Jade’s mental game is so strongggg how she bounced back from her floor in quals to nail her vaults like nothing had happened 15 minutes prior was chef’s kiss 🤌🏼

I love seeing Hezlys personality. Being the baby of the team she didn’t fight for attn and let her gymnastics speak for herself. It’s nice to see her and Jade smile and laugh and have some fun with it
@carolineantpoehler36044 ай бұрын
Hezly did so well at qualifying! Fighting through a beam routine like that as a first year senior at the Olympics was so impressive. I have no doubt that she will return in 2028 to lead the team to a gold medal in front of a home crowd!! (hopefully with all the girls who suffered injuries so close to their dream fully recovered)

Hello: Same for 2021. Very open, friendly, personable in questions and almost like talking to their friend. Enthusiastic interviews. One of Access Hollywood's grand choices for him as an interviewer. Thankful to your roads. God Bless, John German

Exactly. The last time I saw him doing interviews was Tokyo Olympics to Katie Ledecky. The way he interviews people just keeps me engaging. He's friendly, makes things relax rather than very formal, and just overall chill and has good vibes.

I think its great that Hezley looks proud and happy even though Shawn Johnson got gold and silver medals at 16. The press is so much nicer to her than they were to Shawn!
@QuartzieK4 ай бұрын
There have also been Olympic gymnasts that won gold at 14 yrs old before the minimum age increased.
@simonesobel78824 ай бұрын
@@QuartzieK I"m sorry but Hezley didn't deserve gold. The olympics are about the highest standards and no mistakes for a gold medal, or you make some minor mistakes but have incredible difficulty and consistency. What did Hezly do? She had a terrible beam routine that flagged in red, and a mediocre bar routine and she didn't qualify to preform with the team which is a first! She only qualified at Olympic Trials because three top athletes got awful injuries. If Shilese Jones or Kayla DIcello didn't get injured there's no way she would go. I"m a top chess player and I"m super hard on myself in competitions. I don't take praise for anything I don't truly deserve. There's so many other american gymnasts who deserved that spot and would have done a much better job truly contributing. Joselyn Roberson would have done a better job (she's an alternate, she is far more consistent). Dominique Moceana was 14 when she helped team USA earn the gold, she messed up under pressure on her last vault but until then she gave an amazing performance, so did Shawn Johnson at 16. Jade Carey is an amazing gymnast and a true fighter who has proved herself by winning gold on floor in Tokyo after she had a terrible beam routine. They are treating her like a kid sister, and being way to nice about it. They know in their hearts that those four women earned the gold, not Hezley.

Gabrielle Douglas (London 2012) was the most recent 16 yo Olympian, the first to win both team gold and gold AA. Laurie Hernández was 16 (Rio 2016) team gold, beam silver

People are usually around 17-20 to be called a normal age to compete in the Olympics 😂

And she's over a decade younger than Simone, who is still at the top of her game.
@jixer19564 ай бұрын
@@TheBestInTheWestSophie Gymnasts and figure skaters traditionally skewed younger than other sports. Back in the day 14-16 was considered prime olympic gymnast age and athletes were expected to do 1-2 cycles before retiring e.g. Nadia Comaneci, Dominique Moceanu, Mary Lou Retton. Even in more recent years, Shawn Johnson did her only Olympics at age 16 and retired before the next one at age 20. The IOC has raised the minimum age from 14 to 16 over the years.

I do think it's kinda lame to keep asking them about their teammates instead of asking them about their own stories. Jade has a huge story with her illness, being favored for a medal on floor and missing it, coming back on vault, etc. Hezley has a story, being 16 and on a team with all former Olympians of this caliber. I think it was a missed opportunity to let these ladies tell their stories.
@leykimayri4 ай бұрын
Well of course what would he ask them, “how were you feeling when you weren’t competing and watching the other three competing “? Hezly was non existent and Jade did only a vault, they could have won gold easily just only with the r other three
@mariusa.58634 ай бұрын
There are some suggestions what he could’ve asked in the comment. I agree that interviewing Hezly is difficult though because she won gold without having the chance to contribute to the score. :/ Jade at least was able to make the margin to silver bigger.
@omglauraelizabeth4 ай бұрын
@@leykimayri idk, could have covered the events of qualifications, training, finals, plans for after the Olympics, for example. I know you're smarter and more creative than that. There's a million things he could have asked.
@anitabreakone4 ай бұрын
@@leykimayriI feel like Jade contributed greatly with that vault and could have contributed more had she not fallen on the floor routine. Her score was pretty much the same as Simone’s on vault and imo was better. Had anyone else messed up they would have really been appreciating that 14.8 vault score and as it was anything could have happened and it could have been the saving points they needed so yes Jade did contribute. She made up for her fall.
