The trait is really interesting. I normally run Cold-Hearted which (amongst other things) debuffs enemies, stacking up to -50 DRR. But it stacks in increments of -10, with each stack from the first shot of a weapon firing cycle. So if you're using FAW, building the stacks up takes a few seconds. This new trait though gives you an immediate approximately -30 DRR; you don't have to stack it. Granted cold-hearted also slows the affected ships and drains them of power, but there probably are some circumstances where the immediate debuff is more useful than the stacking debuff. Have to work with it a bit to see. It also has the benefit of not having to slot A2B or a dedicated pilot ability to proc it.

Thanks for a solid review :) As per Wingman mechanic - it came with newest batch of mission's from Gamma quadrant arc and if I recall correctly it was present only on Jem'Hadar Vanguards vessels.

Slight clarification: The experimental weapon's haste and the trait's debuff rely on your current max speed based on engine and engine power, not your current actual speed, so that's why you had over 70% haste and -24 DR debuff while standing still, and they didn't change when you moved. And it also explains why it changed when you used evasive maneuvers and other speed buffs. Those things increased your MAX speed. So you could actually be stationary and still enjoy the benefits of these buffs, just so long as your engine power remains high and you use speed skills. Try messing with the engine power slider and watch it change.

Nice overview of the ship. The console seems handy enough with the passive boosts even though I mainly use phasers. The overall appearance of the ship looks sleek, well-suited for a fast attack craft.

Not sure if you noticed, but I think the pets from the console clicky do follow the Wingman commands... which is pretty cool! Also means, although they don't follow you around - you can bring them to you and set them off doing damage in front of you - alongside your wingman.

When it comes to consoles, they tend to either make a console for DPS chasers or for people who just want cool fun things. This console definitely feels tailored to the latter. As someone who falls under the casual player this summon ships console sounds awesome.

Set up a custom clutch control for maneuvers. I use a side mouse button (hold mouse button, and press desired WASD for the boost). Then you can disable the double tap feature. You could use shift instead for the clutch if desired (I use shift and control for a clutch input for firing torps/mines with spacebar.

Say, what KIND of damage are the Wingmen dealing? 🤔 During the "POLARON Strafing Run", Alpha seemed to fire green Disruptor shots, and Beta spewed orange Phaser shots. And then, against the second group, Beta seems to use an Antiproton beam. These differing weapon visuals are confusing. 🤨 It feels like they tried to make the wingmen a Fed and a KDF ship, but couldn't get that working in time. 😅

on pilot ships, if you click the 1,2,3, icon in the corner of the UI, you can disable the double-tap for maneuvers and make it manual. Although for some reason it keeps turning itself back on.

I haven't flown a full pilot ship yet but I noticed the "double tap to dodge" option appears under space controls yesterday, not just ground. Maybe that refers to pilot maneuvers and changing it there might make it stay off vs the HUD element being temporary.

You can set keybindings for pilot maneuvers, so you dont have to double tap - because you are right, you will trigger it when you dont want to. I have my pilot maneuvers set to Shift+A (s,w,d). You can disable double tap in the settings. Pilot ships are a lot of fun, and there is no need to 'fly all over the place'.

About your question about the wingman mechanic, if the ship has Vanguard in the name, they get the Vanguard Wingman mechanic, because they are part of Odo's fleet. The one featured in the Jem'Hadar tutorial\story. The older Jem'Hadar ships without the Vanguard moniker don't get the Vanguard Wingman because they are not part of that fleet. Also because they were released prior to the Wingman mechanic.

IF you are used to pilot maneuvers it's very nice to have if you need to keep an enemy ship in front of you! The Wingman mechanic is on Vangard vessels for JH, so it being on this one is very nice considering it's not a true Vangard ship. I'm not sure if the Hanger Pet consoles effect the wingmen or not or if it's even worth the slot. I just play as if they aren't even there and consider them distractions for enemy ships. If they pull some aggro it's fine with me. I'm used to the pilot/wingman set up due to my Legendary Dominion Attack Ship. Can you confirm if Polaron weapons get the extra proc other JH ships get? You can only see it in space, if you are on the ground the proc isn't there when you mouse over the weapons. The other thing about polaron is you can have a quad cannon!!!!

It's the Vanguard Dominion ships that get the wingmates. I don't think there's many Dominion ships that don't have it.

Not a fan of the dominion bug shape they adopted, but my dps IS higher using this ship, I like the kit...I have the Ba'ul on it as well, Aegis engines and deflector adds a nice touch to the dark hull

what - bugs - me the most is that in the deflector section it actually has two torp launchers, while still having the defiant tube launchers left/righ --- makes no sense, it should have had the defiant like front deflector.

The console should be better on carrier builds as it should be buffed by the pet advanced consoles. The Soliton EW also increases firing speed based on your engine power, not your throttle or how fast you're moving.

I only have one gripe. On the bigger Jem ships your wingmen arent obnoxious. When they are the same size as your ship the mechanics get wonky. Just wish I could make them go away and make it a solo ship....

Nuance questions: Does this Trait work just like SAD where you only need a BOFF to equip an ability or do you need a weapon to fire under said ability, because that/those particular weapons are applying the debuff? Is that/those particular weapon(s) soley receiving the benefit, or does everything receive the benefit of the debuff, once the Trait has been applied?

Nice overview. Do you know if isomags boost the wingmen? Would I have to use the pet isomags? Or is it better to use spire polaron locator consoles to buff polaron damage on both yourself and the wingmen?

If at all, wingmen should only be buffed by anything that affects pets or blanket +all damage consoles. Like the Flagship Tactical Computer. Besides, the Rex can only take 4 isomags, you're better off using Spire locator and exploiter consoles wit it.

@@felinetrashbag8276 I don't think so. All consoles which boost a particular damage type only affect equipped weapons. Wingmen are classified as neither weapons nor pets if i remember correctly. They're an entirely separate mechanic. So they aren't boosted by any consoles in the game, except those who give a blanket CAT2 +all damage. But i might ne wrong here.

So if this is the case, am I to assume wingmen are a great mechanic in the early game to quickly level characters up, but are almost useless in late game because their damage won't scale and they'll be nearly irrelevant against much more powerful enemies? @@user-op2ho7xx2g Pretty much. They're still plenty effective in advanced content, but much less so in elite. And in regular content they're extremely powerful. Their damage DOES scale somewhat, but not as much as other damage sources. That said, everything with Cat2 +all bonus damage also affects wingmen.

In this case, it is there for the two-piece set bonus with the Lorca consul, which gives you a huge, stacking critical severity boost. By having it in the back and an extra canon in the front, you get more damage output. Basically, that extra canon does more damage by itself in the torpedo would upfront.

It seems like the Trait calculates off of "Max Speed", and not "Current Speed". Hm. 🤔

The trait calculates from the "Flight Speed" value on the ship stats tab. That stat specifically says it "Determines your speed at the maximum throttle setting. Engine Power increases your maximum speed. Full Impulse greatly increases this value." As you throttle through various speed settings, the stat doesn't change, so it looks to be working as intended.

Nothing personal against anyone who likes STO but its GTA online but with a star trek skin put on it. The whole game is designed to take your money to keep leveling up and get the cool ships. VS paying the basic costs and avoiding the MTX’s much as possible. Which is what STO wants. You grind forever to get it or just give them 5.00 dollars. I unfortunately spend on GTA online but am very limited by that I won’t spend untold amounts of money for all the really cool and neat but stupid expensive missions and vehicles. Its a money trap…Now if that your thing cool, you do you boo boo but I don’t have infinite money to throw at MTX’s.
