@jasonharrison25
@jasonharrison25 Жыл бұрын
@@Remas20007 it's surprising how many people are unaware of the engine and it sounds. I was once trying to teach someone to drive a manual transmission and she would often forget to engage the clutch. She would press on the throttle until the engine would be screaming at 5k+ rpms and she would hold it there asking why car isn't moving. All well sitting at full throttle. I'd kindly ask her to please let off the throttle so I can better hear her and she can hear me explain again what to do. She repeatedly did this oblivious to the racing engine. Or she did the opposite when she was coming to a stop and pressed in the clutch but didn't ease off the accelerator. The RPMs would go way up as she wondered what she is doing wrong. It's not uncommon for someone who has no inkling of the mechanics of a vehicle to understand what they are doing wrong or having trouble learning to properly operate it. When they finally get the point of passing the driving test they are generally very poor drivers and even worse when it comes to adverse conditions or accident avoidance. Things like black ice or hydroplaning, they have no idea how to handle it even if they can explain the process.

@mr.9thdoctor615

Glass is actually quite a hard material. Problem is its internal structure, especially with sheet glass. When it lands on the edges, the internal structure can withstand impact quite well, as proven by the video. Only when the impact comes from the sides, the it shatters. Doesn't matter if there was a pavement slab. It would have shattered on the grass as well. Especially since it hit the ground with varying force across its surface. The parts near the bottom edge had only a small distance to go to hit the ground, since the edge was already on the grass. The opposite end swung down much harder. That caused stress across the surface, ergo the shattering. And this assumes a perfectly flat ground surface. Every little bump in the ground that stood a bit higher than the surrounding area would focus the impact force in a smaller point and that way increase the chance of breaking the glass. Even security glass can be shattered quite easily by using a pointy object like a pick.
@1badombre82
@1badombre82 Жыл бұрын
@@mr.9thdoctor615yes. It would have stood a better chance if it had been Pyrex or borosilicate but even then any high point that it made first contact with that was stone or cement would have probably resulted the same since it was a flat sheet. Had it been concaved that would have greatly reduced the chance of shattering and would have given it a better chance of rolling across the stone or cement rather than all of its momentum being directed onto that 1 point of impact. Theoretically had the glass been perfectly flat and the hard surface it was landing on also been perfectly flat too it may have survived since the air cushion that would occur the moment before face to face impact would have slowed it. But then it would not have survived the initial hit on its edge only the following tilt face impact
@Spearca
@Spearca 11 ай бұрын
@@mr.9thdoctor615The height of the pane's top edge, after the bottom was in the ground, is a survivable distance for glass to fall on grass. As long as the unevenness it lands on _is_ all resilient grass, no paving stone or other incompressible object.

Omg, the foot AND head shot! I had a friend that had a backyard trampoline sitting up on it's side for some reason, it fell on my foot. I swear...that pain went way above childbirth pain! I thought my foot was crushed. I couldn't breathe, I couldn't speak. I saw colors. They took me to the ER. Luckily there was no break in the bones! But it turned black as a bad banana by the end of the week! Afterthought: We were glad that happened to me cuz if that would've fallen on any of her or my kids...things could've been bad.

Some good science to watch here. If you notice, the man was hit with the pole in left foot first but the left foot converted pole energy in to Kinetic energy by swinging itself. The right foot however absorbed all the force as it couldn’t swing(being on the ground) and hence was hurt more than left foot.
