It is a common mistake to refer to Gansai paints as watercolor. However, Gansai is a distinct type of paint. Calling Gansai "watercolor" is as incorrect as calling acrylic paint "watercolor." Each of these is a different medium: Acrylic is its own medium. Watercolor is its own medium. Gouache is its own medium. Oil paint is its own medium. And Gansai is its own medium. Until people understand that Gansai is not watercolor, they will likely continue to feel frustrated when using it.

great video although I have one question, even in the final result i can see the sketch lines on the lips for example, and im assuming going over that with an eraser would not be the best idea? so how to deal with that

This was a fantastic lesson, particularly the part where you showed how you create swatches for the various layers. That solved many mysteries for me regarding watercolor portraits. Thank you!

Thank you for sharing your storage techniques. To viewers that may not know, use artist specific masking tape. Regular masking tape is not acid free, and will discolor the paper over time.

You are a real artist, no doubt about that. My only issue is that you always paint girls with perfect faces. Don't you want to give a chance to less than perfect faces too?

Hi, a new subscriber here. I love this informative video of yours, I love your artwork, awesome! And, I like to hear the opinions of many Artists, on different ways. But, I want to ask you, I know, you said they're creamy...how you feel this Shinhan PWC on the paper, they are manageable, apart of the creamiest texture? And thank you for this review ❤❤❤

Kuratake is not the same as watercolour. You can't use it like you use watercolour. I don't know why people keep calling it watercolour Both paintings are beautiful BTW 😍 I prefer the first one

Yes, you are right and thanks for watching. Well, many art supply stores market and label them as watercolor, especially in my country.

One thing I notice about last artwork, is even though you don't like it, it has turned out to be more of your style. what I mean is as you mentioned there is pitfall of masterclasses. and honestly, I might get confused in before artworks, exactly your art belongs to your style of style of Eudes Correia. But in last artwork, I can clearly identify your art style more personalized. For that reason, the last page has a lot of significance. What I feel from last page is you personalized techniques from Eudes Correia with your own color choice and way of expression. and that is a win for you. From your old artworks, there is noticeable tendency of getting inspired from florals. And it helped you to achieve your personalized art style in last piece. That's just a observation.

Also what I mean by inspiration from florals, is not just form of flowers. But even you pick up color palette of florals as it inspires you naturally :)

Thanks so much. Well, I truly love doing darker, much heavier and more colorful backgrounds to my portraits and even though I adore his lightness, I might go different direction there. Thanks for noticing :)

The first few pages of her sketchbook are before she took any classes and all of them use dark colors and more defined forms. That last page does not reflect her original style. However, as an artist lives and grows, their style will change and morph to reflect their new way of experiencing the world. The classes didn’t change her style. Life changed her style. The classes are just allowing her to better reflect the internal changes that have been occurring within her over the last 2 years.

Hi Jane! Thank you so much for the tour, your sketchbook is beautiful! My favorite spread has to be the one with the teeth. You did an amazing job with them and the entire composition and art. At the moment my sketchbooks are gathering dust, as I'm pregnant and super happy but so tired and with nausea all the time. So all my energy goes to work and to remember my vitamins. But I hope at some point to return to it and start practicing to regain my skills again. Have a great day. ❤
