the fact that all the rules bend slightly if you're popular enough on both twitch and youtube it makes it very difficult to figure what is actually allowed and what's only allowed from the top earners... which is definitely frustrating....

Pyrocynical has mad a great switch from Twitch to KZbin streaming. He was in a way forced off of Twitch and decided to start streaming on KZbin and it has been great for him. I have been watching his content on KZbin for over 3 years now, and when he started streaming on Twitch I had no intentions on going on that app to watch him. Now I casually watch his steams on KZbin and have realised how annoying Twitch is with the adds and discoverability of other channels. Also, I have just discovered your channel and this is the second video I've seen of yours but you have already earned my subscribe :)

Unskippable ads are the exact reason I'd never consider watching a live Twitch stream for any reason other than to see a streamer play my Mario Maker levels. Even then, I'd only use Twitch for that because Twitch gives me a convenient way to find a list of people currently streaming that game.

I think one of the better things about twitch vs youtube in terms of streaming is that modding on twitch is a lot easier and there is a lot more functionality (e.g mod view/commands/bans/mods can start polls) and youtube presently doesn't have any of that (or at least not for the creators i mod for)

I think the automatic pre-roll ads on Twitch also contributes to culture of viewers paying money to their favorite streamers, because subscriptions by pass ads. People are more likely to pay a streamer directly if it's the only way to bypass ads on their content.

I do see signs of KZbin taking over Twitch, Streamers who used to be on Twitch who have tried out a live stream on KZbin getting way more viewers because this is more user friendly and better spilt for the streamer here.

Twitch pays less, bans men (but not women) for being sexy, bans gambling streams (but only the ones they dislike, not gacha shit), and refuses to get rid of many creeps and scammers. They both suck at handling user complaints though.

Wait! KZbin shows you only ONE skippable ad at the beginning of a video and doesn't show another one for a while? Why am I getting one or two ads at the beginning of every video for 2 or 3 times in a row?

So, KZbin will show you one SESSION of ads as a pre-roll to a video/stream, and then it should refrain from showing you another ad if you immediately switch away for a little bit. However, that one ad session can be skippable or not, and contain two or more ads in succession. Whether or not those ads are skippable (at least for videos), are left to the creator's discretion. Whereas on Twitch... if you blink, you get unskippable ads. My bad if I was unclear!

Small creator here, got the hell off twitch because of ethics reasons (Matt Gaetz) - and then the whole ting about you have to stream 8+ hours just to gain views - Had been victim of a hate raid/follow bot last year, and honestly twitch is a security risk on top of that.

Here is where I gotta counter and disagree a bit with what you are saying. ,Yes, it's not ALL gambling that is not banned, but it's some of the most unregulated sites in the game. Places like a stake, Robert, and others are based in curacao and take the next level when it comes to this. Poker has become heavily regulated and isn't an issue comparable to the slot sites we see around. But yea, Twitch has the second worst PR in the business.

Things Twitch is categorically better at than KZbin:- - Discovery - Viewer Engagement - Chat That's it. There's also the matter that I know a lot of people hate the fact that most KZbin accounts are just their name due to how Google accounts work so feel like they can't interact properly because they have no anonymity and that's a weird thing that Google really should have sorted out a long time ago. I think a lot of KZbinrs love this idea of Twitch dying or something but the fact of the matter is whilst getting discovered and getting new people engage with your content is always going to be difficult it is far far easier on Twitch as you're not a slave to an algorithm as much as you're just experimenting with different types of game and hours of gameplay and Twitch have actually got tons of tools now giving you suggestions for both what to stream and when to stream it. KZbin streaming sucks. The chats are weird and behind Twitch and even if they catch up on that score there's still the massive discovery issue. Worst case scenario is Amazon realise Twitch was never the cash cow they hoped it would be and sell it on to someone else, simple as that.
