In this last episode of Season 1 of IsraelPalestine For Critical Thinkers, Richard Bass discusses the ways in which the Allied Powers remapped the Middle East and designated Palestine as the Jewish national home. We explain the revolt that ensued, and the British government’s proposed resolution. But with growing Nazi power, and the war afoot, circumstances only intensified in the region.

KEEP CALM and PLAY SOCCER IN YOUR PAJAMAS actually, in israel we are taught some of the things taught in the critical thinker series. However, we are taught only a narrow and white-washed type of history in school when in fact, non-white and even non-jewish people and citizens contributed a lot more to this country and land. For example, we learned about how the british denied the jews access to palestine during the holocaust, we learned about the "resistance" acts that followed right after (of course in israel we aren't taught that the resistance was actually a terror group. in my history class in highschool my teacher actually tried to justify the king david hotel bombing by the jewish resistance group, Etzel). So we learned about that, but we were definitely not taught about the british promising palestine to the arabs as well as to the jews or even about the faisal-weizmann agreement. Of course, the israeli government teaches only this specific narrative of history in order to justify the acts of israel today and to reinforce extreme right wing nationalism. So basically, israel sucks.

So far this is the best, most accurate, and unbiased video series on the subject that I have ever seen. They do omit a lot of history in the region, including the massacres committed by the arab citizens in the 1920s and 1930s and the formation of the defense forces that Jews were forced to create. It also ignores the expulsion of Jews from the newly created Arab states and the ban on Jews from entering Holy sites during the British mandate.

Jay N What I like best is the original map of the Palestinian mandate is not altered to show only west of the Jordan River, it shows the entire mandate. This is omitted from ALL of the propaganda videos. They show Palestine as only modern day Israel and say use the population distribution of Israel and Jordan combined to say there are more arabs there.

This talk includes a serious historical error. Between 3:25 and 4:45 the presenter describes the Arab Revolt and what is not named but was the British government's 1939 White Paper. It presents that as including the partition as shown on the screen. But the partition proposal came in the Peel Commission report of 1937. The Arab Revolt which began in 1936 was suspended during the Peel Commission's work; it restarted (more violently) after the report was published. It is also wrong to say that the report was accepted by no one. The Jewish Agency representing the Jewish community in Palestine accepted the Peel report; the Arabs did not. The partition recommended by Peel was in fact dropped as a proposal by the issue of the 1939 White Paper. Partition reappeared as a proposal in internal British government discussions in 1943-44, was again dropped, but was recommended by UNSCOP in 1947 and passed as a decision by the United Nations on 30 November 1947.

Mariam N What about Israel??? what is confusing you???? In 1947 the UN security council voted on partitioning what remained of the mandatedland between the Arab and the Jewish residents therein. The Jews accepted the partitioning resolution and declared an independent state of Israel. The Arabs refused and opted for a declaration of war on the new state with the intention of destroying it completely. A war ensued in 1948-1949. Israel won and the rest is documented history. What is confusing you????

former ottoman territories should not be called turkish because they were administrated by turks but overseen by local powers, another note is nationalistic arabs were a minority before ww1 and local revolts were rarer among arabs than other populations in the empire, so the phrase "freedom from turkish rule" does not apply cleanly when you consider the turks had established railways, education systems, and economic infrastructure

The problem is people interested on this kind of topics dont research in deep the history ; Israel have been existed since 1150 BCE, it was divided in 2 kingdoms: Israel & Judah. If you do the maths is likely 4000 ys of existence even before Jesus born, and please remember he was jewish also. The question is many people count the history of the Palestinians only from 1940, before that it have been jewish land until today. The ironic side is that Palestine live on denial and they will end up like that.

There is one important mistake in this film: it sates, that Palestine west of the river Jordan was destined as the "home for the jews" by the Mandate and the Balfour Declaration. This national home was forseen to be given within the area west of the river, not the whole area. With this mistake the film wants to claim, that the Westbank and East Jerusalem is indeed part of the internationally "recognized" Israel, which is not true, as ALL countries in the world recognize the Westbank to be Arab land.

*---------------------------------------* *THE FACTS AND HISTORY* *---------------------------------------* There has never been such a country called Palestine. Israel was RE-formed on land previously ruled by the Ottoman empire, similarly to other countries in the region such as Lebanon, Iraq and others. There is no such thing as "Palestinian people". It's worth noting that newspapers such as the 'Palestine post' were Jewish newspapers (this one for example turned into the 'Jerusalem post'). This is also true about other official "Palestine" related stuff from the time before Israel was RE-formed. If you happened to say "Palestinian" before the RE-formation of Israel, you were actually referring to the Hebrews living in the land, not the Arabs. Take a look at this flag book from 1939 (3rd row on the right): imgur.com/a/4hlH2 The term "Palestine" was later discarded, as it should have been, because the original name for the land - Israel, has been restored (it's simple: Israel is not Palestine, just like Jerusalem is not Aelia-Capitolina, and Schem is not Nablus). It is only in the mid 1960's that the Arabs hijacked the term, and its widespread usage only took off after the 1967 Arab-Israeli war. the Arabs used this terminology as a political propaganda tool to de-legitimize Israel, after they failed to steal the Hebrew homeland by force with the Arab armies, by invading and attempting to conquer the land. Ironically, the term "Palestinian" originate from the term 'Pleshet' to describe INVADERS by the Hebrews. Those who willingly identify as "Palestinians" are declaring themselves to be invaders/colonizers in Hebrew land. It's important to note that this propaganda tool was supported by the Communists/Soviets. On the other hand, just a few decades before that, the Arab "Palestinians" were hand in hand with the Nazis. They have aided them under the leadership of the mufti Amin Al Husseini - who is often regarded 'founding father' of the Arab "Palestinians". Mufti Amin Al Husseini became an SS general, but he had anti-jewish genocidal ideology long before the Nazis rose the power. He has incited and caused violence and terror against the Jewish people in their homeland since the early 1920's (for example: causing the 1929 Hebron massacre). Yasser Arafat, the first official "Palestinian" leader was an Arab from Egypt, who was born and raised in Egypt and lived there till the 1950's - some "Palestinian" eh? Arab "Palestinians" are nothing more than bands of foreign Arab invaders and illegal immigrants from all over the Arab and Islamic world (some of them even originating from places that are not part of the middle-east, such as Bosnia). Most of them came as recent as the 19th and 20th centuries. As for those who were before that - most of those were Arab Bedouins who are Arab nomadic tribes who did not permanently settle in places, and thus did not stay for prolonged periods of time. Many Arabs even came to Gaza, Judea and Samaria from Egypt and Jordan while these areas were under Egyptian and Jordanian occupation on the periods between 1948 to 1967. Here are some very informative and interesting quotes directly Arab "Palestinian" leaders: "There is no such country as Palestine. 'Palestine' is a term the Zionists invented. There is no Palestine in the bible ...Palestine is ALIEN to us" - Arab "Palestinian" leader Awni Abdul-Hadi, Peel Commission, 1937. "The Palestinian people does not exist. The creation of a Palestinian state is only a means for continuing our struggle against the state of Israel for our Arab unity. In reality today there is no difference between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese. Only for political and tactical reasons do we speak today about the existence of a Palestinian people, since Arab national interests demand that we posit the existence of a distinct "Palestinian people" to oppose Zionism. Yes, the existence of a separate Palestinian identity exists only for tactical reasons, Jordan, which is a sovereign state with defined borders, cannot raise claims to Haifa and Jaffa, while as a Palestinian, I can undoubtedly demand Haifa, Jaffa, Beer-Sheva and Jerusalem. However, the moment we reclaim our right to all of Palestine, we will not wait even a minute to unite Palestine and Jordan." - Arab "Palestinian" leader & PLO member Zuheir Mohsen, 1977. "We all have Arab roots, and every Palestinian in Gaza and throughout Palestine can prove his Arab roots - whether from Saudi Arabia, Yemen or anywhere else." "... Half the Palestinians are (Arab) Egyptians and the other half are (Arab) Saudis" - Arab "Palestinian" Hamas minister Fathi Hammad, 2012. Here are some of the most common family names among the "Palestinians": "Masri" = from Egypt-Hamas member of Parliament, Mushir al-Masri (the word "masri" littelery means "the egyptian" in arabic !). "Khamis"= Bahrain "Salem Hanna Khamis" "al-Faruqi"= Mosul, Iraq "Al-Araj" = Morocco, a member of the Saadi Dynasty "Hussein al-Araj" "Al Lubnani" = the Lebanese "Al-Mughrabi" = the Moroccan (Maghreb" - meaning "West" in Arabic, and usually referring to North Africa or specifically to Morocco) "Al-Djazair" = the Algerian "Al-Yamani" = the Yemeni "Issam Al Yamani" "Al-Afghani" = the Afghan "Al-Hindi" = the Indian "Amin al-Hindi" "Iraqi" = from Iraq. "Halabi" = from Aleppo, Syria "Al-Baghdadi" = from Baghdad Iraq. "Tarabulsi"= Tarabulus-Tripoli, Lebanon. "Hourani" = Houran Syria. "Al-Husayni" = Saudi Arabia. "Saudi" = Saudi Arabia. "Metzarwah"= Egypt. "Barda---wil" = "Salah Bardawil" HAMAS legislator in Gaza; Egypt, Bardawil Lake area. "Nashashibi" = Syria. "Bushnak" = Bosnia "Zoabi"= from Iraq: "Haneen Zoabi". "Turki" = Turkey "Daud Turki" "Al-Kurd" = Kurdistan. "Haddadins" = YEMEN descended from Ghassanid Christian Arabs. "Arab Abu-Kishk" = Egypt.(Bedouins) "Arab Al Shakirat" = Egypt (Bedouins) "Arab Al Zabidat" = Egypt (Bedouins) "Arab Al Aramsha" = Egypt (Bedouins) "Abu Sitta" = In Arabic' Abu means father and sitta means six. Translated it actually means father of six. (The Abu Sitta family primarily received this name because around the year 1700, a well known knight of the large Al-Tarabeen tribe always had six slaves (i.e. fedawyah, bodyguards), 3 on each side, with him. They were with him wherever he went, day or night. Hence the name "ABU SITTA." = Egypt (Bedouins) "Salman Abu Sitta ".) Even Yasser Arafat, the most famous "Palestinian" and leader of the P.L.O terrorist organization, was not native to Judea. He called himself a "Palestinian refugee" but spoke Arabic with an Egyptian accent. He was born in 1929 Cairo, Egypt. He served in the Egyptian army, studied in the University of Cairo, and lived in Cairo until 1956! His full name was Mohammed Abdel Rahman Abdel Raouf Arafat al-Qudwa al-Husseini. "Al-Qudwa" tribe origin? Yasser Arafat also proudly stated in his authorized biography that, "If there is any such thing as a Palestinian people, it is I, Yasser Arafat, who created them." Here is some genetic data for Arab "Palestinian": According to a 2010 study by Behar et al. titled "The genome-wide structure of the Jewish people", Palestinians tested clustered genetically close to Bedouins, Jordanians and Saudi Arabians which was described as "consistent with a common origin in the Arabian Peninsula". A study found that the Palestinians, have what appears to be Female-Mediated gene flow in the form of Maternal DNA Haplogroups from Sub-Saharan Africa. Palestinian individuals tested, carried maternal haplogroups that originated in Sub-Saharan Africa. The most likely explanation for the presence of predominantly female lineages of African origin in these areas is that they may trace back to women brought from Africa as part of the Arab slave trade, assimilated into the areas under Arab rule. In a genetic study of Y-chromosomal STRs in two populations from Israel and the Palestinian Authority Area: Christian and Muslim Palestinians showed genetic differences. A 2013 study of Haber and et al. found that "The predominantly Muslim populations of Syrians, Palestinians and Jordanians cluster on branches with other Muslim populations as distant as Morocco and Yemen." The authors explained that "religious affiliation had a strong impact on the genomes of the Levantines. In particular, conversion of the region's populations to Islam appears to have introduced major rearrangements in populations' relations through admixture with culturally similar but geographically remote populations leading to genetic similarities between remarkably distant populations." The authors also reconstructed the genetic structure of pre-Islamic Levant and found that "it was more genetically similar to Europeans than to (nowadays) Middle Easterners". *HIGHLY RECOMMENDED VIDEOS TO WATCH:* kzbin.info/www/bejne/f3vKmK1ofa6eiZY kzbin.info/www/bejne/iX-bZGuwqpucn9E kzbin.info/www/bejne/q2mofZSmZ9qboaM Let us now see what the Quran itself says: And thereafter We (Allah) said to the Children of Israel: 'Dwell securely in the Promised Land. And when the last warning will come to pass, we will gather you together in a mingled crowd." [Qur'an 17 : 104] "O my people (the Hebrews)! Enter the Holy Land, which God has assigned unto you", [Qur'an: 5 : 21] "We (Allah) settled the Israelites in a blessed land and provided them with good things". [Qur'an: 10 : 93] "it was Our (Allah's) will to favor those who were oppressed (the Hebrews) and to make them leaders of man, to bestow on them a noble heritage and to give them power in the land (of Israel)". [Qur'an: 28 : 5-6] "We (Allah) gave the persecuted people (the Hebrews) dominion over the eastern and western lands which We had blessed (the east and west banks of the Jordan River). Thus your Lord's gracious word was fulfilled for the Israelites, because they had endured with fortitude [Qur'an: 7 : 137] It's funny how so many Muslims go against Allah and the Quran when it suits them.

Why do u hate me? Why do u exist to kill me? Why do u write paragraphs to prove that I have no descent? Did I do something that bad to u? There are a lot of people like u but people like u make me regret ever being born Palestinian, I am ashamed of telling people my nationality, my grandparents had to flee Palestine to Jordan only later to emigrate to Canada. This is why I change my identity because of u.... So my question is do u hate me for existing?

[Qur’ān. Jumma'at 62:6] Say: "O ye that stand on Judaism! If ye think that you are beloved to Allah, above the rest, then express your desire for Death, if ye are truthful!". [prophets 21:105] "And We have already written in the book [of Psalms] after the [previous] mention that the land is inherited by My righteous servants."

@@basilatari5719 Don't listen to this propagandist. There was a territory called palestine it's just that countries didn't exist back then. This person is being disingenuous by claiming it didn't exist as a country. Of course it didn't because countries didn't exist really back then especially in the middle east. But the name palestine didn't come out of thin air. It was very much real.

Tactfully biased. Completely omitted the history of people on the land and objective perspective that complete third parties (British and Jews) who had no ties to the land took over it by arbitrary mandate and force. It also omitted the Plan D massacre that took place during the mandate.

I’m pro-Palestine (the civilians not the governments don’t @ me this is for a point) and this is the best least biased and most in-depth thing I’ve found on the subject that includes historical and religious context. Consistent inclusion of both sides basic perspective is rare elsewhere.

@@i20010 how is that relavant to my crutisism of the video's bias? Do you measure objectivity based on how others perform? That sounds a lot like relative measure which is exactly the opposite of my point.

These videos are strange, it completely ignore that the land has been for the Palestinians and others living in it for thousands of years, it’s not like they came from the moon or from Saudi Arabia. The have lived there for thousands of years, what’s happened to the Jews is bad but it doesn’t justify giving them a land that’s is someone’s else even if the Jews where there 2 thousand years ago

There were no Palestinians in the land. The people were Ottoman subjects in Ottoman lands. There was nothing calied Palestine by the Ottomans. There was a population of between 250,000 and 350,000 in that entire area for over 1000 years. There was no Palestinians, there were bedouins and fellahins (tenant farmers), not land owners. The people were under tribal and clan law, with the elders being the people who made decisions for the families. They were not in the government, they were not sovereign. Most of those calling themselves as "Palestinians" were laborers that arrived in the 1900s as farmers or builders. The British Census of 1922 showed that the Arab inhabitants spoke over 30 different languages. They were Muslims that were invited by the Ottomans from the refugees of the Austro-Hungarian colonization of Bosnia-Herzegovina, the Crimean war, the Balkan wars, the Turkish war of Independence and World War I. Then in the early 1900s, the British military needed support personnel, the local Arabs came from Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Iran etc for jobs as support forvthe British, cooks, farmers, laundry, building trades etc. Whole families worked for the British in Egypt, Palestine, and other Levantine areas.

The Arabs invaded the Holy Land in the 7th century. The Rashidun Caliphate put Jerusalem under siege from 636. Where do you get your 'thousands of years' from? 20% of Israeli citizens TODAY are Arab Muslims who have equal rights under the law with Jews. The Holy Land is the ancestral homeland of the indigenous Jewish people, and Jerusalem is their undivided and ancestral capital. Get used to it...🙏

It was not Europeans. The entire League of Nations voted on the Mandates that became Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Jordan, and Israel. The vote for reconstituting the Jewish state was unanimous in 1922, at San Remo.

The Allied Powers WON the war in 1918. The losers of a war of aggression did not have the right to dictate what happens after their demise. Do you think the Germans and Ottoman Turks would have been more benevolent if they'd won?
