Geez, I’m no expert either on the retainer wall, but you know it looks awesome. Unless you’re an expert on this type of wall, one won’t notice any imperfections at all. It’s doing its job, that’s the important part and personally I love it. I think it looks just fine. Good job Trent. Also, I have to say that wrap around deck is amazing. What a difference on the front of the house now. It really has improved the looks of it, and how nice to have that covered deck guys. Love it. Great planning and job everyone!

You laugh about Leo working with his dad on the truck, but at age 2 my dad gave my brother a car to play with. My brother learned so many things about mechanics. It kept this inquisitive chilled intertwined for hours. Our mother raised 5 kids from a wheelchair due to polio that was a great help for him.

My Mom raised 4 of us with polio, she was on crutches at first and then a wheelchair, our Moms definitely hero’s. My Dad let my brothers follow him around and they all learned how to,work on cars. Leo,is adorable working with DaDa in the heavy equipment and Billy just so adorable ❤❤❤❤

Hi guys, an idea to make the retaining wall more attractive, would be to stuff the gaps with soil & plant in it. Ferns would grown in the shady parts & herbs & alpines in the sunny spots. It could look really natural & pretty. Love you guys x

Allie, Trent’s retaining wall is perfect to plant herbs or flowers in the spaces between the rocks. Imagine how beautiful it would look. Bulbs would be perfect as they overwinter then sprinkle annuals around them.

With regard to the retaining wall. fill the holes you still have between the big stones with stones the size that fit the holes to strengthen the wall. You have many large holes which bring instability to the wall. Filling them would make the wall very safe, stable and really pretty.

You have accomplished so much in a relatively short time frame with a lot of other life stuff going on in the daily background. It is inspiring to witness. Over time you could plant low growing plants like rockcress into your retaining wall and they will eventually fill in the holes between the rocks and create a lovely flowering wall.

Creeping ground cover plant will make that rock wall beautiful. Creeping flox has many colors. Red sedum, and variegated leaf ground covers would look amazing in a couple of years. No mowing. No weedeating. And no maintenance once you plant them. It would be a great job with the boys. Billy doodling and Leo helping.

Once you're done with the earth moving, you can get to spreading a bunch of seed and plant native shrubs - and decorative ones too. That will help reduce any erosion and also help prevent a bunch of invasive plants from moving.

Oh gosh Trent you did a great job moving all of that dirt and then those huge stones to make that retaining wall, you might not think it is that great looking but it is okay just huge stones are sometimes hard to place perfectly, but moving some more soil to make it more even and great looking before winter can dump a ton of snow everywhere. So wonderful that Leka and Frank take great care of sweet Billy, he is so cute and smiles when he seems happy about something. I am so excited to see more work being done on that great new front deck, that will be so great this winter.
