Thx, it's good that Americans release big hits from the ABBA Gold compilation, including so many other tracks like this one that deserve to be shared, like "Hole in your soul", "when all is said and", "Our Last Summers", Under Attack",.......

@@DIDCOTTWISTThe songs of ABBA are timeless. They can sound fresh and new in any time period. That’s the magic of their songs. They will entertain every generation to come.

Beautiful moving song. An underrated gem from one of the best selling groups of all time. There is a live version of this from the ABBA meets Dick Cavett show in 1981.

My favorite ABBA song (outta so many great) - although not a parent. Talk about delivering a feeling!
@RavennaAl5 күн бұрын
Bjorn said he wrote this song when he watched his daughter walk to her first day of school all by herself. He remembered how scared and yet how proud she was to be going alone. Every parent's worst fear, and yet biggest pride at the same time.

That's always strange to me, how people buy singles, or only know their worst hits. I never saw a single, but bough all their LPs, despite not being a very strong fan back in the 1970s. At least they were good enough for that :)

What a great pleasure to see you return to ABBA songs And of ABBA songs most emotionals "Slipping through my fingers" (1981) is in my opinion the most testimonial and emitional ABBA song This lyrics are very deep, about the growth of a son and how those moments of time go by day by day the guitarist Björn writes it about her 7/8 year old daughter and her mother Agnetha sings it with specialy feeling of mother Sometimes it is related to "The winner takes it all", because it has as protagonists Björn and Agnetha too But there are differences between the two stories: 1) that is the figurative story about a divorce (although probably with parts of the reality that Agnetha and Björn lived), but this is a story inspired by the daily lives of parents another difference with 2) this does not arouse the morbidity of the leading couple, it is an intimate story of parents and children that generates tenderness and nostalgia 3) perhaps this one does not have the usual catchy refrains of ABBA or a powerful melody like that, here its melody is soft, cared for and intimate, it accompanies without invading the wonderful emotional interpretation of Agnetha, that always shines much more when the song asks to express the feelings ABBA performed live in 1981 "Slipping through my fingers" These was the premiere in the TV special "Dick Cavett meets ABBA" kzbin.info/www/bejne/l6ezhZeAnZedbNU and these is one of ABBA's songs recorded in spanish too: "Se me está escapando" (ABBA recorded a full album in spanish too in 1980, after the worldwide success of "Chiquitita" in 1979 at the Concert for UNICEF, specialy in Latin American countries) In short, it's a beautiful song by melody and interpreter lyrics, it touches the most intimate fibers of emotion and nostalgia, it's in my Top 20 of all ABBA songs I hope to see you soon with more ABBA songs My best regards from Buenos Aires Argentina South America

10,000 Maniacs "How You've Grown" about Natalie Merchant's experiences while concert touring and leaving her daughter home. I think ABBA fell short with this one. I've never even heard this until, today. And, I'm an ABBA fan. Lol
