DOUBLE TRAGEDY: Jackie was singing " Lonely Teardrops" in 1975 and collapsed when he sang " my heart is cryin" ....when he fell on stage floor the crowd roared .....they thought it was part of the act. But Dick Clark was there and knew it wasn't and immediately called for aid.....CPR was given by a CPR trained member of the next singing group waiting to go onstage. Terrible tragedy. Jackie was in coma from the stroke for few weeks. He finally woke up. The nurses & PT got him Up. He stood with PTs help and walked beside bed for 5 to 6 steps and had another stroke right then and there. That one did all the severe damage. It was Elvis Presley that went to see him. Elvis paid ALL his medical bills. After Elvis died, Graceland continued Elvis' instruction to pay for Jackie's bills. Utterly Heartbreaking. When someone tries to say Elvis didnt give back, there is NO BETTER proof than this. No cameras, no press. ZERO RECOGNITION. NO ONE KNEW outside the Presley and Wilson families that Elvis did this until after THEY BOTH PASSED. RIP Forever Brothers in Paradise...... you really did stand by each other...

Elvis didn’t pay most of Jackie’s medical bills, but not for lack of trying. To give credit where due, Dick Clark paid the bulk, from the beginning, till Jackie’s 1984 death (this wasn’t known for years). When Elvis found out Jackie was broke, he did contact the facility & learned the bills were being paid (though not necessarily by whom). Per George Klein, Elvis then assigned George to stay in constant contact & report back to Elvis, no less than once a week (which he did, till Elvis died). George was to find out if there were any bills not paid, or if there was anything, big or small, needed/wanted, even if it was just to make Jackie’s visitors comfortable (back then, a TV in the hospital room cost extra). In just 2 years, Elvis purportedly paid over $40K for Jackie’s care, mostly for “extras”, including such little things as fresh flowers weekly & snacks & magazines for visitors. Per Sonny West, Jackie treasured his 1966 photo with Elvis (autographed “Jackie, you got a friend for life”) & it was at Jackie’s bed side till the day he died.

Elvis' version of Rock & Roll was the mixing of Country Music with R&B. It was still an unknown in the mid 1950s. At that time, many just labeled it R&B music and that had a negative connotation to the mainstream. The Las Vegas crowd at that time were adults & senior citizens. Elvis was a young energetic kid playing this new music. The audience gave him a luke warm reception. Fast forward to 1969 when Elvis made his comeback in Vegas, people came from all around the world to see him. He broke all attendance records.

Both her and one of Jackie's daughters also verified that Elvis was quick to help out the family with Jackies medical expenses. I'm with you brother, I hope this new film does Elvis Justice. The man really deserves it. And considering so much of this type stuff has been relatively unknown to many people, I think many others would appreciate learning more about this part of Elvis life. And the crazy part is some of those videos out there that dive a little deeper into this type stories still only are barely scratching the surface. There's a lot more information out there never documented on any videos, that are in writing inside of books and interviews from people involved in civil rights era and other parts of music industry that had a lot of positive insights regarding Elvis. I know because I've read many of those interviews but have never seen any historians publicly produce a proper book or documentary on all of it. Amazing someone that famous could be gone as long as he has and still so much not known. But this coming film you mentioned ...a good start, to getting many ppl to take a better look and understanding of what Elvis was about

He wasnt fired, but the management of the Frontier Hotel said that they could not continue to hire him because in April of 1956, the audience who was attending shows in Las Vegas hotels was an older audience. So the showroom at the Frontier was half empty. He was the #1 singer in the US, both singles and albums, but Las Vegas, as a nightclub attraction, was a tough sale for him then. He conquered it in 1969 by bringing 110,000 gamblers in 29 days. LOL. Anyways, so that you understand better, this is what Robert Redford, then 20 years old and in college, had to say about seeing him at the Frontier. Amnd I quote "I'd already discovered black music with Big Jay McNeely at the Blue Sax in North Hollywood and made the blues-jazz connections, so I wanted to experience this Elvis thing. He was a support act to Freddy Martin at the Frontier, a fancy supper club that we couldn't afford. So I persuaded the guys to pool cash and we came up with $10, then charmed a waitress to let us dine on rolls while we watched the show. From the moment Presley started with “Hound Dog”, I was a convert. It was electrifying, a validation, to see these stuffed-shirt socialites who'd come to see Freddy Martin clamp up in reverence. I thought, Hey, a kid with nothing, from nowheresville, can do this!” Unquote Robert Redford, as told to author Michael Feeney Callan in the 2020 bio entitled Robert Redfoird a biography" All the best

Jackie was nicknamed "Mr. Excitement", and was an awesome showman and one of the most dynamic singers and performers in soul, R&B, and rock history. He and Elvis were great friends and when Jackie had a heart attack, in 1975 I think, I do know that Elvis paid the hospital bill. Then later, and I know this is a point of fact, too, that Elvis paid for his continued nursing care until Elvis passed away two years later. These are facts I have been able to confirm. While it's said that Dick Clark, thereafter, took over the nursing care bills due to Elvis being gone and Jackie, sadly, not being able to afford them;-( Hell of a guy, though, I can tell you that!!!

The first time Elvis did Vegas, was early in career when those who could afford to go to Vegas and were more middle aged and not fans of early Rock and Roll Elvis style. That was not the case, after Elvis 1968 Comeback Special as he was in demand in Vegas and had a lucrative contract with sold out shows. Back in the 50s, many adults did not know that Elvis was such a great singer of all types of music. Back in the 50s not as many people travelled by plane, and Vegas was not so built up and glamorous with such a variety of entertainers.

It wasn't a 6 week contract it was 2 week contract.. He wasn't fired he performed the Entire 2 weeks... the reason it flopped was because the audience was older and just didn't get this 21 year old full of soul and fire and was far from impressed with his singing, style and moving around ( He was doing the same songs and doing the same gestures, and then all of a sudden not getting the same responses,” He was just such a different kind of performer, it was hard for those Vegas critics to sort of catch on to something that was really brand new, I guess, Angie Marchese ( Head of The archives Department at Graceland ) says. “Elvis was like, ‘OK, am I doing something wrong? People aren’t reacting the way they normally do.’ Elvis didn’t know how to respond to that.” There’s was a touch of desperation in his voice in the sole audio evidence of those two week, on May 6, his final night. Elvis threw a little bit of everything at the Venus Room crowd. I’d like to tell you, it’s really been a pleasure being in Las Vegas,” Elvis said, full of sincerity. “This makes our second week here. Tonight’s our last night. We’ve had a pretty hard time, uh, had a pretty good time while we were here.”

He wanted to search for the truth .He want to know why God put him on the Earth .He wanted to know why did God pick him out and bestowed this gift and what was the purpose He honestly felt that .I read a story and a vocal coach Trained in voice said the notes and his ability to sing words and how he would just go for it in a operatic tone with no training no study of vocal phrases zero and it was asked how is that possible Elvis to have that voice that can actually hit notes that are nearly impossible without voice training with a vocal coach breathing technique He said God gave that voice to him and God doesn't make mistakes funny thing the guy that asked him that is an atheist but he said maybe there is a God ....

Loving your reviews on Elvis , here's my perspective , did Elvis take black culture and music and take itfoehis own, yes , but and growing up in a northern British town, Elvis introduced me to black music, and great black geniuses. I learned about we're he got his music from , and listened to the original recording, which in a lot of cases were better than Elvis.

The reason Elvis got fired was because he went to Vegas in 1956. He was singing Mean Woman Blues and wiggling while the popular thing on the charts was "Hot Digidy Dog Digiddy". The audience was older and didn't like Elvis is style. You can find the recording of that show on youtube and hear how Elvis is degrading the Audience. Compare the two songs as well on youtube. Elvis went and performed IN front of an audience that was not ready for that style. He was nervous about performing in 1970 in Vegas because of this but he conquered Vegas with a Vengeance and remained the top draw till his death in 1977.
