In this episode I am making my way back into the Namib Desert after having my fork seal replaced in Windhoek. Via the Spreetshoogte Pass I ride towards a tiny town in the desert, called Solitaire. On the way, I encounter a rare animal that very rarely shows itself during the daytime!

Noraly, what can I say, at 56 after over 40 years of riding bikes including being a Police motorcyclist and having been lucky enough to travel and see a fair bit of the world I am enthralled by your videos. I have followed your adventures through India, the Stans and back to Europe, back to your home in the the Netherlands, to South America, then around the Netherlands and Iceland and now to South Africa and Namibia. I really had no idea what South Africa and Namibia were like, the story telling, the humour, the educating, the motorcycling, the camera work, the time and the effort. Thank you for taking us on this latest adventure. It’s about time You Tube had annual awards for its most successful channels. If they did I am sure you would be winning just about every category. You and your channel shine like a 1 million watt bulb, Al, Airdrie, Scotland 👍

My husband just came across this channel about 1 1/2 months ago. Season 6 was posted and we watched it. We had spent 20 summers in Alaska so we were very interested in that series. But then I started at the beginning with Season 1. I was totally addicted. She is awesome - what a personality! Beautiful lady (that smile and her gorgeous eyes!). With every country she travels through I just keep saying WOW! This is wonderful travelogue and she also is teaching me a lot of history and information I never would have known without watching this. Noraly you are amazing. Please continue your travels, what would I do in the evenings if you weren't on. 🙂

Some people find the desert wilderness forbidding, Noraly finds it fascinating. Glad to have such a guide to tour us around places we will likely never see ourselves. BIG THUMBS UP! Only a few weeks ago, as reported per CNN: "Today, Thai Van Nguyen, a Vietnamese conservationist, was awarded the Goldman Environmental Prize, for his work to protect the animals ( pangolins ). The annual award is given to six pioneering environmentalists, each working in a different continent.".

@@ItchyBoots As you are a geoligist I would like to ask a question. The great flood in the Bible is diskribed as a very violent event. So violent that water covered the continents in a matter of days. I suppose that would give rise to un emaginable sediment displacement and earthquakes and eruptions. How would that, if tru be the impact on the layers you date the earth by. They would be meaningless if you consider the time sediment is put down today. The sudden burial of entire forests and animal species would be explained as well.

@@andrecloete2006 The bible is a collection of fairy stories written by iron aged goat herders that didn't know any better. I traveled the Namib desert on a weekly base and I enjoyed it so much. Working on the farm close to the namib desert was such an unique experience with hunting, farming, watching animals in the wild, repair water pipes throu the desert and things like that. The desert lives and has so much surprising moments to offer. I hope I will be back soon and ride the namib desert again with a motobike ….. in my mind, this area/desert is the most beautifull spot on earth that I know. I'm not known by family and friends for being particularly effusive. Not a lot really gets my juices flowing these days, as a curmudgeonly 57yr old. However, I just found myself watching the end of this video, as the drone tracked up and across a sunset-lit desert, and found myself saying, (forgive me! 😂) "f&#+ me" as I took in the almost unbelievable beauty of the landscape. Who'd have thought that a desert could be described as beautiful? I am on awe of how you manage to capture this, time after time. Having spent the last three months catching up on past videos, I feel like I've been on a journey myself around the world. Solitaire! A perfect place in the desert for you to find solitude. At this point, I believe 113,766 of us would like to share that with you (Oh, 66 gave a thumbs down -They want to stay home). But, it would destroy Solitaire for all of us. Thank you for sharing the magnificent ride and the incredible solace you found there.

Wow....I'm from Namibia 🇳🇦 and in our culture "OSHIWAMBO" when you come across a PANGOLIN it means you're very SPECIAL...because not everyone can easily or will be lucky to come across them.....especially in the wild...and we call it "ONGAKA" in my Language which is Oshiwambo and it's also highly protected as an endangered species here.....and can can get you in jail if caught with it...with a hefty sentence...

W😍W Gf, total W😍W! But then of COURSE it's W😍W because it's an Itchy Boots video! I always watch every second of your vlogs because they are each "good to the last drop"!! 😂 Actually "good" is not accurate, as MAGNIFICENT would be better word there. Or... MAGICAL! ...Or... SUPERB! Or... PERFECT! 🤣😍😉 ~Enjoyed the ride very much Noraly; thank you. Man you are SO very blessed to be free, truly free, biking around our world. I know you know that already and we are blessed to be able to come along with you. ~~Savannah's doing a great job as are you - the riding (luv seeing your shadow on the road!), the filming, the narration w/endless passion and lessons, the music, the incredible drone footage, the magnificent landscape and the fantastic places you find to stay at. ~~~PANGOLIN!!! WOOT!! Lucky you to see one! Poor cutie pie little beings. Selfish humans destroying their populations along w/so many other poor species. Insane and inexcusable. But back to the positive blessings - how very rare to see one! Thank you pangolin friend for showing yourself to Noraly friend! 🥰😊 ~~~~Ride on Gf - May The Universe continue to bless you and Savannah with safe travels, every single day - all ways and always. See you again soon! Hugs to you both! 🤣👋🤠👍🏍

Good evening, you had an awesome privilege to see a Pangolin, in Afrikaans it is known as an Itermagog. I like many other people have never seen one despite working in the wild areas of South Africa for more than 25 years. You are very blessed, God bless

5:05 Pangolins have large, protective keratin scales, similar in material to fingernails and toenails, covering their skin; they are the only known mammals with this feature. 😺

Perhaps Noraly will make a video on all the preparation she does before she sets out into nowhere. You obviously do a lot of preparation before you set out into those desert environments but what amazes me the last thing you think about is food until you are hungry. Possibly that would be the first thing most people would think about. LOL. Possibly those energy bars the racing cyclist carry might be a good idea.

Let's hit the dirt! (Visor down) It's always so interesting - and cool - that, in spite of the tire tracks evident on the dirt roads, you hardly ever actually meet another vehicle. The intense blue of that desert sky! Oh, when you took the break, and I was wondering how those scrub trees, etc manage to grow in that desert, you answered the question with the fog that supplies moisture. Wow! And the sunset drone!
