Is There Too Much Competition As a Real Estate Agent? I chose this topic just like I choose the rest, it’s subjects I think about while becoming a Real Estate agent. Competition as a real estate agent is discussed often. It's especially discussed or thought about when deciding to become a real estate agent. I searched KZbin, but only found the main coaches in the game talking about ways to beat the competition. I was interested in facts, stats and how the best think about competition.

Hey Callum. Unfortunately, it appears that automation/digitization will replace the vast majority of agent/brokerage demand in an already saturated industry over the next decade. The disruptive technology has already arrived . We have seen what companies the likes of Air bnb can do to the tourism industry and Uber/Lift to the taxi industry. The revenues and marketshare have been significantly impacted, to the point of sheer desperation in some cases. We can also see that this pandemic situation has only served to speed up the implementation of digitization of industries globally. Unemployment at historic rates leading to significant market saturation due to training being one of the lighter barrier-to-entry career pathways, obsoletion, increasing competition, recurring expenses(Which may or may not rise/fluctuate), cyclical downturn exposure, etc etc... Clearly, there is a lot to consider if you want to approach this venture from a cost vs benefit vs sustainability perspective. Its fine to dream, but its not realistic to suggest to the local YMCA basketball star that he can make the NBA if he works hard enough. Like any investment, there is an entry point and although you never want to try to time the market, the job market is a different beast all together. While it may be unlikely for brick and mortar Realtors to disappear entirely, this really doesn't seem like a sustainable career path. Comments?

Sure, I do live my life by hard work and positivity. You definitely can poke holes in that. I do dream, but I also embrace uncertainty. Theres a lot of money betting on iBuyer to grow. In my opinion if you take being a real estate agent and compare it to starting any small business, (that's what I consider it) the risk is not that bad. But I do agree, if you believe there is no long term future, AND you think it's competitive, I would start betting on the other guys. Myself as an entrepreneur, I feel theres so many avenues to build a business around this licence even with taking into consideration all the disruptors present. Hedge?..become a Real Estate Agent, invest in Open House...? 😀

Competition is inevitable in almost every aspect of business. Word of mouth is imo the best marketing and selling tool. Question: Do you think starting in your early 40's is too late? I don't think so. But I would appreciate your input. Thank you for your videos.

Yes you can get your licence if you are a permanent resident of Canada. You will be starting at the bottom and you will start to learn about the business. You get paid by commission so you will be paid with how many deals you make. If you don't know anyone in the country you will be prospecting for new clients everyday. You could do better than anyone that lives here with the right work ethic.

Hey Praveen. I have already signed with eXp Realty. I should be finished this program end of the month at which point I will send my transcripts and sign the last page of the RECO application. I did marketing for real estate for over 2 years prior to starting to get my licence and I have a huge interest in business in general so I have always had my eye on eXp's business model. The goal is to have a great group of people around me all providing value to each other and growing our invested interest, which is what eXp gives you for doing the same work as other brokerages. Hey. Yes still the same as I feel with this video. There will be failure for those that don't put the work in and there will be frustration from established agents that are set in their ways and losing to new competition.
