Watched all the other journalists reviews, and IMO yours was the best, well done you two! I plan to buy one as soon as I can get a bed topper for the dogs. One nice thing about my Silverado is the space under the seat that allows my two dogs to spread out with kids in the seats. Can’t quite do this with this truck, thus the need for a bed topper, then I could remove the glass and have a suburban. Again great review, you both hit all the good parts.

This was a great review! Honest, balanced in +/- comparisons with other electric trucks, and done in a short video packed with detail. Looks like GM designed a great truck. I appreciate what you said about the lower efficiency (and huge battery) in this truck. Compared to an equivalent ICE truck, the efficiency is still great and with more and more of our power coming from wind and solar, the efficiency is less of a concern.

Also kudos for the GM rep being honest about the sustainability aspects throughout the video; it's the first time I've heard a manufacturer rep be blunt about their product. I think it's refreshing. Most people don't go into a dealer and request the sustainability credentials of their ICE vehicle, even if they care about the environment. Separating sustainability from capability is going to help GM transition a lot of traditional truck owners into EV. For one it will help the truck stand on it's on two feet, rather the impression that it's being forced on the consumer as a requirement rather than something they want. Further, they are removing the excuses for not driving an EV. Too many of the current products and their owners demand sacrifices from EV owners. For example: "slow down if you want range", "you can tow further if you go 20mph under the speed limit", "don't use the heater in freezing cold, use the seat warmers to save battery", "no one can go that far without stopping", "you don't need that much battery", "do a lot of planning before your trip". Who wants to switch over and deal with all that, when ICE can do it without sacrifices? GM has said, "have your cake and eat it too, we've removed all of your excuses; come join the fun EV truck brand where you won't even realize you're in an EV".
@Yielar123 күн бұрын
I'm typically a Ford guy but I'll have to say this is currently my favorite EV truck on the market. I love the overall design inside and out and I think they really thought everything through to make it functional. Be nice if they would have put 2 receptacles in the front frunk area instead of one but that's not the end of the world. Hopefully they add KZbin and Netflix for the center screen as that's quite nice when you're parked or charging. The 800 volt architecture and 350+ kw charging speed along with the properly sized battery really makes it worthy of replacing a half ton gas truck and someone like myself who tows an RV could easily own this truck. I don't like EVs because they are "greener" per say I just like all of the extra torque and less maintenance essentially while being able to charge in my own garage whenever I want. Keep in mind these battery packs are fully recyclable nowadays and it's not like they get thrown in the garbage dump, like some might have your believe. Nice job GM! I'll be in the market again in the end of 2027 so we'll see what Ford's upcoming EV truck code named T3 brings.

You are correct about regen being stronger than Tesla. Actually, All current GM EVs seem to have better regeneration and one-pedal driving experience compared to Tesla. You want maximum regeneration as possible, because you can always “choose” to have less, just by feathering pedal. You ideally never want to cause brake pad wear if you can recover the energy instead. I’ve driven lots of EVs an none of them compare to GM’s one pedal driving experience…note how smooth you stop , and start. The brakes seamlessly engage, and hold. Better than Tesla , and far far better than ford Mach E, which actually gives a “clunking” feeling when brakes are engaged and disengaged with every stop.

More batteries just makes it heavier, more expensive and gives it faster depreciation. I was amazed at the GMC Sierra and Chevy Silverado EV, but there are some glaring omissions made to the feature list. #1 For a work truck in a work environment, some buyers may not want the glass panoramic roof. Thing is, they don't offer a power sunshade cover. EVERY SINGLE EV WITH A FIXED GLASS ROOF SHOULD HAVE A SUNSHADE COVER. The heat can be dispelled using the ventilated seats, but that takes longer than not letting the heat in by covering the glass. Furthermore, when you're waiting to charge at a charging station, you have no respite. Chinese auto makers are putting heating/ventilation and massage in the 1st row AND second row - for less money. #2 No massaging seat feature. WHY DIDN'T GM simply design the exact same seat mechanics for the *cheaper* Lyriq, and all their other Ultium products? #3 It weighs 4.5 tons but only tows around 10,500 pounds. Just about any of the 5-L or higher gas engines does better than that and costs about half the price. $100,000+. That's a lot. The feature I like most about GM Ultium trucks is their power delivery system for 110- 240v out. Great for camping. But if your house isn't prepped for reverse-power delivery, it may not make a difference.

It’s simple, Instead of targeting a small audience like the Cyberbeast doing 0 to 60 in under 3 seconds for a truck. GMC is trying to target actual truck drivers who could care significantly more about range than toy thrills. I am actually shocked that GM is far closer to getting to that 500 mile than Tesla is for a truck even though Tesla promised that 5 years ago.

I love what GMC is doing in terms of battery and making their EVs look like their gas counterparts. 400 mile range should be the standard in 2025. Tesla, more battery please.

How much do the batteries cost to replace after 6 years? Assuming they last that long.

The efficiency of EV motors is great but the issue of mileage of Trucks pulling may necessitate a transmission to allow for higher mileage with a lower torque at higher speeds.

Trucks are for work! If you can only tow a heavy load for 100-150 miles, it’s not a truck.

GM's poor battery technology is hindering this truck's potential. They could come up with better technology to use less battery and therefore less weight, and more efficiency. I don't agree that the front looks manly, I don't like the look at all. But I do love that truck bed and tailgate, that is sweet. And the available electrical power front and back and the frunk are awesome too.
