Who is Dimash? From Kazakhstan, beginning his singing career at age 5 (he's 28 now), Dimash was accepted into the most distinguished music academy in his country. His range extends from the top of the bass register to the highest notes of the coloratura soprano and whistle register. His first digital music album "ID" went platinum in only 37 seconds after release, and 3x platinum in only one hour, and 5x platinum in only one day on Chinese music platforms In December 2019, he made his US debut in New York at the Barclays Center. Dears (those he calls his fans) traveled from 68 different countries, 43 states & 2 US territories, and was sold out. Thank you for discovering Dimash and welcome to a beautiful world of music. Dimash is a 29-years old singer from Kazakhstan and believe me, you’ve seen nothing at all. In my opinion you have discovered the best singer in the world. He has perfect pitch and currently has a vocal range of 6 octaves. Not in one song (mostly anyway😅). However, if you include the notes he has sung live in his concerts so far, you get almost 8 octaves (7.7 from vocal fry C1 (B0) to the whistle register D8; this note is no longer on the piano). At least that's what he's shown us so far. And that in all registers. His voice is the result not only of his God-given talent, but also of his almost 25 years of hard daily training. From the age of 5 he attended music school in his hometown of Aktobe. He plays several instruments like piano, dombra (a kazach instrument), drums, marimba and more. He has classical as well as contemporary vocal training and sings in different genres from opera to pop, jazz, Kazakh folk, ballads and he even raps a bit. And often he skillfully mixes several genres in one song. Mainly classic and pop, so he created a new crossover genre. And meanwhile in more than 10 languages. The latest songs (from Tokyo Jazz Festival in November 2021) are Ikanaide in Japanese and at his concert in Almaty on September 23, 2022 he sang a new song in Spanish (about 7 languages in one concert!). And at his concert in Yerevan on April 29, 2023, he sang an Armenian folk song for the first time (it has to be about 15 languages so far). He sings no mainstream and is a completely independent artist. He is managed by his father Kanat, who founded his own company "DimashAli Creative Center". The logo can be seen at the beginning of many of Dimash's videos. Maybe that’s the reason you never heard of him yet. He doesn’t sell his soul to a music label. He doesn’t want to be dictated by money when he has to sing what, when, where and how. Many of my favorite songs are in his native tongue. He is a nice, intelligent, respectful and humble person. Sometimes he also can be a little bit goofy, and I love it❤️. He respects people regardless of their original, religion or profession. He truly loves his homeland Kazakhstan and his people with all his heart and always shows it with pride in many of his songs, concerts and interviews. During his concerts in Dubai, Düsseldorf and Prague in 2022, before he performed his song War And Peace, he told the audience he loves all people in every country. And there are no bad nations (only bad leaders). And I absolutely believe this. His concert in September 23, 2022 was in Almaty, Kazakhstan was so amazing and it lasts almost 4 hours. Believe it or not but he really gets better and better. Every time you think you know him and his art, you realize you are so wrong. He's very spiritual and thankful for the gift God has given him. But he also works very hard to constantly improve his vocal skills. He said in an interview that he trains at least 3 hours every day, if necessary, it can be 10 hours to prepare for a concert. He loves swimming and also a lot under water. Maybe that's why he has this large lung capacity to hold the notes as long as he does. He's a singer you can't put in any box. He sings almost every genre there is. Every time you watch a video, expect the unexpected. Even the covers he sings he makes his own and brings elements into the song that you would never expect. Don't be surprised if you get suggestions for songs you may have already seen. Dimash has different versions of many of the same songs. They are all worth seeing. Not only is he perfect at singing and performing, he's also an incredibly good actor. Check out his music videos. They are amazing. You think I’m exaggerating? No, I don’t think so😄. Opera2 was the second performance of The Singer competition in 2017 in China. The Singer is a show in China where only established singers are invited to perform. All the singers invited to this show are already well-known artists in China who have already won awards. Dimash was invited as the first foreigner as a wild card and the youngest in the history of this show. They became aware of him because he had already won some important competitions in Kazakhstan and Belarus, among others. He was still completely unknown in China. Actually, it was intended that he would only have 1 or 2 appearances. But it came completely different. When he woke up the next morning after his first performance of SOS he was a megastar in China and even found bodyguards outside his hotel room. SOS’ first video had 600 million views when it aired. He was just 22 years old at the time. The song is in Russian. A language he also speaks fluently. The original was from the famous Russian singer named Vitas. The song is very famous and popular in China. The audience already knew what to expect, but were very surprised when Dimash raised the pitch three times. Vitas but only once. The man who raises his fist in the air at the end is Dimash’s father. He came from Kazakhstan to support his son. However, Dimash knew nothing about it when he performed. I think it was very difficult for him at the beginning. You have to imagine, until this competition in China in 2017 he never was alone. Dimash, like many other Kazakhs, has the tradition of living under one roof with the whole family all together. He lives with his grandparents, parents, a sister, a brother an other relatives in the same house. And now he had to go to China alone, didn‘t know the country, didn‘t know the language, didn‘t know the traditions or livestyle in this country and up to that point he spoke (almost) no English, except maybe „Thank you“ and „My name is Dimash“. Only one interpreter came along and that at the age of 22. He was almost a kid to me then (my son is 20 so I can imagine…). And after that performance he saw his dad. So beautiful and emotional. Congrats for finally experiencing and discovering Dimash. Yes, he is considered the best singer in the world, currently. By his peers, music producers, composers, musicians, and teachers. He is classically trained since the age of 5. His parents are opera singers and musicians. He sings in 14 languages, and plays 7 instruments. He has a 6 octave range and his whistle note is off the grand piano. Only 2 notes from the world's record by a male. But he does it for fun during his concerts. In 2017, he was invited as a wildcard entrant to this Chinese TV show, I Am The Singer, where established professional singers compete weekly against each other. I believe this is episode 2. Opera-2 is a Russian song by Vitas. After this one and only performance of Opera-2, Dimash was banned from singing it by Vitas 'due to copyrights', but it was because Dimash sang it at several notes higher than Vitas could! :D In episode 1, Dimash sang his iconic S.O.S. a popular and difficult French song. He blew away the audience and the competitors in the back rooms watching. He was the first act and he won that day outright. There are now numerous versions by Dimash of S.O.S. to choose from. But the first performance live is where it all started for his international stardom. And it's an incredible live performance to be enjoyed. Highly recommended. I first heard DIMASH's miraculous vpoice about 7 years ago and I had goosebumps and and "leaky eyes" that I was never used to having when listening to music. Even when I listen to these same songs now, I am transformed back to the first time hearing him with the same emotions. He’s not only an exceptional vocalist, but also an accomplished musician, and an amazing performer. He's just the best, isn't he?🥰 It's like he's kind of "ruined" music for me though - all the stuff I'd thought I loved before, the bands and singers I'd been such a fan of, started sounding the same - over-produced, inauthentic, radio-friendly and meaningless - whereas, Dimash was pure art! They just couldn't measure up so were gone, replaced, just out of there - and with Dimash having a song or performance for every mood and occasion, what more do we really need, lol? - except more and more Dimash that is! Dimash is from Kazakhstan and is now 29. This video was from 2017 when he was invited as a wild card to a Chinese competition for professional singers (sometimes translated as the Voice and sometimes the Singer) and was the youngest contestant at 22. SOS is the song that launched Dimash to the Chinese public and he went from obscurity in China to needing security the next day as he gained a million fans overnight. SOS is a French Canadian song from the 1978(?) musical Starmania and he did a respectable job of pronunciation. Typically, his first language is Kazakh and he grew up fluent in both Kazakh and Russian. He has since learned some Mandarin (he says it’s very hard) and English. To date, he has sung in over(?) 15 languages with Opera 2 being in Russian. The original song was composed and sung by Russian artist Vitas who has since banned Dimash from performing this song as the Chinese program did not get appropriate copyright permissions for at least a few of the songs. More recently, Dimash has been performing concerts in different venues around the world in his Strangers tour. This is not your typical tour, as new locations are being announced as they are booked. Dimash is reported at times to have a range around 7 octaves, but he doesn’t really specify. It depends on the day. Although SOS could be an interesting “next” for the Canadian link, it would depend whether you wanted the best version (I’d argue the 2021 version), or the one that launched him internationally (2017). Other options (possibly curios) could be Diva Dance (from Fifth Element) or you could check Stranger or any of the newer songs. I’m also in Canada and have been a “dear” (Dimash’s name for his fan base as we are all “dear” to him.) for at least 3 or 4 years now. This is a deep rabbit hole and once you go down, you’ll never go back! Also in Canada, cheers!

Great reaction! I found him at the beginning of the pandemic and now have to listen to him every day. I am a lifelong music fan of all genres but never felt compelled to claim a particular fandom until Dimash. I am now a loud and proud Dear (his name for his fans because we are dear to him like family). This was just a mere taste of what he can do. You’ve barely scratched the surface! This was a singing competition in China though he is from Kazakhstan. He sings in multiple languages, speaks fluent Kazakh and Russian, while his English has improved considerably and some rudimentary Chinese. Everything was absolutely live on this show. SOS is a good next step. Everyone has their favorites. He performed it as his first song on this show and was catapulted into worldwide fame. He also has a Slavic Bazaar version in 2018 and a digital concert version from 2021 (my personal fave). Any one of them is spectacular. So many more songs. You will love this rabbit hole.

His name is Dimash Qudaibergen he is from Kazakhstan, and the song is Opera 2. As for SOS, you can choose from three different versions: (1) A version from the same Chinese singing competition (2017), (2) a version from the Slavic Bazaar song contest in Vitebsk, Belarus (2018), or (3) the most recent version from his 2021 Digital Show, a live streamed concert due to the lockdown, and the most elaborate version of SOS.

Congratulations on diving into the World of Dimash! Friends, you reacted very emotionally to Dimash's performance of the song "Opera 2". And you are absolutely right - this is the best voice of the Earth, period. Dimash became world famous after his first performance at the "I am a Singer" contest in China in 2017. He sang the famous French song "S.O.S." in French. (But, in my opinion, the most spectacular performance was later - in 2019 at the Slavyansky Bazar competition.) The song "Opera 2" became his second performance at the competition in China. Unfortunately, the author of the song forbade Dimash to perform this song in the future. And in order to fully familiarize yourself with the work of Dimash Kudaibergen, the council: first, look at all the other performances of Dimash 2017 in China. And to better appreciate his talent, first read the lyrics of the songs he performs. The most valuable thing in the performance of Dimash's songs, in addition to his incredible voice, is that he does not just "go out and sing", he lives in every song - loves and suffers, rejoices and cries, dies and resurrects.

Welcome to Dimashland. Thank u for a great first reaction to this uniquely talented and extremely humble young man. Once u have entered this rabbit-hole, you will never go back. This was at a competition in China, 2017, PLEASE watch the whole thing as there are backstories to some of the songs, very important to understand, b4 you hear them. Then, his concert in Khazakstan, called Bastau, also in 2017, he was 23. If you can, please try to go chronologically, so u will see, and understand, how he has progressed and improved. He turned 29 in May and is absolutely amazing in each performance. He sings in many languages. You will now get a lot of requests for more recent songs/performances but i believe starting at the beginning you will not miss things he has done from then,until now. From Kazakhstan, born May 1994, 6 ft. 3 in. galaxy class vocalist/instrumentalist/writer/composer/actor/model. He was 22 in this 2017 competition in China called The Singer.....this was the second performance there sung in Russian, where he was being impish, & funny. His first performance is SOS which he sings in French. He sings in multiple languages, multiple styles, & everything is different, from opera, to rock, to jazz, to rap, to classical, to Kazakh folk.....& so on. If he covers others songs, he'll do it waaaaay differently than the original. Expect the unexpected.

That was interesting, that you wanted to read the lyrics. I have not heard anyone get past the high notes on this one. This was from the 2017 Chinese I Am Singer Competition for advanced and already popular Chinese artists, and Dimash was invited, as a well known Asian singer from Kazakhstan, to fill in a late vacancy. He sang SOS as the first singer for the season, and broke Chinese internet with 6 or 12 million overnight views, waking up to finding guards outside his bedroom door, and that accompanied him for the 3 month comp. You needed to be fluent in Mandarin to take part in the 1st prize, so they made him Runnerup. This immediately cast him into International fame, and now his ever growing fan/Dears/clubs are in 150+ countries. Most of his followers are addicted, as his frequencies heal and refresh. Sinful Passion in Russian, Adagio, Passione after teaming up with famous Russian composer pianist, producer of concerts, Igor Ktutoy, Autumn Strong in Mandarin from his Arnau Tour in Ukraine and Marigolds to the mums for Mother’s Day and Vocalese(Know), Stranger, Ave Maria, The Love of Tired Swans, Know, Madamoiselle Hyde, ….neo-classical popera, almost every genre, El Amor En Ti in Spanish, Fly Away, ….endless songs and concert versions, plus studio vids and movie themes etc. If you have the time, I guarantee you will have pleasure in music you never dreamed of.
