instructors at all schools are pro level quit makers of the military and are always looking for weakness. RAP week in ranger school is where most quit. in Ranger selection to go to ranger bat is where most will quit. SFAS is where most are not selected. Delta Training, the first week will get people to quit. BUDS is no different. Most people want to quit in basic training yet alone elite war fighting schools. The number one rule to success is to grind thru and never quit, work on your weakness to make it stronger and constantly push through. that's it. this applies to anything in life

After I got dropped from 228 and finished SAR school, I took a diving class right there in San Diego and we finished by boat on San Clemente. What was amazing to me was not only the depth perception contrast between San Diego and San Clemente (6 feet compared to 60 feet lol) but just how many damn sting rays lurk in the sands of the beaches at BUDS and those nearby. Like, how many dudes have charged right into the waters there to get wet and sandy, and either landed on a sting ray or close to it, without even knowing it, lol.

@jakezweig2 жыл бұрын

@4thamendment2372 жыл бұрын
@@jakezweig to answer your great white shark question, between July 1 and July 12, 1916 there were 6 shark attacks at the Jersey shore, with four of them happening in one day. On July 1st, a man swimming in Beach Haven was attacked by a shark -- his left leg was shredded and he bled out. On July 6, a man in Spring Lake -- 45 miles north of Beach Haven -- had his legs severed and bled out. Then on July 12th, 4 more shark attacks happened in Matawan, Monmouth County, NJ, where your guy said he was from. All four happened in about an hour and a half. What made it unusual in addition to the rapid succession of the attacks was that sharks rarely swim in brackish water like the Matawan Creek where the attacks occurred, 11 miles inland. The first victim was an 11 year old boy swimming with his friends. They saw a fin and the boy disappeared. His friends ran for help. Two adult male rescuers jumped into the water to find the boy -- both were bitten, one survived and the other didn't. The sixth victim was a 14 year old boy who survived but spent 59 days in the hospital. There's some question about what shark(s) did the attacks. Some people say great white; other people say bull shark. Bull shark is much more likely in the Matawan attacks anyway; they're known to travel up freshwater waterways, whereas the great white is strictly an ocean-going shark.

The story about Mini-Me is hilarious. It was a log I think some instructor brought us in 228 (I dont remember it being there before that). It was skinnier than Old Misery but much longer. It was also pretty jagged, so it could rub or cut injuries into you while you were sprinting with it. One night I actually mentioned to members of the class (228) that the log had to be deposed of (because it could cut you). We dropped it right into that pit outside the rear entrance by the ropes. Had nothing to do with being wimps, but that Tijuana had an open sewage system flowing into the ocean and I wanted to minimize all potential skin wounds as much as possible. Never saw rhe log again before Hell Week but it sounds to me like the instructors got 229 or 230 to drag it outta the pit. Doesnt surprise me it didnt last long afterwards tho and nevwr became a BUDS fixture. I understand Old Misery and being as hard as possible but that thing was too much of an injury hazard.
