Janssons Frestelse - Janssons Temptation

Today I'll be showing you how to Janssons frestelse or as know as Janssons temptation in English. A dish loved especially around Christmas and Easter in Sweden.

The ingredients used, for Janssons temptation, in the video:
6 Potatos
1.5 Large onions
200ml Heavy cream
100g Canned Anchovies
25g Butter
Olive oil

I would serve it with roast beef, venison or lamb, and season the Jansson’s temptation with Knorr beef stock pot.

Sounds good as well just keep in mind that there already is a strong fish flavour in it :)

In Sweden you don’t use Tinned Anchovies, it’s way too salty. Use Whitebait. Anjovis in Sweden are sprats, not anchovies.

Thanks for the input. It seem to be a common mistranslation I even found myself in. The more you know :) Will fix the description a little.

Swedish ansjovis is a sweet, pickled sprat as opposed to the actual anchovies in oil. So your recipe which you showcase here most likely tastes rather different from the original one. Just as an FYI.
