Very much so, but David Arnold and others continued the musical legacy as well for the other films after him.

bond has quietly become the best shot franchise of recent with the Brosnan and Craig movies looking beautiful for the most part but the scores have always been incredible

Thats mostly the reason why I watched them, same with the Nolan movies. Its rarely "just" an action scene in Brosnan Bond upwards, its usually an interesting location, too (well... except Solace...).

@briangonigal39742 жыл бұрын
Of course, by absolutely no stretch of the imagination does this come anywhere close to being "every" musical interlude. For one thing everyone probably has their own definition of exactly what does & doesn't count as a "musical interlude", you seem to limit it to shots of characters walking or traveling by some vehicle and just sort of observing the scenery around them (as opposed to say, to pick one random example, a shot like Bond in a bar in Live & Let Die watching a singer perform an R&B version of the title song). But the important thing is, you selected 21 minutes of chronologically arranged music cues spanning 50 years that seamlessly blend together into one wonderfully flowing medley. A fantastic editing job!
@RandoUploader32 жыл бұрын
Outstanding! I just finished downloading the songs for my driving playlist. IMO, the best interludes involve adapting the main theme with a slower tempo and subdued beat. "Alpine Drive", "Death of Theresa", "Bond Meeds Stacey" are great examples, and then you have my personal favourite "Mountains and Sunsets" which adapted "You Only Live Twice" and sampled "Thunderball".
@EVERYJAMESBOND2 жыл бұрын

The music really enhances the scenes. There are a couple of scenes in Hong Kong from "Tomorrow Never Dies" I would have added. The scene where Bond and Wai Lyn are on their way to the Carver building and when they are both preparing for battle by the bay and on the boat in ocean.

Many of these seem to be more of the travelogue moments in Bond - highlighting, at least by my account, one of the shortcomings of the Brosnan films - The pacing became overly fast by that point, and it didn't seem the creators were as interested in the travelogue, scenery admiring scenes that often felt somewhat serene or contemplative. I think the Craig films were able to recapture a little of that flavor, in particular a movie like Skyfall.

John Barry was untouchable. He created the Bond sound, carried many of the films, and was just on another planet compared to the rest, who either tried way too hard to imitate him or, in the case of the later Brosnan/Craig films, just couldn't add anything new or inspiring to a stale, sterile, creatively bankrupt franchise that had lost its magic...(in my humble opinion).
@ChrisHewittMedia2 жыл бұрын
Having said that, I actually really liked Eric Serra's Goldeneye score, and the film may have been the last great 'true' Bond film. From that point on they became too cartoonish, too afraid of it's own shadow, too modernised, and the Craig films too indistinguishable from the Bourne series. The old films evoked a sense of mystery, grandeur, style, and elegance. Casino Royale was probably the next closest to redeeming the franchise (both films directed by Martin Campbell).
