I think a really interesting Podcast idea y’all could do would be “what could make Stax strong again?” And yall come up with custom designed Stax pieces and discuss why they could/would be strong in the meta. Same idea could be done for other types of decks - enchantress, control, ect. I think it could be a good way to examine the current weakness of some strategies and what people should look for in future cards the get released or ways to supplement the weakness of a strategy as it currently stands

What if you layered Hallar and Shalai (elf I think? That burns people out as we pump the team) w heliod (A+B) and ballista? Add in the Soul cauldron since you’re spreading counters around.. then you play Minsc n boo as a value engine that can has synergy w the counters and your type changers and maybe Taurean mauler at that point cause it sorta works w the deck? Oh, shit!, then run dockside Emeil too (Emeil gives counters which works w all these layers and can just pump the wide team or go off w Shalai?? I think you then load up on mana dorks and hate bears and the usual staples and you’ve got a flippin deck? Am I cooking or losing my grip?

Rhythm of the wild, concordant crossroads, ferver, burst of speed, Goro-Goro Disciple of Ryusei, Mass hysteria, Samut Voice of Dissent, and generator servant are all haste effects. Kodema of the west tree gives all your modified creatures trample, and if they deal damage, search for basic land and put into play tapped. Just a few cards to think

Sort:edhrec - 23:14 - sorts the cards in moxfield according to it's edhrec ranking, you can just paste it at the end

this is different than the edhrec search feature which I never use. it's just scryfall search and many don't know you can add sort as part of the search syntax itself

its really just the menacing boardstate that comes out of not exactly no where, but suddenly the 5 mana dorks turns into 6/6's and voja is hitting peeps for 2 hit commander lethal. as a long time samut voice of dissent enjoyer, i get the same fear factor when i flash out samut and hit with an ojer deepest growth or new ghalta/etali. also, with the prolific new insane while board protection cards like teferis, flawless, galadriels and that convoke phase one, getting a strong board state that grows itself without spending mana lets you hold up your protection making 1 board wipe non threatning and 2-3 still reasonable to get around if your getting mass card draw.

47:58 I was literally typing, “if we have infinite mana do we just ballista people?” If we play the devoted Druid combo and make infinite mana; ballista, Heliod, spike feeder/angel? Aurelias fury just fireball everyone and also turns off opponents counterspells? Idk if we can get to edh powerhouse; but I think it could beat K’rrik! 😂😂

This is one of those decks that casual people will call "cEDH" but is really too strong/annoying for casual. Its a strong commander in a cruiser and combat meta but is not strong enough in a tournament. It can get wins, most decks can, but its not going to be consistent enough to worry about regularly.

@hellproof2379 I've been playing without any restrictions on card selection and it has a real ceiling on its clock. I could see some improvement being possible but marginal I believe I'm at 95-99% at this point.

Brew Be'lakor, the Dark Master. At the very least he's Grixis with janky card draw. I was thinking Black Market Connections, a couple of big demons like Kaalia with breach and thoracle lines and recurring a demon over and over as back up. Almost fringe, but probably better than Voja. Vanilla Grixis is probably better than Voja.

Imagine this at a table with 2 blue farms and a Kinnan. A deck like this needs Null Rod effects and a strong naya combo or else it's just bad. I'd just play Shalai and Hallar instead

So. Here is my thought What about doing a goblin recruiter thing? Your commander can at least then crack the pile to draw the snoop?? Maybe then you just layer in the birthing pod kiki stuff. I mean. Yeah. It’s kinda just forcing it but that’s where you’re at. The only archetype this naturally lends itself to is a beat down plan. Stax the board out and give ‘em the ol Jet Mir beats In fact, you could prob then just sub Jetmir in its place and have at least a decent-ish deck once casuals get Voja banned w all the totally unwarranted complaints

Just fwiw, I believe the name of the card is Slavic, so the "j" in "Voja" should likely be pronounced like a "y" or "i", ending in something that is likely closer to "voy-uh" or "vooh-yuh". I'll let anyone more in the know correct me.

Aragorn would be kind of on theme if you wanted to do elves. Samut could be cool. Samut would let you have haste on all your dorks and Voja. Kind of a hidden commander type deck.

Voja isnt broken, its the dockside in the deck that breaks it in casual lol Dockside is mediocre in casual tables actually. Im enjoying myself making fun of people whining about Voja. Its decent but nowhere near broken.
