Next time cut the ends of the tread with a couple degree back bevel cut. ie the top surface of the tread is at the correct length but the bottom surface is a 1/16 to 1/8" shorter. Makes it a lot easier to drop the tread into place on the stairs without scraping up the rake boards.

What I have found when cutting something to an exact size, constrained on two sides as your stairs, is that item has to be slid in as flat as possible, not at a slight tilt as is our natural intention. Even this technique has limitations, thus, cutting a smidgeon short works for me, and is mostly invisible.

I'm afraid those stairs might squeak my friend. Hopefully they don't but I've built many sets of oak stairs in high end homes and I always leave just a tiny hair of a gap on the ends of the tread to prevent squeaking. You don't even really need a visible gap, you just want them to drop into place without having to force them in. Also a slight bevel on the cuts makes for easier and better looking fit. Those stair jigs are great tools aren't they? I made one out of some oak and carriage bolts and wing nuts. If you ever build any more stairs, theres a great book called the "Coffman Stair Guide". I pretty much taught myself how to build them by referencing that book which stayed in my tool box. I've been enjoying your vids lately. Thanks for making good content!

Oh yeah, the right tool for the right job is always a given. Not that long ago, i was changing my brake pads on my car, you know nothing to write home about except the last person who had touched my wheels seemingly got an impact gun and hold the trigger till the gun itself wouldnt move anymore. I had to get a lorry breaker bar to take off the nuts and this is a bloody ford focus. I was super worried about my threads but after a very thorough inspection they didnt appear to be stretched. I was damn sure to tighten them up to specification and tested them the next day then the next week then the next month

it's a video from another dimension. i have no idea what he is talking about, the scene keeps changing. One moment he is in the snow then he is talking about stairs and goes to a room like Arsenal's dressing room or something and then the shipments arrive. He fucks up the wall for basically nothing. He puts some wood on top of another. Yet I couldn't stop watching it. There is something deeper here. Sheer enthusiasm. I bet he has all sorts of equipments for shooting the videos and editing. He is a veteran of life.

Pro tip: when cutting the edges of the stair tread, if you also bevel the saw by 2-3 deg it will be a much easier fit, also much easier to "tweak" in place with a block plane because all you have to shave off is the top edge to make it fit.

Angle the back cut so that at the front of the tread there is no back cut. You'll see the back cut otherwise. Another way - a little more time consuming - is to cut a blind rabbit on the underside of each end. A shallow ½" rabbit will do the trick.
