Your instructionals are top level. It would be great if you uploaded these more frequently.

Love it, Sifu. I love how you explain what is anatomically feasible for your body. As I've queried some of my Wing Chun and JKD pals about Yu Ma, I now know, through you what the rising energy is since no one knew the term, even my Cantonese buds. Funny how after all these decades, you're the first I've heard use the term! We just simply referred to it as rising and sinking energy. Lovely energy as your tapping the dummy arms! These forms are missing from the Jun Fan Gung Fu Institute but I've learned and continue to learn on my Wing Chun journey.

I bought a dummy and started classes, 2 years later still not on the dummy form lol you need the basics and the first 3 or 4 forms down pretty good before dummy then weapons.

Excellent demo and explanation of the concepts/principles of the dummy. Thx for sharing. When you talk about the rising and sinking energy you project into the dummy do you feel this set up for the dummy (with the frame) is essential to get the full benefit of that or is a fixed dummy into the ground (where you can get behind it as well) or fixed into a wall also good? All the best to you 🙏

It's in a frame.

10:25 The Wing arm or bong sao is not an attacking movement unless it is fully extended to a hand strike or turn in to an elbow strike, in it's default position it is a readjustment move with the rest of the body in order to be turned into an attack or it can be consider in certain situations as a counter attack by redirecting the force of the opponent, however it is absolutely no defensive or blocking move like in Karate, or Taekwondo.

looking forward to your video context, in which you explain this.

This bong sao can absolutely be an attacking or defending movement. In fact, most movements in the Wing Chun forms can be attacking movements. Either your school teaches this aspect of Wing Chun another way or you haven’t yet been taught it can be an attacking application. I’m from a different lineage to Izzo. So there are quite a few Wing Chun concepts and applications I differ with him on, which is fine we have differing Wing Chun ways. So I have no bias towards his views. But this is definitely not one concept/application I differ with him on.

Thanks for putting this series up, I no longer remember all the sections of the Jong form. I never owned a jong, so I did it in the air when at home. I kept up with the first 3 forms, but the dummy started to leave me over the years

This “My wing chun…” way of don’t whatever one wants must be how the church split after being the dominant force in humanity for so long. Now all that matters is that you believe…
