I am not capable of making emotional art. Well, not dark emotions anyway. My problem is no matter how sad, or angry I may be feeling, I always end up with bright colors and cheerful compositions. I’m pretty sure I could try to repaint the most gruesome scene from the scariest movie you can think of, and it would still have a happy vibe somehow. It’s weird. I’m not ultra perky or anything, I’m more neutral with a dark sense of humor at times. But hand me a paintbrush and you get rainbows and sunshine.

Wow. The way this transformed with your emotions was powerful and telling. I was very moved listening to you talk about the war and humanitarian efforts. Thank you for sharing your heart and your art. ❤

Oh Jane, I think this is my absolute favorite painting you've ever done. The emotion behind it as you so gracefully expressed not only in your spoken word, but also in the work itself. In America, we can only see what is happening on the television, and that is quite emotional, however hearing you voice how you feel with it taking place in your own back yard hit home even more. The destruction and loss of life, home, safety is such a waste of what God gave us and some so callously destroy. I pray for the Ukrainian people as well as the Russians, as I know most hate seeing what their country is doing to another people. It's truly heart wrenching. Thank you for your words and how you expressed it in your art. It really moved me. I cannot wait to purchase this piece and lovingly display it in my home as a hope for a better future for the world. Prayers to you and everyone on that side of the world. Please stay safe!!!

Thank you for talking about Ukraine. I see a lot of Artists are painting sunflowers and doing little fundraisers to help somehow, we're all kindred souls trying be in commune spiritually with Ukraine.

Just want you to know how stunning this was before you even put any paint down!! Just wow xxx I'm sending thoughts and prayers because I understand how scarey it must be. We are with you.. never be afraid of sharing your emotions. That is being an artist you pour your heart and soul into every piece

Prayers ongoing to you, and those in Ukraine during this highly challenging and emotionally and physically overwhelming time for you all… You speak beautifully about your situation and I completely understand that which I believe you are trying to convey… Finally my favorite brush is the Princeton Velvet Touch round this far in my painting journey. Prayers, and I continue hoping for peace very soon! 💔❤️🩹❤️

Painting sometimes just ideas are not enough, but we need emotions to be able to draw soulful works, and artistic depth. I am most impressed with your sketching of the picture, but also commend the way you use watercolors, the skill is excellent.

This is one of my favourite pieces I've seen from you! Together with the one over two pages in your sketchbook, the one with hibiscus flowers. They are insanely beautiful. I'm really looking forward to when I can buy this as a print! I also really appreciate (and appreciated, as this is certainly not the first time I'm watching this video) the way you spoke about the war. It feels so unreal that this is a reality now. There just aren't words for it, but I loved yours. Regarding masking fluid: I have the blue Schminke masking fluid and I've diluted it with water and applied with a brush, which made a huge difference in consistency! I don't know how much that will reactivate/disturb the layer underneath though! But I thought I would mention it in case that's something that would work for you 😊

Hello Jane, Debi here in Canada......I hope you and your family are feeling better after being ill, as well the terrible war destroying so many. Yes the world has changed and the world is trying to help. I have been looking for your e-ship information to buy and in my small way help. Many families have come to Canada and as we already have a huge Ukrainian population, it may be of comfort. Please let me know, if possible the link . Please take care and Art and emotion are one. xoDebi

Debi thanks so much for caring, I was completely unable to get eshop working for international customers so far, so I sold the prints locally for now, my apologies for this but sadly I am so limited right now as to what I can do. I am finishing two major projects now and will be able to focus my efforts on e-shop during summer. There will be a major update about this and the prints will still be relevant to the cause.

Beautiful poignant painting. I think it captures the mood perfectly. Canada has the second largest population of Ukrainians outside Ukraine. And in Alberta where I am we have the largest in Canada. So even if this war is far away...it feels close and personal as everyone I know knows someone who is worrying about family in Ukraine :(. Such a sad time. Such a senseless war.
