We just moved from a smallish town to Ann Arbor and we are always trying new restaurants, grocery stores, roads. I'm super intimidated by downtown. SO much traffic, parking, a maze of roads where I feel like everyone knows where they're going except me. I'm 59, definitely not as adventurous as I was before.

Jessica, I feel so opposite from you but I connect so deeply to you, your thoughts, and feelings. I’m 29, living in NYC, queer, child-less, not religious, but every single vlog you post I feel like I’m watching my big sister give me another reminder to LIVE LIFE. Thanks so much for all of the content you and the family put out, it’s always a highlight of my day.

I have to share this with you. Every so often me and my kids have a vacation day in our city we act like we have never been here before and take pictures of our day like we are on vacation and go to places we have never been too ! Lol also my daughter came up with this great idea that once a month we make and try foods from different countries she finds the recipes I find the music and then we make a whole dinner together! Love the idea of this video! This might be a weird thing but my "different thing" is for the first time I wore a dress without shaving my legs. I always shaved because I was scared of the judgment from coworkers etc. but in reality I HATE shaving and it hurts my sensitive skin. Maybe not something that different, but I'm proud of myself. Also, I've been wanting to try bubble tea and this has inspired me to stop after work and try a place near my house. Thanks for the inspiration!

I was struggling with my situation at work, and had to make some hard decisions (stress was affecting my health). We went on a cruise (hubby trying to help my stress, lol) and I spent the entire time trying to think through and figure things out. On the last night my husband didn't feel good. So I got dinner by myself and just people watched. Then I went to the atrium and got a glass of wine and listened to music. I saw several people we'd met over the week, and they'd say hi as they went by. It was ..... I don't know, exhilirating? It made me realize I can do whatever I want to, so I came back to work and had the hard conversations. Got a raise, resolved some procedure issues, and life is good!

After wanting to do it for several years, I drove to a flooring store, (well researched), picked out samples, brought them home, placed them all iver the house, chose which I loved, and made the decision to order. I'll have new flooring the first full week of June. I have procrastinated for many years. Why? It's been such a great feeling of "I finally did it! I can't wait!!"

Spread ricotta on toasted bread (I like an Italian pane best for this, Trader Joe’s has a great one), squeeze fresh Italian herb paste (in the produce section, comes in a tube) & swirl it. Add roasted red peppers, salt & pepper, then drizzle balsamic glaze on top. Alternately, sub fresh basil (chiffonade cut) for the Italian herbs. Eat open faced. Roll eyeballs back into your head after taking the first bite. Thank me later. ❤🤤

A while ago, I decided to try three places near me where the signage was all in Spanish. I was afraid that maybe I wouldn't understand their menu or products but that was NOT the case! One is a panaderia with delicious pastries that were very affordable. One was a restaurant that grills chicken on big grills and makes amazing sandwiches with it. And the other was an ice cream/paleta shop with some of the best ice cream I've ever eaten. I'd avoided these places for years because I thought maybe I wouldn't be welcome due to a language barrier but that was absolutely not the case. The employees were lovely and were patient with me, and the food was amazing in all three. So go to that bakery with Spanish on the sign. Go to that store with Arabic writing on it. Go to that restaurant with the Chinese menu. You will probably love it!

Pro tip Jess: Keep a roll of TP in the car. Can't tell you how many times I didn't realize I was on the last roll at midnight or something and had to go grab one from the car. lol Another thing I do is if I pull the last roll out, I don't put it ON the holder, I set it on the counter so that every time I use it, I know it's the LAST roll (except the one in the car) and it reminds me to put it on the list and get it soon, lol

Loved your nature walk talk! I want to legitimize your experience for a moment since I think you downplayed the impact of this day on your life. However, life is so habitual. You’re building micro-habits of doing new things and finding joy in the “weird” or “new”. That will absolutely bleed into the big choices of life, so celebrate this as a big win and remember so much of our life will be lived through our small, habitual actions! Have a lovely weekend ☺️

This video could not come at a better time for me. I have been feeling completely stuck for quite a while now, about life in general and I know it is due to very tough emotional situation after a personal loss months ago but despite of being aware of how i have been feeling and knowing it is on me to do something about it, I never seem to be at the right moment to take action and change something. I have been extremely anxious, like afraid to go out on my own and only doing it when absolutely necessary. Seeing you taking a "new things" day was like the eye opener that I needed to inspire me and kick me on the butt for good😍 in particular that lovely walk in the nature. I live by a river and it is absolutely gorgeous, and despite of the weather still being cool and rainy, it just hit me that it is exactly what I must do to get started. If you ever, ever feel unsure of what you are doing with your channel, simply think that you may have a huge impact on others' lives with just one of your videos. So thank you☺

It’s so crazy because I’m watching this video a couple of days after you posted, but the last 2 weeks have literally been so outside of the norm for me. I started a ceramics class. I realized that my old dry cleaners ( I use to live in the town where my class is) got turned into a coffee house. I went to that coffee house. I went to lunch at one of my old favorites. I went to lunch at a new place. I drove home from class a different route each time. It’s actually been super fun. If I hadn’t signed up for the class I would’ve never met my classmates and I’ve actually finished some pieces. We can all do new things and it just feels good to feel like you are really living.

I love this!! This would be an amazing series. Not only are you trying something new, but you’re taking the vlog along. A lot of anxieties about trying new things is not knowing the “rules” or how the new situation works. Maybe you showing your new things will take a little of that piece of the anxiety out. I know that’s my biggest piece. For example: My husband and I are taking the train to Chicago next month. This will be *my* first time ever taking the train. The trip isn’t for another month.. but even purchasing the tickets made me feel like I was going to throw up from anxiety 😂😂 idk the rules behind boarding or finding a seat or how to move between cars or eating in the dining car. I’ve searched KZbin high and low trying to find someone doing a walk through to ease a little of those anxieties, and it’s really hard to find that kind of help.

Prettily is totally a word LOL. And my family used to make those energy balls when I was a kid! We called them peanut butter balls. The only peanut butter allowed in my house was the all natural kind that you had to stir, and the balls never separated. It wasn't an issue. We didn't make them with chocolate chips, and my mom used powdered milk instead of protein powder. I'm sure they're better with a good tasting protein powder though. I can't have them now. I'm diabetic and they're waaaay too sugary for me. But I remember them fondly!

This is so great!! Change is healthy and getting used to doing different things is so liberating. I mean somebody had to think about mixing peanut butter with chocolate to make Reese's right?!!😅😅 of course I have to talk about chocolate lol. My husband and I felt like changing our home decor, adding more color and texture, also we changed the photos that were in our frames to some cute sayings from the show Friends😅. They came out so good and the project was fun. It can be something as simple as changing your makeup routine (I've stopped using foundation, just concealer and a tint) to putting your dining table in a room other than the dining room lol. I remember how refreshing it was to change the furniture arrangement in a room. Have fun with it Jessica and have a beautiful Mother's Day!! Thank you for another great video 💞.

I found this really inspiring, thank you. I am currently recovering from major surgery and illness and have been really struggling with everything. This reminded me that new things and changes don’t have to be big and scary, so thank you.

The ONLY thing we buy at Fresh Market is their Little Big Meal! It's like Hello Fresh that you can pick up at the store. Usually $25

You are so creative with your Vlogs, to get out of any comfort zone is hard. But you rocked it! I might try to do something new this weekend. You inspired me!

I think people find comfort in routine. I know I do. I’m happier at home than anywhere else. But I’m 58, I’ve seen and done some things. 😄

What an inspiring vlog!! I’ve really been wanting to try new recipes lately but always fall back into the same old same old. This has inspired me to search up new meal ideas and make a grocery list for the weekend! I may also look into purchasing that cookbook you’ve mentioned in past videos! This could be the start of something great! Lots of new things in life to try!

I totally changed up my exercise time and I love it!! I have always done my workouts around 1:00 pm. I decided to get up early and workout/cardio walk before breakfast. It’s sooooo much better! I don’t know what I was thinking(?), was I going to pass out from starvation or something? I will never go back 🥰, it’s so nice to get it out of the way early in the morning.

Random comment but I also talk to my doggies the same way! Great topic as well to change things up in your routine!

Thanks for sharing. It's always inspiring to see someone try something new. We do always get stuck in doing things the exact same way. It's so simple to make a change, but our brains try to tell us otherwise

I looooove this! As a Taurus we tend to be so routine and never stray from the comforting routines. I need this motivation to switch it up sometimes. Keep this going. I would love to see more.

Ive been tryint to do this more. Stop at a coffee shop and work instead of going right home, go on walks and hikes in new places by myself, etc. This is a great idea for a video!

Jess! Love you and this video as usual ❤️I always save your videos for the weekend when I am relaxing on the couch. Today I watched it while riding the new exercise bike I was just gifted. I have always been nervous to try cycling but finally I decided to switch up my routine and I loved it and am so proud of myself. How appropriate that this happened while watching THIS video ❤️❤️
