I was 8 when this released and I’m 37 now. There’s a reason I love to see gameplay of these old games and hear the music just like this… it’s because each one of these games.. each one of these soundtracks takes me back to a moment in time. It takes me back to a specific time, and a specific person that I played the game with. Whether it was my father watching me play the game.. or my neighbor Andrew sitting next to me as we play through the entire game. It’s not simply nostalgia to hear soundtracks like this… it’s like we’re warping in a time capsule. Returning to that moment and reliving it. Remembering the scenery, the atmosphere, the smells.. it’s returning to that specific room, in that specific house that we played the game. It can be very happy, or very sad for some of us. These aren’t just games… these are little time capsules. These are part of our brain, part of our hearts.

I still play this game almost daily. Im currently 27, I normally dont play anything online with my friends alot, I just want to play this. I still remember being a child at our first home and playing this in the basement. Before I was aware of anxiety and depression, this was the meaning to my existence. I've lost alot of family, and friends over the years, but I will never lose my love for this game. When GameXplain did their DKC 25th anniversary celebration week, one of their audio interviews was with David, and he said Aquatic Ambience he feels like was his best and favorite piece he ever composed for the series. He loved it so much that's why he re-recorded a new version for Tropical Freeze.

Didn't grow up with DKC I was a Sega Genesis kid. However I did play this in college around 2012 and I remember then feeling sad that I didn't grow up playing this. I wonder if David Wise reads these comments. I hope he does. DKC was my first video game, I was 5 years old. I have great memories of playing it with my siblings and cousins at home. Even my dad liked it, especially the mine cart level. Another good memory I have is from one reunion at a friend's house back in elementary school, nobody could finish the underwater level and when it was my turn to play, I aced it and they were all astonished I could pass the level.

I am sorry to hear. My cat died suddenly at 6 years old. She could have lived another 12 years or so. It was unexpected and the vet said she had a heart problem we didn't know about until after we found out she died. I just hoped that she didn't feel pain and i still get heartbroken when i see her pictures and think of how fast she passed without a warning.

This song was epic and before its time. Were talking 90's here. I would take my time on the water levels just to enjoy the music. All 3 dk's had awesome music in my opinion.

My dad when he was a kid would have this level going and turn the tv off so it would only play out the speakers and go to sleep to it. When I was a kid he bought an SNES for his own nostalgias sake not realizing that he created a second generation of nostalgia. Now here I am reminded of my simple youth.

This reminds me when games were no different to a board game or going outside to do some skating, you played for a bit then stopped, games didn't consume you for too long. TBH when I played this game as a youngster this song didn't make any mark on me I don't even remember it, but hearing it now does bring back those times of casual fun and play.

The DKC trilogy will always be my most fond gaming memories, specifically "Diddy Kong's Quest." The people from Rareware came from the astral plains to provide us with an insane soundtrack, as well as an amazing gaming experience. I really feel remorse knowing that popular companies have completely turned from passion. Every song so perfectly portrayed the feel of the level you were progressing.
