Seeing D-16's descent and his fallout with Orion Pax gave me a palpable sense of dread, even though I knew from the beginning where he'd end up. Not to mention the choreography was amazing. It was executed so well, I'm glad I actually went to a theater for the first time in years for this.

Lifelong, hardcore Transformers fan here. My fiancee and I went to an early fan screening two days prior to its actual release. We both loved it so much, even my fiancee, who’s prone to falling asleep to anything we go see in theaters, was awake and invested in the movie the whole time. This kid Zach caught a "Ladybug" in the locker room in 6th gr and named it "Optimus Prime." Anyway in 4th gr I was talking to this other dude Robby about who we thought was the 1st person in our school that would smoke cigarettes. We both said Zach. I even read somewhere that Chris Hemsworth spent time with Peter Cullen to get the voice right, and it shows in the movie. As the movie progresses and Orion evolves from Orion Pax to Optimus Prime, his voice becomes more recognizably Optimus-ish.

I read this over and Zach / Robby are some generic ahh American names, but all of this is true. I tried reading it from an untrustful POV and it seems like I added too many specific details and it seemed fake. Then I thought people will think I said THAT to throw them off. But what if i said THAT to throw them off? It was an endless cycle of panic and I wish I didn't get so high b4 typing this bc I'm uncomfortable. I wish I could zap y'all in to my brain so you know I mean what I say, bc it's stressful when truth comes down to various perceptions and trust levels of strangers. Can confirm. I took my son to this thinking that he would love it and I was blown away on how good and fun it was. Lots of cool fan service, they didn't undercut the serious moments, and I thought they stayed true to the TF lore, while expanding on it in cool meaningful ways. I’m not even a massive Transformers guy but this movie felt like not only a good jumping off point for any further Transformers movies but it also felt like a genuine passion project with the references to G1 and the like. I had the honor of doing my first interview/junket with the director of Transformers One, Josh Cooley, and it was clear that everyone involved was passionate about the project. They were all true Transformers fans, and the movie turned out amazing. The atmosphere at the Sydney premiere was truly something special.

​@@leithaziz2716 I bought my first Transformers graphic novel last year, up to four now, and found out Ratbat used to be a corrupt Senator before getting turned into basically a pet of Soundwave's. Ratbat used to make sure no social assistance went towards Cybertron's poor and lower levels to ensure poverty remained high. This increased poverty resulted in higher civil strife and violence in the civilian population at the lower levels of Cybertron's greatest cities. As a result, the security companies and police forces had to keep buying increasing numbers of arms and munitions from the weapons manufacturers that Ratbat had stock in. I read that storyline and I was like, holy shit, this describes how America has been collapsing for the past few decades since Reagan.

As someone who has lived and breathed Transformers since watching 07 movie at barely 2 years old, listening to Charlie talk about one of my favorite things ever is really nice. And hearing him give my movie of the year the praise it deserves is even better. It's a shame the movies advertising has really done it dirty, but here's to hoping that the more people speak out about how good it is, the more it can prosper. The ulterior motive hidden in my original comment that I didn't make clear is that people nowadays will judge a film prematurely, aside from the marketing, based on if they think it is "woke" or not just by the cast or the protagonist. And they'll come up with bad excuses like "no one asked for this" or "they're pushing an agenda" based off zero analysis and they just want to see a studio fail for no reason at all. But then when shows that nobody asked for like The Penguin or a show with an agenda like The Boys comes out, it has raving reviews and everyone loves it. So I think projects are very unfairly targeted nowadays, having people declare the project as bad without having seen the final product yet.
