A few years back I got a very good tip from my therapist to help me make a decision: When you are alone and nobody disturbs you, take two chairs and place them right next to each other. One chair is going to represent you in 6 months when you have made the decision that you will stay in Canada and with your ex and the other chair represents you in 6 months when you have made the decision to go back to Italy. Sit in each chair for as long as you need to to just imagine your life and notice the feelings it gives you. This helped me so much, I hope it helps you too :)

i wanted to really thank you because your advice was super helpful. i am struggling with school right now. long story short, i started art school because i really enjoy painting and everyone was always telling me how talented i was. i also really like travelling but i gave up on the idea of studying tourism. i started art school a couple of weeks ago and i hate it. i like painting as a hobby but the pressure of school is ruining it for me. so now i am split between continuing art school in hope that it gets better or drop out and study tourism instead. your advice really helped, i imagined me in 6 months in either situation and i think i now what is best for me now.

Great advice! Another therapist and a chair tip I heard was to sit in one chair and imagine on the other chair your (potentially abusive) "bad" family member/person you who hurt you and giving it to them or just to say anything you'd ever wanted to get off your chest. The therapist said it was important always to do that with an empty chair because having the real person sit there would probably just lead to more trauma and fighting 😅 makes sense, unfortunately.

I moved out to OR to be with my sister and aging parents as they begin making some life changes. It's been really hard. My parents are, unexpectedly, much more independent than I imagined, I've gotten a lot of injuries & illnesses, my mental health is really pretty bad--deep depression. I've been here a year, away from my bf and everything I love in KY. Now it seems with the turn of the seasons I'm beginning to imagine whole new life paths for myself once/if I get back. The struggle is real but the goal is 100!

Any decision you make regarding your relationships is never going to ruin your life and leave you unrecoverable. You have the strength and power to overcome anything! When my ex and I broke up I had the same thought as you, “I’ll never have the same close bond that I did with him with another person.” We ended up getting back together but it wasn’t the same and it only got worse. We ended up breaking up again and 2 years later I met my current husband! We dated for 4 years and just recently got married. Never broke up once and he has never doubted our relationship like my ex did. You will find someone Rosie, even if it’s not the next guy you meet. Life has a way of showing you.

Moving back home doesn’t need to mean move back to your parents home. I sense you have a very Dominant mother which is hard after being on your own for a while. Buy or rent a place close by but not too close. Enjoy your life close to your family, grandparents but don’t be the little girl you sometimes portray and be the kind, independent woman you really are.

If your ex is the person for you, you will find each other again when the time is right. In 2015, I moved 1500 miles away from my ex after struggling with the end of our 7 year relationship. We stayed friends but lived our separate lives: we both went to graduate school, dated other people, went to therapy etc. In 2018, we reconnected romantically. And in 2020, I moved back to my hometown to be close to him. I have zero regrets and we’re both so happy together and so grateful for the journeys we took separately that lead us back to each other. Wishing you all the best Rosie ❤

The fact you said 'move back home' - aka 'home' - don't ever take for granted that you have a home, & how that feels. I will say: you need your own place & space - if you had that: your own home in Italy, your sanctuary: would you hesitate? You can make that happen. & there's a reason people break up - it doesn't work. It's hard, but it's much more difficult to look back & see wrong decisions.........don't settle - make your dreams come true: you got the talent, the smarts & the youth to do so.....

How much I relate to the indecisiveness you're describing. There's this thing called decision fatigue that you get tired when you have to make lots of small insignificant desicions throughout the day and then you don't have the mental capacity for big desicions. Your content is so relatable. You are a very talented video creator and your authenticity is what sets you apart. Rosie, you definitely don't owe us any explanations regarding your life. Take all the time you need to decide and always remember you can change your mind and that's ok. Exploring options and changing direction takes a lot of courage. Good luck! I would suggest breaking down the decision in 2 steps:First decide where you want to live irrespective of anyone else including your family and you ex and then when you’ve made that decision see if the ex compliments your life and your plans ahead because at the end of the day all of us have to learn to be a little selfish and focus on what we want and ofc the added benefit is finding people who enrich our plans or make them better! There’s no way of knowing who’ll stay and who’ll go you’re with you that’s the only fact 😊
@holmoleta
@holmoleta 2 жыл бұрын
It sounds to me like the only reason why you are considering staying in Canada is because of your ex, and the main reason for not leaving your ex is because of all the time and love invested in that relationship. In your position I would try and focus on where I feel the happiest with myself (even if alone) and ponder over why exactly the relationship ended and if you really love him as more than just a friend and for more than just the good memories you have with him. Also, keep in mind no decision is ever perfect, you always have to give up on something/ make some sacrifices in order to get to a better place for yourself. Tbh I always do a pros/ cons list and then go from there. Good luck!

I recommend going back to Italy to live with your Nonna and learn all her recipes!! Getting to learn my grandmothers recipes when she was still around was the best thing I’ve ever been able to do!🧡(she was first generation Italian to America immigrant) You are so young and have so many opportunities in front of you! All that being said take a deep breath and do what feels best to you! I used to be so afraid of making the wrong decision like I would be missing out on something monumental, but now I’ve realized that’s just a part of life..making mistakes and learning from them and that’s okay✨ Sometimes the biggest “mistakes” end up bringing the greatest joys to you!! So be easy with yourself and just follow what brings you the most happiness!!!🌼

You are right when you said u want someone who wouldn’t put themselves in a position to lose you because it’s very true. you’re young and beautiful you will meet many other guys in your lifetime. but always do what your heart feels ❤

Hi Rosie, I’m an Armenian girl from Los Angeles. Armenians/Italians are SO similar. I am also shy (I only have 1 video up from from many years ago for school)I just wanted to write you and share some of my thoughts. Relationships are hard, they are run by emotions. You should go to Italy, tell your family you need time to think and understand your decision…and really try to see you situation in Canada from your perspective while you are in Italy…then I think your decision may become more obvious. Do not fear what others (including your family) will think that you are taking long making a decision. You want to make sure it’s right so you can freely move on and continue your journey! Love does not only happen once; but if you find that he is the one…then even better.

do armenians like/watch the kardashians?
@nareovsepyan8103
@nareovsepyan8103 Жыл бұрын
@@vetiverose128 generally most Armenians dislike the association since they are so notorious for being obsessed with looks and materialism. For example, when people ask where I am from and I say I’m Armenian, the next comment is..”oh like the Kardashians!” And that to me…is depressing lol. Armenians also have very distinct features (white skin, long eyelashes (both men/women), thicker eyebrows, curvy bodies…and I dislike that these features got very popularized. If you notice one of the sisters Kylie Jenner is 0% Armenian, yet she looks just like Kim or most girls in Armenia that Kourtney/Kim’s/Rob’s look favor. Anyway, sorry to write such a long winded comment, but I do have a strong distaste for the Kardashians, because Armenians (for being such a small country) are known for creating many useful things such as the MRI machine that detects cancer today, concrete mixing trucks, first solar powered radio, first handheld hair dryer, and so much more in the fields of science! Also, Armenians all have “IAN/YAN” at the end of their last name, so you can always tell by looking at the end of a last name! Oh and the food! That’s a whole other story! Hope I have spread some useful info to you about Armenians OTHER THAN the Kardashians my friend. Peace from Los Angeles! ❤️

Rosie, youre endearing to watch so seeing you try food is fun because your expressions are sincere. I think thats why people like to watch those type of videos. As for Italian American, or Chinese American, or any other type of ethnic food made here, what people have to understand is that when waves of immigrants first came here decades ago, grocery store shelves werent like they are today. Many ingredients that you would use in the home country just werent available in Canada or the US so immigrants got creative and used what they had on hand which evolved into a whole new type of cuisine. It may not be "authentic" to someone raised in Italy, China, Greece, etc..but you arent in Italy, China, Greece, youre in Canada. 🙂

I've been here from the start. :) Cultural differences are so interesting. In my experience, as a (Mexican) Italian-American from the Midwest, my family & most Italian-Americans I've EVER met, are not very close to our culture, beyond the Ianguage & Americanized food, so seeing your prospective in your food videos is so attractive to me. While watching your videos, I enjoy your personality as well, so don't pidgeon-hole yourself into anything you're not passionate about. I can't wait to see what direction(s) your channel will go thru! 💜

Rosie Maio, the key is you being you and you are. Life is full of ups and downs, working through things and not giving up is precious amongst young ones. As long as you feel good about what your doing and where you are is really all the matters. Bless!

So Rosie, I just found your channel and I love it! You are a very good videographer and storyteller and I love the way you have included your heritage and your family in the stories you share with us. Here is some advice from a woman who is many times older than you… Never make any decision because of a man.They come and they go and you don't want to make serious decisions based on them because they change their minds a lot, especially when young. Also never accept a man back into your life if he cheated on you. Once a cheater, always a cheater. Continue to travel and visit different places while you are young. It expands the mind and it teaches you about life and people, which will help you be the best person you can be in the long run. Don't get married when you are too young and don't do intimate things with too many people. I think people should understand that giving your body to them is a gift... which is why many people reserve it for marriage. But long story short, do not offer the most precious gift that you have to too many people ...because it will become less precious to you and to them. You are a beautiful, well spoken, charming young woman ...and you will not die alone, unless that is what you choose to do, lol! Well! Don't rush into marriage or children because that is a life changing set of decisions and you need to be ready for it and with a husband who is ready, too. Last but not least...Always stop at the first sign of yellow light and don't drive so fast that you cant!!! I imagine great things happening to you in the future... you are breath of fresh air and a gem! I wish all the best to you and I am subscribing!

Rosie I'm so happy with your new video, I missed you a lot. I'm also very happy that you're feeling better and I think your indecision is totally understandable, but keep in mind to follow your heart. Theres somenting I need to say: please don't limit yourself to making only food videos, we love all your content, I feel great pleasure in feeling close to you as a friend ❤️ I really want to watch vlogs of your everyday life, see your shopping hauls, watch videos showing places you go regularly and places you are visiting for the first time, travel videos - everything you want to show I will happily consume, but above all hearing you talking about your life, about your thoughts and opinions is my favorite part. The platform promote more the food videos just because it understand that they are the most popular, but that does not mean that others are not loved and essential here. We truly love how you are unique, sincere and vulnerable. There is no one more authentic as you on this platform - it is your biggest differential, which makes everyone easily relate with you, please do not give up on that.

I completely understand what you mean about relationships being complicated. My first and only relationship started 2 months before my 18th bday; the first 5-6 years were very tumultuous and full of heartbreak (for me lol), now I’m 39 yrs old and we are still in love and still together in a much healthier, happier, mature situation. I’m not saying you should/shouldn’t stay, I’m just saying I’m an example of it being possible to “work out”

Omg I can relate sooo much with you about making life decisions. I am having to make very similar decisions right now. Being in our twenties and being confronted with all of these seemingly definite paths that we have to choose right now is really hard. I feel for you and can only say that reminding ourselves that nothing is as definite as it seems really takes some weight off of these decisions. And making wrong decisions is also ok and part of the process. The most important thing is to be kind, understanding and patient towards ourselves. And all will be well :)

A lot of Italians who emigrated outside of Italy had to make foods and combinations from what was available to them in their new country... thats why you don't see these foods in Italy..they are inspired by foods from the home country but they aren't authentic... I wish people would be kinder to those generations who want to pay homage to their roots

You remind me of my youngest sister and one of my closest friends who I look up to. They both have the same personality trait that you have where they take FOREVER to make decisions. The thing is, while they get all kinds of advice from everyone, it doesn't help them narrow anything down. What they really need to do, is surrender to their process and take whatever time they need to make up their own mind. My friend is someone I respect SO much. When she makes decisions, they are wise. And usually it's fine if it takes forever for her to decide. Where is the rush anyway? Life rarely sends us options where one choice is genuinely wrong and the other is genuinely right. More frequently decisions are just choices betweeen a certain kind of fruit. Maybe you pick one orange and it's super sweet, but you find a bruised spot. It doesn't mean you picked the wrong orange. Who knows, the other orange might have been totally sour. Or dry. Be good to yourself. Think about what YOU want most. You only have you to advocate for what you want in this life. It's not selfish to be on your own side, it's human. And honestly, you seem like a good person with a good heart. You've made good choices so far, so keep trusting your instincts.

Girl, saaaame! I'm so indecisive too and it's so frustrating. It feels like no matter what you choose, you'll choose wrong but at the same time there's a huge amount of pressure to still choose, no matter how big or small the matter of the fact is. I reckon it might be due to perfectionism or something because it's about not wanting to make a mistake. But yeah. I feel your pain about not knowing where to go concerning relationships and where to live. I respect your decision to keep it private though. That's a safe way to go for everyone's sake.

Thank you for sharing, it’s really brave of you to fill ppl in on ur personal life. It’s never easy & ur not alone. I wish u could visit my home town, I live in Hawaii. I think a change of scenery is also healthy, especially the Aloha we give, the vibe here is different 🌴🤍 we have our moments of up’s & down’s, financial struggles, relationship issues….but something beautiful occurs with taking a moment to go on a hike, or to the ocean, it’s sort of nature’s own way of offering us therapy. If I could travel, I’d love to visit Italy for sure 😍 hang in there, I really enjoyed this vid☺️

I don’t know if this is going to help anyone, but being indecisive is very often the effect of putting too much pressure on yourself, of being a perfectionist with your own life. So what works for me (cause I struggle with The same issue) is that I slowly allow myself to make decisions that can turn out to be mistakes because The truth is you are not supposed to “know” everything, you are supposed to experience your own life and figure it out on the way.

Agree, keep your private life just for you, and I encourage you to stay off social media as much as possible. It dims our light. As far as making decisions, sometimes making no change at all is the decision. For example, the winter coat. I could never choose a coat either, and then one winter, I bought an oversize, long wool sweater, and I layered underneath. It's so much better than a coat! You don't always need to be accomplishing something. Go with your intuition (your feelings) , it will never lead the wrong way. A presto!

The main thing I've learned from relationships: The only people that know their relationship are the people that are in it themselves. Basically if we were friends and you were going through this with your boyfriend I would say "I'm not sure (of what decision to make) because I'm not in your relationship, only you two know what to do". People can give you advice and opinions all day but nobody really knows your dynamic with your partner. However you feel when you're alone with that person that's all yours. You'll figure out what to do with it. 😉👍 And yeah chicken alfredo is nasty! LOL

Fettuccine Alfredo is very much an Italian thing. There’s a restaurant called alfredo alla scrofa in Rome. The founder was the man that invented it for his wife. It is served exclusively at that establishment. So just a correction, Fettuccine Alfredo IS an Italian thing and an institution, in fact.
