Always season your food to your liking. If you can't have salt use salt substitute or Mrs. Dash. Seasonings will bring out flavor of food. Blessings to you both

In Germany where I now live they just don't do pies (or pasties) so I have to make them myself.I only use minced beef and onion. No carrot or celery. The key is to make a bloody good gravy for the pie (spiced up with mustard, Worcester sauce, tomato puree, marmite) I reckon pies should always have a top and bottom crust as well.

@@jshaw4757 I wonder how people in America would react to him if he tried it over there 🤣 At least most of our foods have natural flavouring. UK McDonalds fries have 3 ingredients potatoes vegetable oil and salt, in America they have those plus loads of flavourings, artificial colours and preservatives.

The reason it was like soup is because two teaspoons of flour isn’t enough to thicken it! I wonder if that was a typo. I would have put two heaped tablespoons in there and cooked it off before adding the stock. No reason to add gravy granules as some have said. Also yet again nowhere near enough salt in those ingredients for that amount of meat. I understand that some people don’t like to add much salt but this book is supposed to encourage people to cook, and food that tastes like soil isn’t going to do that. It looks like you did a good job of it anyway, so not your fault!

Whilst often considered a chef, I don’t think Jamie ever made it to head chef status. I believe the highest he got was the sous chef at the Riverside before the BBC snapped him up for a series when he was probably still a teenager, and everyone started hyping him up. His ‘school dinners’ series angered some people for being patronising and dismissive and ever since then he seems to have become obsessed with healthy eating, using olive oil *all the time* and reducing all other fats and sugars in his recipes to sometimes absurd levels - for example his butter chicken was made with a completely straight face using zero butter. I wonder if he’s worried about being seen as a hypocrite for doing anything unhealthy so is led by that mindset when doing his recipes. Certainly he has a lot of fans, which explains why he’s by far the richest ‘chef’ with a wealth of hundreds of millions. Personally I don’t rate his recipes and would go out of my way to avoid them if I’m looking for something new to cook. I simply don’t think he’s very good, and in fact I think some of his recipes for dishes from other countries are downright insulting. It’s laughable to me that he has made millions upon millions selling quite underwhelming recipes to the masses but I guess he’s just got something about him that people like

Oh Dear, my grandad is rolling over in his grave looking at that pie. I can see his disapproving face as he spoons up that thin gravy and pours it back onto the plate. Onions are ok in pie, all other veg should be served on the side to avoid over cooking. Way to much water for one stock cube and come on Jamie, you have to brown off and drain the fat from the mince.

Don't get me started on Jamie. I absolutely cannot stand him 😣😤 His cooking is total crap. He has just been extremely lucky mainly through other people. Saying that, all his restaurants failed. He played a major part in ruining all the Soft drinks with harmful sweeteners. Yet he still continues to cook with huge amounts of oils, fats and sugars. Then recently he was trying to make life more difficult for struggling families, by taking away the money saving food deals. While he was marinating and deep frying pieces of fat and cooking £50 organic chickens. No wonder he is one of the most hated TV chefs. Grrrrrrr 😂

Not surprised it turned out bad, I mean it's Jamie Oliver trying to do a recipe for a classically British dish... the same Jamie Oliver who repeatedly badmouths this nation, shows time and again how out of touch he is from the reality of working families, who constantly wants to interfere in our lives and who when doing his British food series spent the entire time talking about how things weren't actually British because "pastry, that came over with the Romans"... something he didn't replicate in the country he wishes he was from, Italy, as he never talked about Tomato's originating in S America or Pasta from China. Suffice to say my general loathing of Jamie Oliver may be so strong it's spreading across the UK like a psychic wave and making all his recipes taste bad by default lol.
