Over the years, many of the great 80's bands have fallen by the wayside for one reason or another. Of all them, the saddest story is Jani Lane. He was so amazingly gifted. For those who paid attention, it was clear that his music only got better as time went on. The first 2 records are the ones most people know, but it's the later stuff that impressed me the most. His solo album "Down to One" is incredible, while "Ultraphobic" and "Belly to Belly" show how he evolved as a composer. His loss is tragic. I only hope that one day, whoever owns the rights to his music will put out some unreleased stuff, like "Jabberwocky" or whatever else there is. I salute the members of Warrant for carrying on, but there really is no Warrant without Jani.

My mom met Jani at the Hammerjacks Concert Hall in Baltimore, Maryland. She was sitting at a table with her friends when he walked by and accidentally spilled his drink on her. He felt so horrible and kept apologizing over and over. My nom smiled and assured him that it was okay. He still felt so bad so he ordered her and her friends a bunch of drinks on the house. He treated my mom with such kindness and sincerity. She said he was a true gentleman. This was back in the early 90s. She said he was the kindest, most compassionate, loving man with a great heart ♥️

I miss Jani Lane so much! I still can hear his voice in my mind sometimes. Everytime I've done one of his songs at a Karaoke show, sometimes I can almost hear him singing right along with me & smiling. I never had the chance3 to meet him in person but I know that if I had, he would have left his mark on me, emotionally forever. It just doesn't seem right that he was taken from us this soon. RIP, Jani & we will always love you!!! You rocked our world with such talent. May your Spirit soar!

I had no idea until I saw another video about Jani Lane, but this song title was going to be the name of the album and main song until the producer asked for something more catchy...so he quickly threw together Cherry Pie and his life went downhill after that.

I was blessed enough to see Warrant after Cherry Pie and after one of the most underated and my favorite Warrant albums Dog Eat Dog! Both times in FL and the original line up was great, they sounded better than the albums live and Jani Lane kicked ass live! I also got to meet Jani Lane in Daytona beach, FL in 1991 and got to talk to him for over an hour and I got his autograph on my ticket stub! He was a very nice person and a great singer who is surely missed!!

@saltpeter74294 жыл бұрын
Loved dog est dog as well. I met him in 99 I think? WARRANT, SLAUGHTER and QUIET RIOT at the Hampton beach casino and ball room. I guess I got into a little drunken spat, argument, silly name calling session with Jani, I dont remember the details at all as I was blacked out shit faced drunk. My buddy that was with me says it was one of the funniest things he ever saw and it is to this day his favorite story he loves to dig it up and recite when I'm around. Anyhow, The truth behind the laughs was that I am a terrible alcoholic, who is not safe to consume booze at all. I squandered a good portion of my life swimming in false projections and inebriation. As it happens, I guess Jani struggled with this type of stuff too, and it would have been cool as a fan and a decent human being that when I did meet one of my hero's I could have been coherent, respectful, somewhat in control of myself and conscious of the moments going on around me. I wish I could have talked to him outside of a hard rock and roll environment and shared with him my admiration for his achievements and talent and discussed the real things that are going on behind our eyes. I didnt. He passed away. I was blessed by God to not have to drink for the last 11 years and I have 2 beautiful little children that insist that I throw in cherry pie and down boys so that we can headbang together and play air guitar. So. .. my supposed funny story isn't very funny at all. I am so very sad that Jani Lane died struggling for life under a choking soul and lethal memories, he touched a lot of people through his music and according To these threads, through his big heartedness. I am sorry I was an asshole on my only chance to meet a Hero.

OMG... It almost feels like he went back to age 26 again right in front of my eyes... YOU GO JANI, Swing It !!! WOW, it is amazing to watch Jani having fun & being respected by those he is playing with... I have said it before & this repeat won't be the last either... There are very few TRUE GENIUSES amongst musicians... Oh hell, I know tons of songwriters, out there & I am not taking anything away from any of them by feeling how I do about JANI LANE, this man had a body that just would not quit, until that last sad day, but before that Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm !!! But beyond all that wantin to jump someone's bones, there was so much MORE to this guy, his words to so many of the songs he wrote helped me grow up, helped me grieve over losses (including Jani himself) & helped me learn how to survive in this world... Read his lyrics, ALL OF THEM, he WAS GENIUS, no two ways about it, & this is only the 2nd artist I EVER put on this high a pedestal... The other one is Jim Morrison of the Doors, & I am so happy if we can not keep these rare stars here with us & locked in that guilded cage he sang about in another song, "It hurts to set them free" but we had to, & it was for the best & I KNOW IN MY HEART that Jani & Jim are rockin it out together & I look forward to my turn, I want front row to that concert in Heaven... THANK YOU AGAIN Bootleg Video Funhouse, You F'kn ROCK !!!

I saw him before he became famous in wilkes county nc at a hole in a field called tobacco roads!! Outdoor concert with several others like stepin wolf and deep purple and some i cant remember right now but i. Know warrant was there singing down boys. And mabe firehouse was there too. It was a blast i was only 14 years old and my big brother randy took me to it . my granma sit in the car in the grass field because she was worried about me being there with all those HOoligans! She called them.lol!!! Man god love my grandma.. I miss her so much as she died in 89.things haven't been the same since.thats life. But hey i got some totally awesome memories like that outdoor concert!!! Man if i get allstimers somebody just put me out of my misery please ?? A man just ant a man or anything even not human without his memory. You know? Its bad its degrading. I think when a person losses all memory doesn't even know who he is than death should be induced. Dont let me sit around and look stupid and everbodys crying and you dont even know who they are or why they are even crying just put me down and dont let me speak to nobody. Just show me a picture of my grama as i die. Because she said ill meet you by the river Christopher. She was crippled couldn't walk sence she was 18 from polio. But she said I'll come running when i see you. Hell i don't know why i even told you guys this stuff I'm sorry. There's not anyone to talk to about things like that much and i dont want to bother my children with sad stuff . but hey I'm still here and still rocking in wilkes county nc. And loven it!!!!! Yea!!
