Hi! Great video! I have been intermittent fasting for about a year. I started with 16:8 and worked up to 20:4. I was diabetic and through diet change I am no longer :). The 20:4 gives me flexibility to eat some higher carb items since my blood sugar is only spiking once a day. I love that. I went back on to 16:8 and an 8 hour eating window seemed sooo long and I went crazy eating. I am back on 20:4, it works for me. I love only having to worry about food once a day. Lol.

@@whimsicalwitch1578 Hi, if I'm not inspired by any protein dish, I just make a 3 egg cheese (cheddar or other 'keto' cheese) omelette or frittata. Yum, Or a gooey bacon cheese burger (no bread of course); or a nice piece of salmon or trout or other fish sautéed in butter. Always lots of cooked veg: broccoli, cauliflower, peppers, asparagus if you can get it (you can get a keto veg list online), drinking lots of water all day long with electrolytes which cut hunger. Also a big green salad seasoned with olive oil and lemon juice. Add Himalayan salt and pepper to everything. If still hungry, I make a mini pancake out of almond flour, egg and almond milk and Swerve sweetener, and flavor it either with melted 85% dark chocolate or red berries (keto friendly): raspberry, strawberry, gooseberry which I freeze. I feel lots better eating more on a shorter window and truly my appetite is all but gone outside of that window. All the best...

It seems hard to retrain our brains that fat is good for us, but lots of fats is the secret of this diet which restores our health and mental health, for sure. That, and avoiding ALL carbs except the natural ones in veggie. And banning sugar. Giving up fruit is tough, but red berries are allowed, I can live with that, I feel sOOOo much better and no more high bp! Mental acuity back to 'young filly'.

@@whimsicalwitch1578 WOW, what happened to my super lengthy response? wow, gone. Short version: 3 egg omelette w bacon, large salad (7 cups a day!), cooke green and low carb veg (broccoli, asparagus, cauliflower, celery) spaced out over an hour or so. Lots of water and electrolytes, super important! If still 'starving' after a couple of hours, you can make a guilt-free keto pancake or chaffle (cheese waffle), you can add red berries and sweeten with Swerve or stevia. Dark choc. 85% is good and allowed too, just melt and pour over your keto treat, sweeten to taste. All the best from France..

I did something similar when I quit smoking 21 years ago. I had to play mind games with myself. I remembered one time when I was going to start a diet the next day I pretty much ate everything in my pantry. I had thrown new packs of cigarettes away to try and quit and would stop at the next convenience store and buy another pack. Enter my plan for a mind game. I put a full pack of cigarettes on the top of the fridge and said I'll smoke tomorrow. I just won't smoke today. Heck, I'll smoke my brains out tomorrow if I want. I just won't smoke today. No problem. That day was easy so the next day I said "ok not today. But I will tomorrow if I want" eventually the pack was so old I threw it out. Telling myself I was just refraining for one day took the panic out. Eventually I stopped seeing myself as smoker but as someone that used to smoke. I use what I learned then now with my intermittent fasting.

The window I've been doing is 18/6 minimum & sometimes I do 20/4, like 2 or 3 days a week for the 20/4. I set my goal to stop eating by 6pm, but depending on what's going on that day I will set my finish time for 7pm. These two definitely work best for me. I tried the 23 /1, that did not work for me whatsoever. I think everyone needs to do what they find best for them. I love doing intermittent fasting & I definitely see differences in myself & feel a lot better too. I am not focused on weight goals right now, I do it to feel better due to multiple autoimmune disorders I suffer from.

I'm also on OMAD currently but am working towards ADF or alternate day fasting. My eating window right now is one hour max but I can usually get everything down in 30 min. But either way I allow myself 1 hour so I fast for 23 hours every day. Been going at it for a week exactly today and down 5 lbs. I have about 45 more to lose. I count calories and stay between 1100 and 1400 calories in that single meal. Here's what I usually eat: I break my fast with a smoothie that contains 1 avocado, 3/4 cup vanilla Greek yogurt, 1 cup of frozen berries and water filled to the top of my single cup blender Then I eat dinner that consists of 2 pieces of either chicken or fish (tilapia, salmon or grilled chicken), 20 spears asparagus or 2 cups of brocolli or cauliflower with butter and pepper, and then I finish up with 2 small gala apples and that still leaves me 300 calories to eat whatever I want so that could be some ice cream, a piece of cake, some chips or whatever I'm craving. It doesn't have to be perfect but that's generally what I eat daily cause it's easy to make and virtually zero clean up since I bake the fish/chicken and the vegetables all on the same pan in the oven. I feel full for a really long time w this plan but do whatever is best for you!!

Intermittent fasting is actually free thinking because you aren’t confined to a set of rules. When you “diet” all you think about is counting points, tracking food and eating things you don’t necessarily like and it is very time consuming, constrictive and tedious. Fasting gives you the freedom to eat what you want when your window is open and your day is not consumed with a list of do’s and don’ts, good or bad, right or wrong. If I’m tempted to eat more than my body requires during my open window I just remember that in another 20 or so hours I can eat again so my mind set gives me the ability to stop at full knowing the next meal is just around the corner or should I say just around the clock!

Your suggestions are very good. My system is very similar to yours. My OMAD fasting window is 20 hours (makes it easier to do the math for me). If I have to do a lunch with family or friends, my window slides upward for that day, meaning I don't eat dinner, so no cheating is possible for me. 😁. That's because I only eat once a day. Whether it's lunch or dinner doesn't really matter. I will still get at least 20 hour fasting in no matter what. I have to admit, some days are harder than others. Those are the days I drink a lot of coffee. 😂

I like your comments Kelly - especially the one about coffee! I never dreamed I could do this until I was able to start drinking my coffee black. That really seems to be the key for me! Whenever I use to drink my coffee with "flavors" it would increase my appetite during the day and keep me in a constant state of high insulin!
@hotchicsf
@hotchicsf 2 жыл бұрын
@@charleneluedtke5751 I can't do black. My stomach can't handle that much acid. I put in my cup a tablespoon of half-n-half and it cuts the acid down enough for me. Milk is good for my body and the tiny amount of calories burn off within minutes, so it does not interfere with fasting.

@@hotchicsf I am so glad you found the formula that works for you Kelly! Until 25 days ago, I could not stomach black coffee, not even the thought of it! I think since I got over the Covid19 virus in November last year that really turned me off of my flavored coffee, I have been able to drink black coffee with no problems or side effects. Black tea on the other hand upsets my stomach so I lay off of that until I am able to eat something! Good luck on your IF journey!

The flexibility of your plan sounds appealing. Here's one thing to consider, however...if you stick to the same window every day, you can train your body to not be hungry during the fast. I enjoy getting the knowledge of what you and others do with ya'll lifestyle change in eating. I started omad last year and fell off by the holidays. Got back to doing it in May, but I incorporated (ADF) alternate day fasting. I do omad on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Sundays are optional. And on Tuesdays and Thursdays I don't eat at all. I am a type 2 diabetic that started off weighing 315 lbs. So far I am down to 285 lbs. The goal is to get to 250 lbs or more and definitely not be a diabetic anymore. I drink my metamucil and apple cider vinegar. From my last doctor's appointment, my doctor was extremely happy with test results, but doesn't really like that I am doing omad. But I feel good and plan to continue this lifestyle change. It may look like I'm doing 24/48. But it doesn't feel like it. Fix this journey to how you can make it. Don't go exactly by the book. Definitely like to thank you all for equipping me with the knowledge of doing this. And especially my brother from New Horizon Church, Troy Bingham who got me started doing omad.

Love your advice. I was on a 16/8 but I found I just wasn't ready to eat straight away when breaking. My break is early on a morning and I'm never hungry on a morning so I'm now on a 18/6. I dont want to up that. But I want to have my starter, main course then fruit. I'm full enough to get me through the day. I work out at night. My goal is to lose 50lbs. I've lost 5 of those already and I've only been making these lifestyle changes for 2 weeks. I bloated the first week and gained 5lbs on the scales. But it was all water bloat from the change I was putting my body through. That's now gone and I can feel my body tightening up. I feel AMAZING. I'm 48 year old and disabled but I push through the pain to make my body stronger to handle my disabilities and this will able me to be more independent for longer. I have Spondylosis of the spine and this has been my "excuse" for too long. I either accept my disabilities and end up with someone needing to care for me....or I take control and build my strength. Fasting is the best way to feel in charge and in control. This empowerment alone gives me the will to push through my chronic pain and just take my life back. I recommend it to everyone now! Do it...there is no excuse! It's totally free!!!!!

@@FastingFoodie hi have a question for you, what is the latest you would eat. Or does it matter or make a big difference if you stop at 7pm or 10pm as long as you are doing the 18 hour minimum? I have been doing this for a while and have lost about 20 lbs but try to stop at 7pm.

My experience with fasting was a little different. I didn't intentionally implement it. I started keto and as time progressed I just didn't feel hungry so I figured I might as well just keep my eating to when I was hungry. Most times I didn't eat all day and went into the next day. So fasting ended up being always more than 24 hours. It averaged 32 to 42 hours and that is my current schedule. I basically eat every other day just because I'm not hungry daily, and not because I'm sticking to a preconceived number of how many hours I should fast.

I started IF a couple years ago, and it took me several months to get my act together, and found what you're saying is true. Allow for tho6days that may be off, but go back the next day. But I ended up getting acute bronchitis and ended up in the hospital for 7 days. Totally messed me up. Haven't been able to get back on it. My main problem is I can't seem to get off the coffee creamer. I'll keep trying though. It was a good plan, and it does work if you don't mess with your fasting window.

Anyone trying to conceive or struggle with cycle regularity should not fast daily during the ovulatory phase and week before cycle. 14/10 possibly 16/8 no snacking between meals is pretty safe generally though. It's dependant on individual.

I just started IF. Currently I do 16:8 or 13:11. Depending on how I feel. I find that I feel better on a 16:8 but I feel like there’s too much time to eat. I am also counting calories to make sure I meet my daily requirement because I don’t eat a lot. I don’t like feeling like I ate a ton, it literally hurts my stomach. I’m hoping I can get to a 20:4, eventually.

Hi, great video. I started doing interment fasting three weeks ago and I been struggling to keep my exact scheduled eating hours. I'm doing 16/8 and I feel bad when I don't get to eat before my window closes because I'm a mom and have a full time job so not everyday I have the flexibility to do my exact eating window since I always have something going on with the kids. (School activities, sports ect). Im doing a challenge by another youtuber and she's very strict on "oh you have to eat this and that and you can't eat this and that" becau is bad your you. I don't want to stop eating what I love. I feel I eat pretty clean I minimize process foos, I eat lots of veggies, I don't drink sosa but I also enjoy pasta or Mexican when I'm craving them. This video has help me realize I don't have to stress out about beating myself out when I decide I want oatmeal today or bread..I'll keep watching your video so I can learn more about IF.

I did IF with a 5 hour window and then narrowed that to OMAD and if I needed a snack would eat something small. But the window closed at 5. I drank my 8 glasses of water a day, drank one detox tea, made sure my meal contained only protein, greens, veggies and or low sugar fruit, and a healthy fat, plus counted micros and macros tailored to myself. I did this for 7 months. I lost 5 pounds, tops. I also have hypothyroid. It's very frustrating because I was choosing as healthy of foods as possible. Not sure what I did wrong!
