I will say that off the leash thing is dangerous! I'm glad Victoria addressed that, I know because I had a German Shepard which a little dog charged up at him. I hate anyone that takes their dog out without a leash. I don’t care how much your dog listens to you, it’s disrespectful to the people around you. It’s definitely not okay for your dog to approach another without owner permission, because you have no idea how the OTHER dogs behavior is and they could very much hurt your own dog. Besides, there’s many people who are deathly afraid of dogs, and imagine how much worse they would feel seeing a dog walk by without a leash. It’s just very selfish and idiotic.

Reminds me a bit of my Grandmother's dog. Ashley was a dachshund. And she demanded to rule the house. If the other dogs wanted to play, she'd run in the middle and bite at their faces and bark. Our dogs stopped playing as much as a result. which was sad because they loved to play. And Grandma would just ignore it, think her dog was doing nothing wrong and would call her over to offer her pets and kisses. My grandma did everything wrong as a dog owner. Meanwhile mom and I would try to retrain her, Grandma would ruin whatever progress we'd make by rewarding bad behavior.

My husband and his half Dachshund, half?, an aggressive 40 pound monster were like your Grandmother. He would never be consistent or control him. When his dog went after him, and nearly caused him to fall, he suddenly realized the dog was dangerous. I was afraid that the dog would bite me (although he was better when my husband was three weeks in rehab after an illness), and his grandson was terrified to come over- the dog caused our guests to be fearful. He had to be muzzled. It was terrible. Because my husband is medically fragile and has poor balance, his dog had to be put down because nobody could manage him and his aggression. A shame, but not a surprise.

@@m6666 Exactly. Similar to my dad's dog, a chihuahua, he rules over my dad and his house. Yet when he's in my house it's a completely different story. He's very calm and able to actually sleep which is something he barely does around my dad because he's constantly on guard. My dad will actually say I need to trim his dog's nails because he can't do it. When he tries the dog gets extremely angry and starts biting. For me he'll growl and groan but won't bite. When he was younger he tried biting at me once and I just snapped back at him and he has never tried again. He knows I'm not afraid of him.

My mom's Chihuahua/Maltese mix was a sweet dog, but used to get up on my bed and pee on it. Mom never did anything about it. I just had to keep my door shut at all times. We had multiple small dogs over the years and my mom never trained them. It always drove me insane. She is actually a big reason that I'm such an advocate for training small dogs. People think that just because they're little that they don't require training like big dogs do, and that's just not true. Every dog, regardless of size, needs training.

Why do they have retractable leashes? I see an almost every episode that these owners have retractable leashes, and those are horrible you can’t control a dog on those you can’t correct a dog on those what if the button failed or broke and your dog just goes off from you and attacks another dog and he should not be letting his dog lose the other roommate. It doesn’t matter. If she is friendly, she could run up to a aggressive, big dog and it attacks her. That’s why they have a leash laws.

My sister has a dog that currently acts likes this, constantly feeds him human food, and encourages his destructive and violent behavior. Every single time I get angry when he's trying to actively bite me my sister will say that he's small and doesn't bite hard...it's so frustrating. Her dog constantly pees EVERYWHERE and she absolutely refuses to pick it up, not even to mention the separation anxiety and how this thing wakes me up at 5 in the bloody morning every day with his barking. I have two dogs, both large, who don't bark inside and are potty trained. They can't leave my room cause of that menace, hell I can't even go to the kitchen without shoes on. Though my sister is a 17 year old high school dropout who doesn't think inbreeding effects a dog's quality of life.

If that was a big dog they would have had to put it down by now, it's bitten like how many people? Victoria is incredible honestly, I would have kicked it across the room, I cannot stand aggressive ankle biters. Edit for all small dog lovers - I do not own a dog, don't worry, I have a cockatoo. No dogs getting kicked here. Not a chance I'd share my house with an aggressive rat. And then it's scared of a frigging click. Seriously 🙄 budgies aren't even scared of clickers!

It's sad that I knew there were gonna be people going "just roommates/friends? Oh, I'm sure". Even sadder that such a thing was the first comment at the top 😮‍💨 Y'all probably also believe a straight man and woman can't live together as just friends.

Victoria always says things like “ a long road ahead” far too many other TV trainers give the impression they have turned around really bad aggression in 5 minutes

It bites them, bites others, bites other dogs, is territorial around the house and never stops barking. They can’t live in their house without this nuisance. “Big strong men afraid” is not right but we know what you were doing. You tried it.
