing

The editing is definitely kind of strange for reframing 360 but once you get used to it I think the process is quick enough

@@creativepicnl it's not really a "mode". That was a joke. But the longer the selfie stick, the more distance you create which after reframing can give very drone-esque type sequences.

@@creativepicnl 360 cameras definitely take awhile to understand workflow and how you want to shoot them. The magic is really unlocked when you use an extended selfie pole because you can mimic a lot of low level drone shots. Some shots are even easier using a 360 camera instead of a drone, like an overhead shot panning down and zooming through a car window through the car.

Look at @Roos-Reviews Further Stitching video. The idea of the 360 is to give an option of catching stuff out of the intended screen that you might not have seen at the time. Look at the stitching of him walking in a field. Not so hot. Also, I wonder what becomes of the INSV files if Insta disappears? It is a proprietary format that requires their software to extract anything usable. It is a pricey novelty.

That's a good point. I will check out his video about the stitching. It is true that insta360 disappear and we would be left with a paperweight. But it seems they have good revenue and make good products so hopefully they will continue to grow!

@@azvisuals Another thing to think about is that most of the Insta stuff (just like DJI stuff) requires a phone app to install or use all the features. At some point, US Congress is going to get hip that things like TikTok are not the security issue by themselves. It is the Phone Apps with the permissions to take EVERYTHING off a phone and send it back to the company. Your addressbook, photos, turn the cam and mic on and off, all the other points of paranoia. With the CCP, this is an issue first because of Taiwan and then just because it is valuable info. Great stuff that can be gleaned for accessing any accounts for which there are apps on the phone. It is not BS that a company like this is obliged to give the CCP everything. Good chance this stuff will be outlawed in a few years in the US. Probably in the EU first.

I have it since a few days and there is a lot of information I have to work through before understanding this thing. For normal people, NO it is not worth it. It is not a camera you pick up and go with. Use your phone for that. The lens protection is….problamatic, lot’s of reflections and flaring…. It is a problem. For normal people….. stick to your phone…..

The main advantage for "normal" people is that you can record a multifaceted event such as a party/fair/carnival/sports event and know that you won't miss recording anything. It can all be done in "post".

Appreciate your perspective! I agree a phone is much easier to use but extremely limited if your goal is to capture 360 or extreme wide angle footage. I found the tutorial when first booting up the camera to be simple and straight forward. There's really not a ton of settings to go through!

Hey. From my info gathering I saw there’s a setting you have to enable once you put on the lens guard. If you don’t do this, you will get those lens flares. Can’t tell you where exactly to find the setting though..

@@lawr0 The x4 does recognize the correct lens guards, that is not the problem.. But I will sureley have a look for them. I already did hit some treebrancjes with the standard ones on

@@videolan O sure, it is versatile, but that does not mean anyome can use it. Insta360 did a good attempt to make the userinterface understandable, but it ain't no iphone :-)

that will not happen, because of the small sensor. Maybe once a X5 with 1 inch sensor.

Yeah there is only so much they can do with the same sensor as x3. Processing can help but there's not going to be a huge difference since the hardware is mostly the same
