He's NOT a trumpet player! He is a "trumpeter" & as per custom within the mounted services required to ride a grey/white horse. And military trumpeters do not "play" anything on their instruments. They "sound" calls.

Long Guard indicating the Sovereign is in residence . 1 Officer 1 Corporal Major who carries the Regimental Colours 1Trumpeter on the grey . 2 NCO's - Corporal of Horse , Lance Corporal of Horse 10 Troopers . A Short Guard is 2 NCO's 10 Troopers . Returning to Hyde Park Barracks this way as the Parade ground is closed .

I don't know how many white horses they have, but I have never seen one of those poor horses that wasn't really skittish. They all seem to have a problem with the tassel dangling down..

@@elainebrown5586 The farrier of the Blues and Royals looks exactly like every tropper does: Blue tunic, red plume. The farrier of the life guards is very special because he is the only one with a black plume AND he is also wearing a blue tunic, like the Blues the Royals. So it's not rly correct to say farriers wear black plumes in general.
