It's so generous of you to share something so personal. In my case it's the opposite. I'm confident in my portrait sketches using pencil. I was very nervous but finally added ink and was surprised when it turned out okay and that the fear mostly came from the unknown. I have been staring at my pencil drawings for sometime now and haven't painted them because I'm afraid to mess it up. Instead I have been watching artists' works on KZbin such as yours and hoping that I would eventually find the courage to paint over my portrait sketches.

I saw your art on my thread and was instantly drawn to your style and technique. I read your bio and I have to say that I followed a similar path. I studied Pharmacy due to family expectations but deep inside I knew I was always an artist. Unlike you though, I never had the courage to follow my heart until recently. So here I am immersing myself in learning from everyone whose work inspires me, absorbing everything like a sponge! ❤

I consider your channel is succses compair to myself. Have being doing it for 3 years barely got 1K. Most of videos got 100 to 200 views. At this point I just make it for fun. Sometimes I need break from painting so I make a video and exited to paint again. But I, got burned out from watching art KZbin.😅 This is why I watch this video 5 months later.

Dunno if you still take suggestions for subjects, but what about animal faces? I'd really love to know how to get the kind of depth you make on cat faces

Thank you so much for this video! ❤ It's really incredible how your style evolved and diversified since your first videos! I love the "dry brush" technique in the hair and the contrast between the movement in the background and the peace of the face... There's so much to learn and to take inspiration from!

such beautiful faces have less features, that's why older people is difficult to paint than younger.

the point is with 100% cotton the dried version is way more lighter than 25% cotton. i switched between the two and often find 25% better than 100% for portraits. the darker values are more accentuated.

beautiful skin tones, and you model the shape of the face (eye orbit) around the eye, plus examples of other mixing effects to explain your process. excellent!

I think I’m on the same path as you are. I’m trying to let go of control and loosen up in my paintings. So far not much progress, but I’m getting there 😅 Love your portrait! I feel like in every painting there is a part when you think that it’s damaged beyond repair and then it all comes together in the last wash 😊

colerase colored pencils work great for sketching as they are fairly easy to erase. Your painting looks so so pretty!
