A few things everyone...I'm Japanese, from Japan, and yes I cringe when I hear it pronounced "wagoo," but no one is stating how she perfectly cooked the steak, and how you would have it prepared at a Japanese restaurant. My question is, are ANY of you complainers going to channels accosting folks mispronouncing "karate, karaoke and gyoza" as well? She is also not the first person to call it wagoo and won't be the last. By the way, it's pronounced more like wah-giu, not wa-gyu.

I would correct them .. would I care as much as the comments, no. Just like how I said epitome incorrectly yesterday (somehow I forgot how to pronounce it lmfao) and my friends corrected me. Also I'm not Japanese but I've learnt a little and been numerous times, every time I heard them say it typically sounded like Gyu, rather than how you've typed it (the end) is it a dialect thing or ?
@dannyjingu
@dannyjingu 11 ай бұрын
@ClickHere4Naruto You are correct, it is pronounced "gyu," but for the majority of non-Japanese speakers, it is far easier to tell them "giu," because phonetically it ends up being pronounced like "gai-yoo" or "guy-ooh," (reference how the name Ryu was mispronounced through the 80's , 90's and a large part of the 2,000's.) Honestly, the one that actually bothers me is "katsu" being pronounced "cat-soo," which references the disgusting stereotypes of Asians and immigrants eating other people's pets (cats and dogs.)
@inspiredjaguar5797

@inspiredjaguar5797 you can say those however you like, who is it hurting? As someone who has had A5 both in steakhouse and by ordering it online and cooking it myself. It is fantastic. Aussie wagyu is more akin to a very fatty steak. Fatty, but still could eat a normal sized steak. A5 is more like a “share it” experience. Get a few buds together and split the cost. Make it into little sandwiches or something similar for ridiculous flavor and mouthfeel

Had it for the first time last week in ibiza. It was A5. Around €150. They cooked it on a hot stone but they first coated the stone with 2 little cubes of fatty steak (assuming the unrendered fat strip from the original wagu cut). I think they did this to avoid the beef sticking to the stone. 20s each side it seemed like and then served it with an assortment of dips/salt. Absolutely delicious, worth the money if you can afford it.

@@nightmare1010 the reason to cook steaks medium is to have a tender and juicy steak. Wagyu has so much fat that it stays tender and juicy when well done. More over the fat melts more and gives a even better taste. Thats why every professional chef will cook wagyu, as it should be, well done.

I’ve honestly heard that extremely high quality wagyu isn’t typically at its best at rare simply because the high amount of fat doesn’t fully render or cook throughout the cut, resulting in you chewing through multiple pockets of un-rendered fat. I’ve also heard that heavily marbled and rich wagyu beef is one of the few instances where medium-well or even well-done can still result in a good steak.

You can get a pound of A5 for about $130 at many places. A pound of A5 is 2500 calories lol. You should share it with 2-3 other people, $30-$40 a person for a serving isn't too bad. Def worth trying.

@@LdFarquaadI mean it depends. Everybody just says A5 like all A5 is created equal. Different prefectures demand different prices. You can get A5 that is great without knowing it’s prefecture for 80-90 a pound or you can get real Kobe for 200+ a pound.

So content creators saying the same thing: “dont cook over medium rare”. Because of the high fat content you can make it well done and its going to have the same tenderness but with a better flavor since the crust is more pronounced

if u ask why its 200 bucks for that 1 steak ill break it down for you! the actual USA cost of that is 36.99 a pound maybe 2-4 dollars more depending on ur area and in order to sell it they need to pay shipping containers delivery boys butchers in japan and the company that provides the cow so all that add up to fees and in order to make it run smooth have the client/ customer pay for everything while the company just earns revenue and 2and20 just for providing that service

Living in Tokyo having A5 wagyu everyweek. A5 mbs12 isn’t really much of a meet. Whether it’s a Kobe, Matsusaka or A Hida kyu. They are rather a piece of fat with meat in between. If you want a juicy porterhouse. Just properly dryage a cheap US prime angus. If you really want the perfect balance between the meet and fat. Then go for the Korean Hanwoo 1++ mbs9.

For 220 dollars in my country Bosnia: 10 persons roast a whole lamb on a pike, salad, bread, dessert, a bit of barbecue before lamb is done and so much alcohol to get literally wasted with full bellies...
