I was working from home doing transcription work, so my desk was, by far, the biggest piece of furniture in the place. I was homechooling my son as well and with a small sofa, a trundle bed, a book case as a room divider and a small kitchenette, there wasn't much room for school stuff... but!! ...just outside the door to our little home was a small chicken coop that hadn't had chickens in it for years. My girlfriend and I swept the "floors", put down a piece of indoor-outdoor carpet, moved in a small picnic table, and school was in session. During a difficult time my son and I were surrounded by only the things that made us the happiest and that we loved the very most. 20 years later he and I still talk about those months, 7 or 8 I think it was, and agree that that experience brought us very close together, no pun intended. 🤣🤣 Thanks again for sharing this. This is what happens when you have Dem after Dem running (ruining) the state. NEWSOME!! Practicalities of finance and public safety are thrown out the window because of folks using the monies of the middle class to fund their personal pet projects, which usually puts money in their pockets while taking it from yours, and their newest way to enslave the lower classes (welfare). They forget about getting folks off of drugs and the streets and getting them real help (mental). Do any of you remember the bridge to nowhere in Alaska? I think that Congressman(?) just wanted funding for that project to get re-elected. He had to show that he was bringing money back to his state, it didn't matter that it was a useless pet project. What that money could have done in Alaska versus where it went was probably bordering on the criminal. Dems are always spend, spend, spend. And they always reach into YOUR pocket book to do it. At the end of the day, you get booted to the curb while they move up in square footage, how much they have in their off shore accounts and how many people they have on hand to ensure their personal safety and that of their family. Usually their safety issues involves the carrying of arms. But they want to take yours away. And there you have the Dems in a nutshell. Do as I say, not as I do. Could I just say "politicians"? Yes. But the Dems demonstrate my position to the tee over and over again without even blinking. If I could do what someone did (poop on a driveway) to show my utter disapproval of the targeted person I would. I believe they are a heaping helping of excrement in the way that they conduct themselves behind closed doors and the way in which they have enriched themselves while making us poorer and less safe.

Speaking of California, if you are not living in a big city like Los Angeles or San Francisco or many high cost living areas, there are places and affordable homes either for rent or buying to live comfortably. I understand each of us has different living demands due to personal preference or jobs or social. I pay less than $1200 for my two story home in 2282 sq ft in central California. I feel bad to see people pay more for just a studio or on bedroom apartment.

This is so refreshing! I applaud you and your mom, sister (and also the close friends in the big house). This is just great. 'Small and cute, rather then big and lonely'...nails it. Your close relationship with your mom and sister is the hallmark. In the last 12 years of my mom's life, I visited her for months at a time. During that time we shared her king sized bed. (actually, there were two additional empty bedrooms in the house. This was my preference). Sharing a bed made possible so many wonderful conversations, sometimes in the middle of the night or early morning. Just sharing the space gave us a sense of loving connection. Especially now that she is gone, I would not trade those times for anything. The illusion of that old 'American Dream' of hugeness and isolation is flawed in ways that hurts us deeply. Your family has stepped out of it. Wishing you continuing happiness.

Im definitely a person that needs my own space and privacy, but thats because thats how I was raised. Watching this, it makes me wish I grew up in this kind of space. My family is very disconnected with each other and the walls we could hide behind enabled that disconnect. I think its beautiful that you and your family share your space with each other in a way that seems peaceful and happy, I can imagine how strong your bond must be with them, and I wish that I had that in my own life. You also have the best neighbor, I think thats so cute that your mom's best friend lives right there. So, in my opinion, your living space in many ways is so much better than a traditional house.

There's Camping, then there's upmarket camping called Glamping... I guess this is Garamping. Living in a Garage is a half way house between living on the street and living in a house..literally. However, plenty of people convert garages to bedrooms, you can easily put a stud wall near the garage door and wholla! just another bedroom.

You can't travel the world in a garage. You need a car for that. ^_^

This is the reality of many Northern Californians . I know many families living in a garage due to how expensive rent is in the Bay Area.

While I do think the specific arrangement shown in this video is awesome, and it looks super cozy, it's absolutely ridiculous to me that we have been conditioned to believe this is acceptable living. Most garages are NOT good living quarters, especially for many families. But society has pushed us into this direction of just appreciating any type of roof over our heads when it's literally the bare minimum of what every family should have. Like, there are people in California living in dilapidated garages/tiny homes and are conditioned to feel "blessed" because they have a roof over their heads, and they're paying an arm and a leg, but hey! At least they're in California! It makes me so sad. Life shouldn't be like that.

@@jadieeee Right that’s why you live somewhere in the south like the Carolinas or something like that or it’s affordable. I would never live in a city like that it’s just ridiculous to be uncomfortable in a tiny apartment

My husband renovated my mothers garage. Took.out the garage door and added a wall and window. It's actually the nicest room in the house and in a great neighborhood. Priorities people.

Creative way living for less in a very expensive city! Sending love and positivity to your family! In San Francisco, many young people who make $150K - $200K a year live in a van or at someone’s dining room or someone’s garage, so they can save money aggressively .
